At the Causeway Hotel, guests are charmed by an atmosphere that melds a homely feel with a dash of history, all wrapped in cleanliness. The hotel's proximity to the Giant's Causeway and bonus amenities like free visitor center access are particularly popular. Rooms receive mixed reviews, with some guests finding them spacious yet others suggesting they need updating. Giants Causeway was a bucket list item for my recent 50th birthday, and we stayed here last Wednesday night.
After we checked in we discovered that we had been put into a double room and nedeed an extra bed for our teenage son. The duty manager couldn't have been more accommodating and gave my son his own room for free. However, I was uncomfortable with him being on the other side of the hotel from us (he has a type of haemophilia but she wasn't aware of that), she let us have the room next door, which was a large family room to ourselves just so he could stay in his own room. Her customer service was exemplary.
Our rooms were lovely and clean. My only issue was the fact that the step out of the bath was really high and could do with some form of step on the floor to assist anyone who might be vertically challenged!
We had a meal in the restaurant that night which was lovely and breakfast the following morning.
Ideal location for a visit to the Causeway and the entry fee to the visitor centre is included with your stay.
I liked it so much I would like to come back and stay longer - watch this space !

My husband and I returned to the Causeway Hotel for the weekend having previously enjoyed a 4 night stay. The winter warmer rates are such good value for money and once again we had a really relaxing and comfortable stay. Although we were impressed by the friendliness of all the staff we came in contact with things can sometimes go wrong and the true colours of any establishment are shown in how they deal with the situation. Due to a technical hitch in the dining room we had a few issues which, when identified to the manager, were immediately addressed and resolved with an unreserved apology. We felt the manager was genuinely interested in listening to and learning from our experience and we appreciated that she was frank and honest with us. On checking out, we were once again impressed by the professionalism of the reception staff who had obviously been made aware of our minor issues and again sincerely apologised. We appreciated such good customer service and have already made another booking. We have no hesitation recommending a stay at the Causeway as it is a lovely traditional style hotel with welcoming staff surrounded by breathtaking scenery and free access to the Causeway Visitor Centre too.

My wife and I stayed over the weekend and found the causeway hotel to be excellent. This was our first stay here, we have stayed in most places around the north coast and thought to give it a try, and to be honest its the best hotel we have stayed in at the north coast. The room we had was very spacious and had a nice view over the bay towards Nashville, warm cosy and absolutely spotless, bathroom and shower same and again nicely warmed. Bar was really relaxing no tv in sight just a really good laid back atmosphere and the apes were pretty good. Food in the restaurant was first class, I had a pepper stack and the rib eye was bang on point, chicken pan fried but still moist and bushmills cheesecake just rounded of a excellent meal, my wife had the burger and said it was one of the tastiest she'd ever had and again the berry meringue was just as good. But what really made all this work were the staff, from walking into reception to having orders taken at the bar, being greeted and seated for our meals and the ladies greeting you for breakfast were all fantastic, absolutely nicest group of people I have ever meet in one hotel anywhere, and would put some other hotels with higher ratings to shame. Great spot, great food, great people, it's a must if you haven't stayed yet.....we will definitely be returning, thanks again.

Only ordered drinks my Guinness and water spot on. My partner's shandy obviously had lemonade in from a room temperature bottle
(we saw the plastic bottle being used). On complaining about this, the shandy was topped up with more cold lager. Still not cold ...We asked for a half of lager, were given a pint, as we had a business meeting said we couldn't drink all of this, such a waste( original shandy had been poured away). Half pint did appear after staff and management conversation. Based on our receipts, the lemonade was refunded we were originally charged £2.90 for a half pint of room temperature flattish lemonade. Not a good experience sadly

Thank you for your comments, I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your quick drink at the hotel, This is the first complaint that we have had regarding any Shandy we have served. We apologise that on this occasion it was not to your liking. The team member wanted to ensure that your feedback was given to management and your bill which had been charged as a pint of Shandy due to miscommunication, was adjusted so that your bill was accurate.

