Detailed Reviews
Family run hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms well appointed, warm and reasonable size. Ours did not have a bath, which we would have preferred, so best to ask at booking time as we know some guests had a bath and would have preferred a shower!
The hotel has good parking, free, and is very handy for the bus only a minutes walk. Use Ski Shop Felix for ski rental, the hotel didn't tell us but we got 20% discount, staff were extremely helpful there.
Friendly dogs greet you, the dining room is spacious, swimming pool and sauna too plus pool table and a nice touch is books to read if the weather is dire. TV has poor channels for the UK, if that is a worry to you.
Breakfast is great, plenty choice, hot options filled up little and often so always fresh, nice breads, home made jams, cakes and pastries. Evening meal a set option, but I believe they will do something for you if you prefer but we liked it all. Tasty, good portions, very hot and variety. Delicious cheeseboard too and coffee served afterwards in the lounge, had to pay for hot water but there is a cost to provide anything so I guess fair.
If I had any complaint I would say that the fondue evening was not value for money compared to all the other meals, ample fondue and they would top it up if necessary as they would give extra potatoes etc but it just needed a lot more salad. The pudding was a bought in meringue thing too.
I would definitely return and have already recommended to family friends.

Really lovely, quiet, friendly, clean and cosy chalet style hotel. Room 25 was cosy, nice size balcony and looked into beautiful scenery. The staff very helpful and always smiling. Close to a button lift providing there is enough snow in the town, failing that a short walk to the main Pleney Lift or the SM lift to Avoriaz and beyond.
Immaculate dining area. Good choice at buffet breakfast. Evening meals a high standard , perhaps would have liked a choice for a ‘main’ within the set 4 courses. It was never a problem if we chose just 2 of the 4 courses...
Whilst we chose not to use the pool/sauna facilities they looked fantastic. You were supplied with a lovely towelling robe in your room should you wish to venture down.
Rooms were cleaned daily. If you wished you could change your towels daily.
Beds were really comfy, big, and ample bedding. We had a room with a shower, which I was happy with, lovely hot water every time...my partner missed a bath.
Morzine town is vibrant once off the slopes with a few shops and plenty places to eat.
We would absolutely recommend this hotel and definitely return if we venture back to Morzine! Thank you for a perfect week!

This is our third trip to the Sporting but we hadn't been since 2015, we were pleased to find the same high standards remained. The same family were running the hotel, lovely French style in the rooms, very comfortable, traditional, clean and cosy. We stayed half board, B&B option also available, the evening meal was excellent very high standard, as was the breakfast. The spa area was a welcome relax after day on the slopes. The hotel is calm and relaxing, close to the ski area and hire shops (less than 5 min walk) but far enough from the centre to benefit from the lovely quiet mountain surroundings.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be back next year!

Family run hotel. Excellent location. Not sure about Morzine village for restaurants etc seemed very basic but skiing was good particularly with links to Avoriaz etc. Food in hotel very good except on Fondue evening which might be traditional but felt we paid a lot of money for very little.
All staff lovely and would go back happily.

The hotel is in a good location with a bus stop across the road which drops off at the gondola in town or one which links directly to Avoriaz. It is far enough away to not suffer with noise from late night revellers in town.
Food is of a very good standard with a four course dinner served by really friendly and professional waiting staff. There is no choice of food so if you don’t eat anything that’s on the dinner menu which is displayed in reception then inform the staff well in advance for an alternative.
The level of cleanliness is excellent and the room was beautifully cleaned each day.
The reception staff (owners) are not overly friendly and I feel had they made an effort to talk to us I would have given 5 stars!

Fantastic family run hotel. Friendly and welcoming owners. The evening four course menu was excellent, this was a highlight of our stay. Also the buffet breakfast was a great way to start the day. The service from our waiter “Christ”was first class with any issues being no trouble at all. It is in a great location only a short walk to Pleney lift or the Ski bus will take you for free and stops just outside the Hotel. There is a small warm boot and ski room but we opted to leave ours at our hire shop in town. The hotel has a pool and a steam and Sauna room in the basement area, it has a small cozy bar area, a lounge, TV area and a pool table. The WI FI was fine and I never had any issues whilst there. I would not hesitate to stay there again it’s comfortable, welcoming and a good hotel with a gentle warm atmosphere.

Overall cant fault the hotel its self. Clean and decent for a ski holiday. The waiters and cleaners were lovely and went above and beyond for us. Especially Coralie and Cristoph. One downside to the restaurant is the lack of food options for dinner, it is a set menu and thats all. So all round nice hotel however the owners/ reception staff had absolutely no customer service skills what so ever. I'm not sure if this is down to the language barrier or if they genuinely just do not care. We had no warm welcome, anything we asked for always seemed to be too much. We felt as if we were being a nuisance asking for anything in the end. I would not stay again purely down to the fact that the customer service was appalling from the people who actually ran the hotel.

Be aware that certain behaviors are inappropriate and unwelcome in hotels in France. We are committed to providing a warm welcome to our customers so that they have a good stay at the Sporting. Unfortunately, some customers do not seem to understand that respect for others and good manners are important when staying at the hotel.

