Bath in middle room, romantic for some but I prefer stand alone shower. Guess personal taste but room not for me. Dining disappointing and was biggest issue. Food was very disappointing. Expected more, ended up buying sandwich at Tesco express across road.

Truthfully, we finished up eating here, because it was the only restaurant that had room for us in Welwyn, as it was a last minute decision to meet friends from London & everywhere else was busy. We had read some of the poor reviews & were therefore not expecting much. However, to our surprise, we had an excellent meal. Yes,...

My lovely family arranged for dinner together here. Everything was so disappointing. Apparently a few members of staff called in sick suggestedly because it was Mothers Day. We needed to go to the bar to re order our drinks because they never came. Our meals were a long time coming and some were cold, some had items left off, but...

Went with my partner who had the fish singer sandwich which was acceptable. How I wish I had ordered that. I went for the Chicken and Leek pie in 'vegetable stew'. Hard overbaked thick pastry formed 99.99% of the pie with a smear of chicken and no discernible leek. The vegetable stew was like an unflavoured Japanese curry sauce, massively...

Sad to see this pub not being cared for any more and it's food and hygiene rating is very poor. It was once a place to have a lovely meal but now it's very hit and miss. Great wines and fab Gins -- It's a good place for a glass of something after a walk

We were greeted by very friendly, helpful and friendly staff. They were able to cope with special dietary requirements and instantly understood my needs. This is a very rare thing in my experience over many years. The top quality food was excellent - well balanced and presented. The bed was warm and comfortable and we had good sleep both nights....

Wellington has been a long standing favourite of mine for many years. However last three visits have been v disappointing- no longer my first choice for a local treat. In short, coffee with a friend mid morning : seats v dirty and stained, table not clean, ignored by waiter for ages, who then brought a single coffee for two of...

We have been going to this restaurant for several years and have never had a bad meal-until yesterday. This was a special treat as my son had been extremely ill and we went there expecting the usual standard of cuisine. The restaurant was only about 1/3 full, so no waiting to be seated. The staff were delightful throughout the evening...

Thank you to those of you who found my previous review helpful. Basically I should have had a refund from these guys who failed to serve the food on the menu then lied about their inability to make a simple bearnaise sauce. If you cannot do it then dont put it on the menu. Anyway I thought you might like...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Six bedrooms, each one slightly different, complement the Wellington's award-winning food and service. In keeping with the spirit of a building dating from 1352, we have kept and restored as many of the original features as possible, so you will encounter oak beams, cedar pine floors as well as antique furniture throughout the building. Some rooms even have an open fireplace or a four-poster bed... Each room has also been updated to offer you all the luxuries of contemporary living with plate glass, crisp bed linen and feather-down duvet on hand-sprung mattresses, monsoon showers or deep free-standing slipper baths, free WiFi, flat screen TV and a personal iPod dock/iPhone charger in your room. ... more   less