I had never stayed here before and didn't know what to expect but I was delighted with the whole stay. The room we had was beautifully decorated, quiet and look like it had been recently refurbished to a very high standard. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival after a very stormy drive around the coast and from there the stay got better and better. The room was spotless and the breakfast was a treat with a sea view to compliment it. Included in our room rate was two tickets to go around the Giant's Causeway visitor centre and the Giant's Causeway so simply all in all, for the price we had paid, we certainly got much more than we had anticipated and it supports the National Trust so it was a win win all around

We had a memorable stay here on New Year's Eve. Great experience from start to finish, friendly staff (lady who greeted us at check in gave us a brief history on the hotel), spacious room with a cool outdoors area, cosy little bar and a great breakfast the following morning. It appears every window in this stunning building offers an amazing view of the surrounding scenery given its location. It's also worth noting that entry into the Causeway Museum next door is free for hotel guests. A neat addition. I would greatly recommend the Causeway Hotel, I will certainly be staying here again.

Recently availed of the 'winter warmer' 2 night stay including 2 x 3 course dinner and 2x breakfast. I think it was great value. We had room 7 on a corner so had great views including of the the sea which we much appreciated. Room decor looked like it had been updated recently and the room generally was well equipped and comfortable. Dinner was served promptly and to a highly standard. The halloumi starter came with a balsamic reduction rather than pesto as stated on the menu, but that was ok and I didn't bother mentioning it. The menu on our second night was more extensive and we both had the scampi starter which was quite delicious and perfectly cooked. The tartare sauce with that was as good as I have tasted. Plenty of choice at breakfast. The public areas were, in places, a little tired but that detract from the overall experience for us. Just added a bit of charm to be honest - almost shabby chic. That is definitely a compliment by the way, not a criticism, as we are not that keen on modern, often soulless, hotels with no character. This place is old and characterful. The staff were all most helpful and pleasant. I have to make a special mention of the lady on reception. Her approach to customer service was amazing. She could give master classes on how to manage a hotel reception desk. Thank you

This is by far the Best Hotel in the North Antrim Coast and I have stayed in many up & around the area, I visit here on a regular basis. It has everything you could ask for and more, not only is it like home from home, but has spectacular views, scenery, walks, very central to get out & about around the coast etc. The Hotel Staff are simply amazing and can never do enough for you, you are always greeted with a smile and a kind word, nothing is ever too much trouble. The food is too die for, fresh, hot, served extremely punctual, great variety and plenty of it. You wont be disappointed. The Rooms come equipped with everything you need for your stay, from complimentary tea & coffee, to iron & ironing board etc. You will sleep well in the extremely comfortable beds & pillows. I'm just home from it yesterday & can't wait to go back next month. Worth every penny & its great value for your money. So make sure you a get a trip here soon. Finally a great big thank you to all the Staff who always look after you whether you are on your own or with family & friends. Kimberly xx

Have just returned from a two night stay in the causeway hotel. It was a but disappointing the room we were allocated was no 11 lovely view of back yard and bins, the noise of the extractor fans and the fumes which came into the room far from ideal. The beds were comfortable and very white crisp linens.
The food disappointing I had scrambled egg and smoked salmon on last morning what a joke cooked in the microwave to rubber and cut into chunks with a small piece of salmon on top.
There was no housekeeping done.

This was my first time to visit this hotel and I surely wasn’t disappointed. From the moment you arrive the welcome and atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Rooms very spacious and well decorated. The food and service was 5 star and what blew me away the most is the level of cleanliness. After every guest in the bar, restaurant and I believe bedrooms the seats, tables etc were sanitised with a machine. This is the ideal home from home experience with all the extras. We will be back.

Thank you for looking after us so well. See you soon

Yes, there are taxis available. In fact, one might consider booking what is known as the 'black taxi' they will take you on private tours

That is questionable..depends which rooms are available. Great helpful staff will do their best to make your stay comfortable. You can take the bus down the the causeway itself, but that too would be limited.