+1
Beautiful, exceptionally clean and comfortable hotel. The Passaquin-Bouvet family clearly take pride in their business, they are so polite and welcoming. The four/five course meals were delicious and breakfast buffet sets you up for the day. A special mention to the 2 guys who were our waiters in the evening, they were really friendly and attentive and the housekeepers that ensured our rooms were cleaned and smelling fresh everyday. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and if I visited Morzine again, I'd definitely stay here.

Lovely hotel with a really convenient ski bus stop right outside. Staff were lovely, really friendly and welcoming, even the dogs seemed happy to see us. Room wasn't quite ready on arrival but we were able to store our luggage and go for a drink in town. Room was lovely. We had a third bad which we used as a sofa. Lovely little balcony overlooking the pool and the garden. Really good shower and a separate loo. It looked pretty much new so not sure when it was refurbished. The pool, sauna and steam room were a very welcome treat after a day skiing and there were towels provided and bathrobes in our room.
We stayed on a half board basis. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty on offer. An egg boiler with timers, cereals, fruit, yogurts, breads, cake, cheese, ham etc and a hot selection of bacon, sausage, beans and scrambled egg. Unlimited tea and coffee. Fruit juices.
Evening meal was waiter service. Allocated a table for the duration and a set 4 course dinner which I thought was excellent. It was closer to fine dining that usually experienced in a ski hotel but this was fine with us! We loved the food. There is a cheese fondue night one night and this was lovely. Drink prices were reasonable.
All in all a lovely stay in a lovely hotel. We couldn't fault it. Reading some of the reviews, yes it is a set evening meal but it is advertised in the morning so I am sure if there was an issue it would have been resolved. A couple of times there were desserts I couldn't eat because of allergies and they were replaced with no fuss at all. The 2 young people in the restaurant were and absolute credit to the hotel and we found all the staff to be pleasant, friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned to a high standard daily with clean towels.
We did take a travel kettle and a couple of cups as we like a drink in our room so that would be a tip I would give. Hairdryer provided so no need to pack one!
Can't comment on ski storage as we used a shop that provided it for us but from other guests it appeared good.

The rooms were clean and the food was good but no choice in the evening! The waiters were friendly and helpful. The boot room was very small but adequate for what we needed. The staff on reception were unwelcoming and abrupt. They were not happy when we arrived before check in was open. We didn’t actually want to check in, just wanted to get changed somewhere to get out skiing.
No breakfast provided on our last morning ( we had an early pick up) even though we had paid for 4 nights half board so they could have packed us something up!
When we left nobody asked if we had enjoyed our stay etc. Whilst the hotel itself was lovely the reception staff let the whole experience down.

Response from , Owner at Hotel Le Sporting
Responded 31 Jan 2024
Dear Madam, Dear Sir, We thank you for your complimentary comments on the good performance of our establishment. As for your few negative remarks, we would like to provide you with some clarifications that you neglected to specify in your comment. Indeed, regarding your arrival, we sent you a message to know your approximate arrival time (this, in order to be able to have the rooms prepared as a priority in the event of an early check-in), email remained without response from your go ! Please note that you arrived at the hotel at 12:15 p.m. even though the reception was closed for half an hour. Of course, we came immediately and were able to give you 1 room out of the 2. A response to our message to announce your arrival in advance could have given you an immediate and impeccable welcome. For your information, our set menus are displayed for the week at reception and a small note is sent to you to inform you that an alternative will be prepared for you if you do not like a dish (this is subject to reservation before 5:00 p.m.). And it is clearly indicated on all our descriptions how half board works, and moreover, you had already stayed at the hotel before, so you knew how it worked. And what about your comments regarding breakfast...breakfast is available from 7:30 a.m....of course, after spending 4 alcoholic days with behavior that may have shocked many of our other guests staying at the same period, you certainly did not have the presence of mind to warn us that you were going to leave the hotel at 6:00 a.m....otherwise, we would have organized an "early" breakfast for you, something that we are used to doing this when our customers notify us....but this was perhaps prepared on your part, since we had to "run after" you at 6:00 a.m. in order to be able to collect your bill.. .as we also had to "run after" you in order to be able to get us to pay for the ski passes at the hotel. In summary, if you want to spend 4 alcoholic days in an impersonal establishment, forgetting your good manners and respect, do not choose Sporting. All our customers, as well as the staff, will be grateful to you.

I have only been there in the winter but I imagine the ski/boot room would be okay for bikes. There is a access from within the hotel and from a secure door to the outside.
For the evening meal include in the half-board you can come anytime between 19.15 and 20.15 to begin your meal.
The restaurant "à la carte" is open from 19.15 to 21.00 ( on reservation and depending of the period and availbility).
Morzine is relatively low but beginning of March should be fine. I have been going for past 18 years and find the beginning of season a little challenging but by March there is normally sufficient snow for the most profficent skier. Being part of the Port Soleil area there is a vast area to ski and approx 200 ski lifts, so if snow is sparse in Morzine you can always get a lift from the centre of town to the higher resort of Avoriaz. Plenty to do when not skiing and very pretty. Hotel Sporting is very central, with nice facilities and lovely staff.
It's 10 E per week for 2 devices if you are in a standard room, if in a superior room, it is free.
