Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I rarely am deceived as I usually expect nothing, especially when opting for a lower budget hotel without AC. BUT... If you then realize that the bed for 2 is barely 120 cm wide, the bathroom has neither a window to be opened nor a working exhaust vent, etc. etc. sleepless nights are programmed. The owner probably saw our disappointment and talked to us the first morning: At first he seemed genuinely interested asking what he could do to make our stay more comfortable. BUT... his main line of arguing (without us having requested anything at all nor sought a conversation in the first place) was that he has only a low budget hotel and suffers from other guests (apperantly in two other rooms the guests broke something in the bathroom). So our one and only request was me asking politely if it is possible to have a little fan. It was replied by a long explanation that he offers only low budget rooms and that for having an AC he would have to rent the rooms at a much higher rate. We didn't ask for AC, but a little fan. So I went to a store in town and got myself a fan for 35 EUR so we could at least fall asleep our other two nights.

Response from Sonia THIBAUT, Propriétaire at P'tit Dej Hotel Royan Corinna

Bien cordialement,

The hotel is near Royan city center and the beach. You may not have a sea view but instead 2 amazing hosts. It's a small cozy place, great for couples The rooms and bedding are clean. And the beds are really comfortable. I would also really recommend to have breakfast too, nice bread, good products. They strictly respect the COVID-19 instructions ! I highly recommend for your stay in Royan

We stayed for 2 nights at the end August / beginning of September. The room was small but very clean and had everything you could want ( but no a/c). The location and free private parking were excellent. The breakfast was fine. Overall fantastic value for money at 60 euros per night for the two of us

Only being classed as a 2 star rated hotel, we were not sure what to expect. We were totally surprised. The location of the hotel to the centre of Royan , a 5 min walk, the quality of the accommodation exceeded our expectations, friendly and courteous staff. Nothing was any trouble. Truly deserve our 5 points on all accounts. Will definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

I arrived when it was in the low to mid 30's and the room (at the top of the hotel) was baking. No aircon. Asked for a fan. No joy there either. Shutters did a good job of keeping the sunlight out but stultifyingly warm and still. In the middle of the night had to raise the shutters and was assailed by noise from the local rowdies, so good job I had my biking earplugs. Sink didn't work properly either and I had to do some DIY plumbing to be able to let the water out. Should have been picked up at inspection. Breakfast next day was a simple and rather soulless affair. overall, probably the most disappointing hotel of my trip.

stopped here for one night whilst riding to the Dordogne on our motorbikes. Was ideal with the off road parking. We were spoilt for choice for places to eat. The hotel is lovely and well maintained. The proprietor is very friendly. Bed very comfy had a fab nights sleep.

We stopped for just one night, arriving late but were given a warm welcome and a recommendation for dinner in town which was about 10 minutes walk away. It's in quiet location with enclosed private and free parking.

It's the Wandering Yank here. Thanks to TripAdvisor's reviewing community, we chose the Corinna, a great decision. It's quaint, and the owners are very nice (but I'm not sure whether they speak English, so be prepared). The room was very comfortable. We were upstairs, and there is no elevator, so be sure to request a ground floor if you need it. It's just up the street from the ferry to Bordeaux, very handy. The owner suggested Le Petit Bouchon for dinner, a great suggestion (see my review). 2 thumbs up!

We stayed at the Hotel Le Corinna for one night. We were made to feel very welcome the moment we stepped through the door. The staff are able to speak English and with the little French I speak, there were no communication problems at all. The hotel has two floors but no lift. There are some rooms on the ground floor though ,so don't let this put you off. There is no air con. but even in August we found if we closed the shutters and left the windows open -the room was cool enough for a pleasant night's sleep. We stayed in room 16, on the second floor, which overlooked houses on the street. The bed was on the small side but very comfortable and spotless bed linen. Because this hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of main Royan it was quiet and peaceful on the street outside. It is only a five minute walk from the hotel to the nearest beach and ferry terminal. There is a large car park at the hotel which is locked at night plus safe on street parking if you arrive late. The breakfast was lovely and consisted of yoghurt, apple compote, baguette, pastries and many different mini biscuit/cakes served with butter/jam/honey/nutella. Fresh orange juice and tea/ coffee was served to you either in the dining room or on the terrace. There are no facilities in the room for making drinks but the dining room doubles as a tea room during the day. I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely 2 star hotel and would love to visit here again one day.

Spent a night at this hotel on 14 July 2006. It is run by a lovely couple. Friends also staying there turned up late in the evening at the train station and couldn't get a taxi. They called the hotel and in the poorest french told the owner 'I am the train station'. The owner had the intuition to fill in the missing word and jumped in his car to go and collect then. You can't put a price on such friendliness when you are lost. The room was basic but clean and comfortable, having an ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was on the terrace in a blaze of sunshine. There is plenty of parking, and the hotel is 5 minutes walk from the sea and the town centre.
