Detailed Reviews
We recently stayed with friends at this lovely hotel on the edge of Coleraine. The staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel has an excellent lounge area and indoor swimming pool. The well-presented bedroom was large with double aspect windows with all en-suite facilities. The evening meals were plentiful and well-prepared. The breakfast hot food selection was excellent but owing to the current situation the other breakfast items were limited. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We had to pay before entering even the carvery room and also the drinks then had to be paid instantly upon serving. The drinks order was taken before we even sat down. We were never asked if we needed anything after.
The reserved table was in a side room, clearly for family with small children. It felt a little like a nice community hall. Since it was also far from the buffet and one family member wasn't good walking we asked to be moved to the main room, which they did. The new table was too small, we were squished and it felt all a bit wobbly.
Food was alright but it felt all a bit rushed when ordering at the carvery buffet.
Probably just traditional but I wouldn't have minded a bit of salt, spices and herbs here and there, not just so plain food.
Comfy Sunday lunch treat feels different.
Otherwise it looks like a nice place, most staff was very friendly.

Just had another stay at the Bushtown Hotel. One of the main things that keep bringing us back is the friendly, welcoming staff.thankyou Clive for organising ground floor rooms next to each other for dad and I. Housekeeping staff and chefs take time to engage in conversation making guests feel very welcome. Reception & restaurant staff great as always -knowing our names immediately & having bit of chat. Enjoyed the carvery. New spa area looks lovely. Staff wearing masks and lots of reminders up about hand santising, social distancing & wearing of masks. Well done team bushtown.

I was brought here as a surprise for my birthday, very excited to have some much needed time off work to relax & unwind. Unfortunately it did not live up to any of our expectations or website photos & I left worse than I felt when I arrived. The room was extremely basic, there was no blinds or nets on the windows so everyone outside could look in & see directly into our room, we had to pull all curtains for some privacy which left the room very dark, no water or glasses. No towels for the spa, we were told "use your own room towel and come to reception after 8pm to retrieve clean towels, but we had dinner booked & needed showered after the pool before we had our meal. Food was lovely no faults there. There was people running about banging doors, arguing and thumping walls until 5am, we had to ring twice during the night to ask the staff for help, to which nothing was done and the noise continued & got worse. When we explained on check out regarding the noise, we didn't even get an apology the staff reply was "yeah I heard it was a loud one last night". Absolute disgrace & very poor customer care, would advise anyone not to stay here for any occasion.

Arrived sun afternoon, early for check in but no problem there we waited.50 mins later the place was filling up so got a bit impatient, the girl at reception started checking people in so we still waited. Clive. Supervisor of the floor who may I add is the biggest asset to this place saved the day. Let me explain. When we finally got checked in we were given room 28. On entering the room all I can describe is horror shock disappointment. The room was a complete dump, old dark dreary, like something daring back 30 years, I had booked the lodge for these dates and cancelled to come here and try it so you can imagine how we felt, completely upset, anyway, went to reception to ask to be moved and clive once again moved us to room 6, ok so got there and guess what? Yes, no better, ground floor right next to outdoor drinking, my God things couldn't have got any worse for us, we just wanted to leave, stood in room for about 3 mins in a panic as to how to handle the situation but there was only one way we could. Went back out again to clive and told him the room yet again wasnt acceptable, there was no way on this planet we were sleeping in any of the rooms we were offered for one night let alone two. Anyway after a bit of persuasion from clive we were shown the honeymoon suite, on inspection it was ok and much better than the other two but by no means in my book a perfect honeymoon suite. The hotel food was nice so no issues there. The rooms need urgent attention and I personally think that they are not acceptable for guests of any description. Talking about description, I don't know what rooms have been revamped and are shown on there website but I did not see or get offered one. Two small ponds outside are a complete and utter disgrace, fish in them will probably be dead by the time I even get home. For gods sake get it sorted, leaves that were picked by your donegal guests are floating around with about 4 years of dirt in with your poor fish. For me clive and a couple of other staff members are the only thing holding this place together. So very angry and upset that I cancelled the lodge to come to this place, sorry to clive as he was really superb. Never ever again will we be back. Place needs closed until rooms and ponds and other things are dealt with. My advice. Avoid avoid avoid.

