I can't believe the negative criticism of the food. Our meal was excellent. The proprietress was most helpful, not only to us, but also to a couple of hikers who had got lost. She gave them a lift to another B&B. It was a more expensive stop, the living room was a bit cold, but all six of us really...

We splurged on this stay during our (mostly budget) walk on Hadrian's Wall path, and the experience was well worth the slightly higher price. The location is very convenient to the Wall path, and the room was huge, with a panoramic view across the valley. I enjoyed a glorious full hot bath as the sun set and wrapping up in...

Went back with Mum, to have a look at Vindalanda and Housesteads Roman gaffs. Large airy room with great views of the valleys, spotless adjacent bathrooms and big fluffy dressing gowns provided, evening meal on first night was local venison and my goodness it was well-prepared and tasty. (Stayed two nights - second night we ate in Hexham, a nice...

I stayed for a night while walking the wall, it's a fantastic location only a few footsteps from the main trail path. After a long days walking from Newcastle I arrived a warm welcome, a nicely layed out room and a huge shared bathroom ( had a very nice bubble bath and shower). The lounge has a lovely open fire,...

I am writing to let everyone know that I have along with my family enjoyed numerous Sunday lunches and were dealt with the service you would expect from a five star restaurant I don't understand how you can criticise on meals at the price they are charging £5 for a main meal and certain people are complaining that the food...

As we live locally we were at Walwick Farmhouse only for their well advertised Sunday Lunch. We had a long wait for orders to be taken. Crab & lobster starter contained bits of shell. Plates arrived with just warm food and main course meat of pheasant, venison and chicken for several of us was under cooked and vegetables bordering on...

I did not stay at this b and b but went there for a Sunday lunch. The menu sounds delicious but the food is not up to scratch. the food we had was either undercooked or over cooked and there were shell fragments in one of the starters. I would recommend giving it a wide berth and going to the...

Had lunch there in April 2013.What a lovely setting sitting at a table overlooking the valley. Fabulous meal with locally sought produce and everything extremely well cooked. Could recommend the soufflé and home made soup. All the main courses were lovely. Venison came from local estate and melted in the mouth. Lamb shanks delightful. My main recommendation, if you have...

Walwick Farmhouse is ideally located for Hadrian's Wall walkers - being right beside the route itself - and meets all the basic expectations of a B&B. Some improvements could make it better value-for-money. I stayed as a single guest - in fact, the only guest on this particular night - and that may have affected how I was treated both...

I arrived at 3pm - perhaps a little early. Phoned their number, no reply. Left message, no reply for two hours. Unwilling to chance no bed for night so moved on. Asked for refund of £25 deposit and met with rude and unpleasant attitude. I understand this is a new venture. Such a surly, miserable response is hardly the stuff...
