The Hotel occupies one of the most picturesque positions on Northern Ireland’s famous coastline, overlooking the Seaside town of Portrush with panoramic views from County Donegal to the Scottish Isles and over to the Giant’s Causeway. The famous Links Course, Royal Portrush Golf Club is also right on our door step with the 4th hole protruding enough for our diners and guests to enjoy. You never know who you might be watching. With plenty of activities in our local area including, Links Golf Courses, the Legendary Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle, beautiful beaches and coastal walks, and lets not forget Irelands Oldest Distillery, which was granted a royal licence to distil ‘uisce beatha’ translated, water of life in Gaelic or as we know it today Whiskey, in 1608, located in Bushmills. These are to name but a few, there is always plenty to do and see for all walks of life.

A superbly located hotel, The Royal Court has it all – well, nearly. The views are truly spectacular and the bedrooms and public rooms are spotlessly clean, very tastefully and stylishly decorated and furnished. The staff are professional, polite and friendly. Joanne, who manages the restaurant, is the very epitome of a good maitre’d, professional to her finger tips, and with a winning personality that warms one’s heart: what an asset she is.
Unfortunately, however, the food is a major disappointment and lets the hotel down rather badly. Not only have the menus not really changed in years, but for the most part the dishes would not have looked out of place on a menu of the 1990’s. The lunch menu is especially dreary, although it seems that the majority of guests opt for the carvery, which is served daily, at both lunch and dinner. (Tried it once and roast potatoes were rock hard, despite just having emerged, steaming hot from the kitchen.)
Moreover, it would appear that the ingredients are all too often of less than superior quality. I am quite a fan of tuna, both fresh (although, alas, not available at TRC) and tinned and having tried them all, I know cheap tinned tuna when I encounter it. The cheese is all but tasteless and the chicken is not far behind.
The dinner menu offers three fish dishes (as well as fish & chips) the design of which seems to be poorly thought through: the salmon and monkfish are both served with a sweet sauce/glaze (yuck and no, thank you) while the sea bass comes with sausage-flavoured (chorizo) noodles! (Thereby excluding non-meat eaters)

Why not buy better and charge more? The prices are, incidentally rather reasonable and so could easily accommodate a bit of a hike. This hotel so, so very much deserves an improved menu.

Stayed a couple of nights for our first break since lockdown. They have certainly adapted well to the 'new normal'. With social distancing, sanitation etc all in place the atmosphere is still very relaxed and comfortable. Staff are all so friendly and food was delicious. Room was spotless and the view from the balcony was amazing!! Although we've eaten here many times this was our first stay - but it certainly won't be our last!

We had reserved a table for 7 on a Wednesday for lunch without realising the hotel was part of the Eat out to help out scheme. We were delighted to get a table with a gorgeous view over Whiterock bay and also to be served such a lovely meal and to find we only had to pay half the normal price. The staff were all so friendly and unflustered although they must have served many customers before us as the restaurant was full and our booking was for 2.15. Well done - shame the scheme is ending in August!

We were given the key to room 104 which had an excellent view of the car park, the air conditioning fans and was well positioned above the smoking area. When we settled down for our nights sleep we realised that there was a continuous noise which sounded very much like a drone. It continued all night. We complained next morning and the receptionist said it was from the air conditioning in main restaurant. We were allocated another room which was no better as it was next to the lift. However, it didn't disturb our sleep. What did disturb our sleep were the plastic mattress protectors. Is this practice common to Northern Ireland because along with heavyweight duvets I awoke during the night covered in sweat. We removed these horible protectors the following day. The hotel has a massive car park, we know it was the only view we had from our window, no sea, bay or golf course. It would have been nice, therefore, to have a sea view from our table in restaurant. How wrong we were, the choice sea view tables were taken by guests who were lucky enough to have a sea view from their rooms. The hotel enjoys great patronage by locals who crowd in for their carvery meals. These local people, it would appear, do not have to abide by the hotels social distancing or mask wearing rules even when selecting from carvery. Hotel residents need to pre book a table in restaurant, not so the diners from outside who very often turn up on the off chance of getting a table.

Breakfast is continental (very limited choice) and hot buffet. If you do not want greasy fried eggs, tough, it's the only way they are served. Mushrooms are cooked in a mixture of butter and cooking fat, a portion of these results in your plate literally swimming in oil. The top quality bacon is well crusified and like cardboard when it reaches your plate. Dinner is "how to make loadsa money out of overpriced food". Battered cod was a prime example. A skinny fillet of tail end covered in a thick layer of batter, accompanied by a mean portion of mushy peas and a very, very vinagary tar tar sauce. If you should dare to want your fish to be served with chips you were expected to pay extra. Value for money, definitely not! Service, on one occasion we ordered a pudding. It did not arrive but they still tried to make us pay for it..

We stayed here for five nights. We chose this hotel mainly because it provided on-site parking, but we would neither return to this hotel or recommend it. We would, however, advise everyone to avoid rooms 104, 105 and 106 unless you are deaf.

For the most part, our stay was going really well until about 9pm, trying to get our 5yr old to sleep, we became more aware of the noise, suddenly realising our family room was positioned DIRECTLY over the main bar. The noise for three hours was bad. I did phone to reception and the manager was to call me back. Needless to say I’m still waiting.

The food was lovely. The room was really nice and clean. The staff were all really lovely too. Whoever positioned the family rooms above the bar clearly doesn’t have kids!

We stayed here for a night away and enjoyed a fabulous dinner in the most spectacular of places. Our room had a balcony and the sound of the waves crashing were the perfect background to a most relaxing stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful, we would highly recommend this gorgeous place!!

A group of four enjoyed Sunday Lunch in the beautiful Dunluce Room overlooking the Whiterocks Beach. The service was first class and we were treated like royalty. The turkey and ham was absolutely delicious as was everything else. Great choice of starters and sweets, something to suit everyone. We will definitely be back again soon.

Whether it be family, friends or business associates I would often have used the royal court for dining. The hotels situation is perfect and very comfortable to relax after a meal. Sadly on my last visit with friends we were not impressed...our food was not overly hot and quite honestly tasteless. The 2 members of staff who waited on us were very through other in appearance and not overly efficient or mannerly. Prices have gone up considerably and I'm aware increases apply in most places now but I did think our meals were much to highly priced...I'm not sure if I will go back again to allow a second chance..time will tell.

Came to the royal portrush on Sunday for the carvery, service and staff were brilliant and very attentive amazing with a young child too. We ordered starters of the main menu which where if a good portion size and tasty. We then went for the carvery where there was a good selection of meats and sides. Great tasting food brilliant portions. Finally we ordered off deserts menu plenty of choice and great tasting. With a cocktail to finish for the women of
The group fresh made with fruit rather than premixed rubbish.

Super hotel on the north Antrim coast. Fantastic setting overlooking Royal Portrush Golf Course and White Rocks. The hotel is traditional in furnishings and facilities and is well run and welcoming. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Great bed and bathroom and was a nice space to spend time in. Very efficient COVID mitigation which was not intrusive. Dinner in the restaurant was varied and tasty and they provided a fulsome and well managed buffet breakfast. A very satisfactory break. Will certainly return.