First of all I would like to say that the spa treatments were good, especially Laura who gave an excellent massage. The rooms were also clean and tidy.
However, the rest of the trip was not positive. We booked on a Friday night where a wedding was also being hosted. The hotel was noisy for most of the evening which was fine, but we were placed on the rooms just off the foyer and were the first rooms which everyone from the wedding passed on the way back to their room. The other guests were extremely noisy and I believe we should have been placed in rooms farther away from the wedding party, as we didn't get any sleep during our stay, and were woken several times during the night. After a night of poor sleep, we were also woken at 9am by the hotel staff taking the bins out beside our rooms.
Next, we booked into the pool in the evening and were in a pool with four children and 6 adults, the children wearing rubber rings and the adults playing ball games. This was not the experience i expected in a spa hotel pool and the staff didn't say anything. The pool was also not big enough for this amount of people, so there was no room to swim.
Finally, we had a lovely dinner in the hotel but it was quite rushed, we got our mains approx 5 mins after we finished our starters and the waiters started clearing our plates before we had actually finished eating.
Really disappointed and for £140 a room for one night I expected a lot better.

Just returned from a weekend break. Quite concerned due to lack of measures in place to prevent spread of virus for staff, residents and customers. Other than a screen at reception and hand sanitising stations none of the staff wore any kind of ppe not even visors!!! I noticed one member of staff wearing gloves and that was it. Breakfast was especially alarming as items left out eg. butters, jams. Hot food was served to you at buffet area but when the lady serving stepped away from area guests started helping themselves. It was almost as through there was no virus!!! Although there was some social distancing signs, none where adhered to by staff or other guests. Although staff were extremely friendly I don’t think we will be returning just in case.

We stayed here for 2 nights as a little getaway for me and my husband to celebrate my 30th birthday.
When we arrived the hotel looks beautiful from the outside and the foyer area was bright and modern.
Unfortunately, although we arrived after the 3pm check in time our room was not yet ready and the receptionist said she’d call us when it was. We waited for a while so decided to ask again, the room was now ready, although no one had informed us.
The corridors to the rooms were dark and dated and we were shocked on arrival to our room that it was not what we expected based on pictures online. It was extremely basic and dated. The bathroom was the worst part. very old, cracked bath panel, manky shower curtain, peeling wall paper, and multiple cobwebs (including some spiders) in the corner of windows. We had 2, small, bath towels, and 1 hand towels and these were to be used for spa as well as room, meaning a wet towel from the pool to be used again after showering!
The spa/pool area was nice with clean, modern communal shower/changing area, although sauna/steam room closed due to Covid.
One downside about the pool was the hotel guests are only allowed to use it 8-9.30am and 5-9.30pm.
Breakfast was enjoyable, self service with plenty of choice.
Unfortunately I don’t think we would return here, which is a shame as it was a great location to enjoy the north coast!

We had a lovely meal and few drinks at the hotel. The reception area have been revamped and looks fab.
Pre-Covid I would have gave a 5 star rating but have removed 2 stars as there are very little Covid controls in place except fot sanitiser. Staff come right up to your face without wearing any face masks or visors which made us feel very uncomfortable. Staff are serving meals and drinks without any face coverings or gloves.

We went for a meal on Friday night, having rang and booked a table and asked if the early bird menu was served till 6.30 as it stated on the website, and we were told it was. Upon arrival given a much more expensive menu as previewed online, when inquiring with the staff we were then informed the early bird menu was not available for another few months. Even though we told the staff we had rang the previous evening they were not very helpful with this matter. Very unsatisfied customers and the menu we did get had very few choices.

Pool not that big and not really suitable for swimming lengths.
10am and it is delicious
Hi there, this hotel does have an indoor swimming pool, although it may be closed due to coronavirus. However there is a local leisure centre called Coleraine Leisure Centre which does have pool facilities although again may be closed due to coronavirus. This hotel is only about a 10-20 mins drive depending on traffic to either castlerock beach or Portrush/Portstewart strand (great beaches).
