Ynyshir has changed a bit over the years. It is now ALL about the food and deservedly so. I could bang on all day about flavours, texture and presentation etc but I won't because you should just go and see for yourself. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. The room that we stayed in (Goya)...

This restaurant and rooms deserves more than 5 trip-advisor blobs and more than one Michelin star. It made reviewing other accommodation and restaurants during our week away very hard as it set the bar so high. We were staying in the Chagall Suite which is huge! A delightful sitting room, bedroom with huge floor to ceiling windows and the biggest...

My friend invited me for lunch I have to say it was THE MOST DELICIOUS food I have ever eaten. To start the Not French Onion Soup was so incredible the flavours of each ingredient was so distinct, we had nine courses altogether, we didn't feel too full, we left with very happy taste buds and memories of a very...

Lovely setting and really comfortable place to stay. Great skill and enthusiasm on display from the kitchen which serves a special tasting menu comprising 17 tasters creating a one-off experience. (Not sure how sustainable this can be as a business model as I'm sure many of us would like to return to enjoy the obvious culinary skills served up as...

We stayed in Miro - wow!! It was breathtaking from the views, the décor, the balcony and then you go through to the bathroom. Incredible. Everything about the property is wonderful and, of course, the restaurant is amazing. We loved that the chefs serve each course and explain the ingredients and explain how they are prepared. Each course was creative...

We stayed the night for a birthday treat. The food was sublime. 15+ courses but each a marvel and didn't feel over full at the end. Loved the Japanese influences, the local produce and the table ware. Our room was fabulous as are the grounds and the hotel. Best of all the staff are really friendly and unpretentious but know...

Such a beautiful and stylish boutique hotel! The check in went smoothly and the room we stayed was so beautiful, well decorated and had an amazing view. We had a dinner as well which I would highly recommend. Great customer service. The place itself was so relaxing and peaceful, can't wait to go back!

I booked a lunch taster menu (for three) last minute because the weather was abismal and we decided to postpone a visit to Portmeirion. The gods were on my favour! The food was first class as was the ambience and service second to none. Set in a stunning location, Ynys Hir has kept the grandeur of yesteryear with a contemporary...

This was our second lunch at Ynyshir although our first since their re-invention as a Restaurant with Rooms. I very much like the new design and decor which is classy without being fussy. As for the food it's still sublime. Light, fresh and utterly fascinating. There's a Japanese/Far Eastern twang to a lot of the dishes with miso and soy...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ynyshir is a five star restaurant with rooms near the Snowdonia National Park, Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. The Michelin Star restaurant at Ynyshir is one of Wales' best contemporary fine dining destinations and holds four AA rosettes - one of only two restaurants in Wales to hold this distinction. Michelin Star chef Gareth Ward serves alternative British tasting menus using the very best of Welsh and British produce. The menus showcase the best of Welsh ingredients following the seasons, such as Welsh Wagyu Beef and Anglesey Onions throughout the year, as well as locally foraged sea herbs from the estuary and greens from the woodland floor and Ynyshir's extensive gardens. During hunting season expect to see wild deer and local duck, grouse and partridge, and in summer Welsh Lamb from the Dyfi valley. Gareth and his team pickle, salt, ferment and preserve fruits, leaves and berries carrying the harvests through the winter and into the spring. Expect to see dishes such as 'Not French Onion Soup', 'Mackerel Sweet & Sour' and Gareths take on a Tiramisu all served alongside a carefully selected wine-list whilst overlooking the Cambrian mountains and Ynyshir's extensive gardens Ynyshir has a total of ten luxuriously furnished guest rooms, each with its own unique style and character. There are seven rooms within the main house and three deluxe rooms directly adjacent. Each guest room has an en-suite with a separate bath and shower and feature premium Temple Spa products. Most rooms offer views over the gardens and Cambrian Mountains. ... more   less
