We made reservations here for November 2015. A few months prior to our reservation we were notified that the roof had collapsed and they were cancelling the reservation. This year we attempted to make another reservation but could not get a definite yes or no so be booked another hotel but we're quite anxious to see Hacienda Jalisco. After visiting...

Visited Hacienda Jalisco as part of the San Sebastián del Oeste outing organized through Vallarta Adventures. This was a more easy-going outing, but our guides (Gabriel and the bus driver Alonso) were so awesome! I learned so much during the day, as Gabriel really knows his stuff and helped us understand the rich history behind the haciendas and the surrounding...

Took the full day trip to Hacienda Jalisco and San Sebastian which included a visit to a beautiful tequila distillery along the way. Adrianna was our enthusiastic and informative tour guide whilst Fidel drove us safely around all day with jokes and a friendly smile. The tour cost $92 which is great value for money, we were out from 8am...

It was a wonderful day. Fantastic tour guide (Adolfo) and driver (Cesar). Went for a full day trip visited small shops, Tequila distillery (Don Lalin distillery and how he makes it himself... Soon to be a world famous brand... It is very good) a coffee plantation (the coffee is great and the chocolate covered expresso beans are to die for)...

Tour #2 with Vallarta Adventures Feb9/16. Having been on one tour already, (off-road adventure) we were really looking forward to another one. What really topped off excitement was getting Gabe for the second time!! We were so pumped we ran up and gave him a big hug. Again - Same beautiful meeting place, light breakfast and clean bathrooms. Because the...

We did a private tour to San Sebastian with Gina (instead of a tour company) and she brought us to Hacienda Jalisco for a visit which took us back in time. She explained the history of the Hacienda and how they mined silver and even mercury before the Mexican Revolution. She also told us the story of how Elizabeth Taylor...

We were on our way to San Sebastian and stopped for a few hours at Hacienda Jalisco to roam the grounds and view the property. It is rustic, but quaint. If you are looking for luxury this won't be your choice. But if you are looking for authentic atmosphere, this will be your choice.

If you're looking for rustic, Mexico's past, good coffee & John Huston lore; organic fruits & vegetables picked daily from the onsite gardens ... not to mention a shot of Raicilla from the distillery down the road, or walking along a jungle path to the nearby village of San Sebastian del Oeste ... getting a fantastic tour & history lesson...

We traveled by road from Puerto Vallarta on the way to San Sebastian del Oeste. The gated road to the Hacienda is located on the Left Side be for San Sebastian. We parked and walked into the Hacienda and were met with the caretaker. No WIFI, etc and nice friendly dogs. The upper floors are for the bed breakfast/dinner and...

Easily accessible by bus from Pto. Vallarta. Lovely two mile walk along the creek to the village of San Sebastian. Spacious room, huge tiled bathroom, gorgeous views from the veranda. Joe made us feel very welcome, and even his dog accompanied us on an evening walk. The gourmet dinner was delicious. Thank you.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hacienda Jalisco is a 280 year old Mexican Hacienda located in the Sierra Madre mountains above Puerto Vallarta. No electricity - oil lamps at night. Each room has a fireplace. Fruits and vegetables grown on the property. At 280 years old, the Hacienda Jalisco is not the Four Seasons - but it is truly the "real Mexico" - charming, quiet, peaceful, full of history. Museum on site. The Hacienda Jalisco was built by the Spanish upon discovering silver in San Sebastian and was built to process the silver. Recent painting and renovations have brought great improvement. Recommended for painters, writers, honeymoon couples, birdwatchers, history buffs, mining buffs or anyone who would like an easy get-away from the hustle and bustle of the city. As well, we grow, process and roast our own coffee! ... more   less
