It was a wonderful seven-night holiday during fabulous weather. We consumed seven breakfasts and two dinners each, and yes we have some points to make. This was our second visit to what is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location. The greensward, beach and North Sea are just across the road, plenty of benches and a shelter for rainy days. The hotel is easy to find on the junction of Kings Avenue and Kings Parade. There is adequate free parking for residents and guests, but it is necessary to register one’s car at Reception to avoid heavy fines. It is not secure. Reception is well run by pleasant staff. The hotel took great care with ensuring compliance with Government guidelines for Covid-19 restrictions. Our Bedroom, No. 1, on the ground floor, with a side view of the sea, was large and adequately furnished. The beds were comfortable. A kettle, crockery, and glasses for three were provided. A refrigerator and a microwave would have been advantageous. Two large portable fans were provided when requested, both were broken, although the second could be used. The premises do not have general air conditioning, our two windows opened about 4”. They could not be left open at night because an air conditioning unit, labelled ‘Beermaster’ was under one window. It could not be switched off despite our regular requests. The ensuite bathroom, allegedly for use by the disabled, had several deficiencies which were shared with the staff by our providing a plan and a schedule. With the current Covid-19 restrictions we had to service our room, additional supplies were provided promptly, it was not what we are used to on holiday, but it was manageable. It did not detract from our enjoyment of the holiday nor of our stay. Waitress served breakfasts which were very good with full English and other cooked dishes available. The main issue was service was very slow. Strange deficiencies occurred, no cornflakes after the first morning, tubs of marmalade available only on two of seven days. It was not made clear what could be ordered of those items which would in normal times be on the buffet. Dinners were excellent with some enterprising offerings. A couple of healthy options would have been appreciated. Clearly local ingredients were being used where appropriate. The two concerns which come to the surface are 1) too many things ran out or were not available. 2) waiting staff need more training and motivating.

From the moment we arrived at the Kingscliff Hotel in Holland-on-Sea to the moment we left they could not have been more kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble . From the lovely young guys serving lunch in the garden , the happy and kind waitresses at breakfast , the young guy who sorted me out glasses of ice and the lovely women on reception. I don’t normally write reviews but honestly they were superb and for once I decided to put finger to keyboard and make a review ! Also the room we had was beautifully stylish and was larger than many I have had in the past . The hotel looks like it has been recently refurbished. In the beer garden they have a large dome for Prosecco bottomless afternoon teas. The hotel over looks the sea which is well maintained. I would definitely go to this hotel again and will be highly recommending it .

We visited this restaurant for lunch yesterday with friends The menu looked promising and we were looking forward to a nice meal. Unfortunately, the quality was appalling. The batter on the fish was almost burnt, yet saturated with grease and the chips were dark brown and soggy. They appeared to be new potatoes which had been previously cooked then rehashed by deep frying them in old oil for too long at a low temperature. The vinegar and mayonnaise bottles we were given in response to our request were both empty. Foolishly we didn't complain until asked if everything was ok towards the end of the meal. When we said how bad the food was, the response was just "oh, sorry about that", then walking quickly away. We complained again when presented with the bill and indicated the food left on our plates, but the response was much the same, followed by "have a nice afternoon". We weren't looking particularly for a reduction on the bill, but a response implying some level of concern would have been nice. Typically British, we paid up and walked out without making any fuss, but this review is a measure of our annoyance. Incidentally, their Covid awareness was poor compared to other restaurants we have visited.

We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and we have enjoyed our stay. We had a nice room, which included a sofa. The check in and out was easy, the staff are very friendly and helpful. It has nice decor and all the rooms which we have stayed in have been very clean and nicely decorated. They have a lovely restaurant, which we have dined in several times before. We ate there last weekend and thoroughly our meal. I will say the only thing that seems to let this hotel down sometimes are some of the people who eat and drink there. We had this problem this weekend with a table of a big family, adults snd children, whose language and behaviour was disgusting and many people complained about them. We actually asked to move, although we were further away from them we could still hear them! This spoils your night when you have to listen to people like this. We did complain and the staff did try to get this group out as quick as they could. It’s such a shame as the restaurant is lovely and I would recommend eating here if you are staying here. We will definitely be going back as it is such good value as well.
