Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Driving to Florida from Texas is a long drive. Stayed at the Beau Rivage which is about halfway, our room was clean and and the bed was very comfortable. The AC worked great I like sleeping in a cold room. The casino was fun!

On arrival the reception was excellent and very welcoming. The room was just what we asked for with a balcony, terrace and sea view. The location was excellent with easy walking to restaurants and shops. We managed to park in front of the hotel although parking was not easy but free.

This hotel is well situated for the smaller Foncillon beach - directly opposite the front door. We parked outside the hotel for free. We chose economy rooms but they had no air con. The other hotel rooms were much larger and had a better bathroom/shower so we now know for next time ! We enjoyed our breakfasts, plenty of choice for us.

Great wifi Best breakfast we have had so far this trip- plentiful selection of breads / cereal and ham and cheeses. Brilliant view of the Port and the Atlantic Ocean Easy walk to the sea front and some amazing restaurants. Bathroom and restaurant have undergone a refurb ... rooms a tad small but everything was there included my tea/coffee and toiletries. On street parking was free Would highly recommend and great value for money.

We stayed here for 3 nights over the Violon sur Sable weekend. Good points: Nice views, fresh decor, very clean, modern bathroom, maid service very good, shower good. Coffee, tea and a kettle good but no milk available.😞 Great location for fabulous Foncillon beach, free parking in adjacent streets, nice coastal walk from here to Pontaillac. Bad points: VERY noisy location. Traffic all day, every day and till 2 am usually. Cars queueing opposite all day for the ferry across the Gironde. Late night street noise from the town teens. Shutters do reduce the noise well....but no air gets in overnight and there is NO AIR CON. in the rooms, only in the restaurant. Receptionist not welcoming - totally disinterested. No BAR ....unless you eat in the restaurant. Reception often unmanned. Hard to get ice for your drinks. No cafes or bars nearby except a beach bar but we didnt know about it and it ckoses early. No fridge and you really need this in summer. Nearest supermarket is a 12 minute walk away.

We happened to be in Royan when an Old Comrades reunion was taking place - so most hotels near the Conference centre were full. L'Embarcadere had 2 rooms, one had a balcony - we chose. The Hotel is geared to Business Users, and one night stayers. Parking is a problem as the Hotel is on the main sea front road that leads down into the port (for the ferry across the Gironde - hence the name. The Hotel is part of a long concrete block of buildings, and is on the end nearest the Conference Centre. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, but it was SMALL. We had to walk sideways around the bed, and the toilet was situated in a niche that was barely wide enough to get my shoulders into! If you are of a smaller stature you won't have a problem. There is a Resaurant in the hotel, but we were advised to go down to the port. The Breakfast is served in the resaurant - and it was excellent. Hot and Cold Buffet, Bread & Jams and good service.

From the outside this hotel looks rather run down and in need of a re-paint so intial feelings were of disappointment. At reception, however, after being greeted in a very friendly and welcoming way intial fears were dissipated. Our rooms on the first floor were spotless but on the small size, with a balcony overlooking the beach. The rooms had electronic window shutters and double glazed windows which were efficient at cutting out the road noise below. The breakfast was continental style with freshly squeezed juice and plenty of bread, jams etc.Service was warm and friendly. Room and breakfast cost were very good value for money.Down side lack of private car parking. We managed to park on the street near the hotel in May but imagine parking would be far more difficult in high season.

Having read the two reviews that are currently shown on your site, my husband and I were a little wary as to what to expect from Beau Rivage. Well, we've just returned from a week's stay there. In one word - it was delightful. The position of this hotel is excellent - so close to the sea and all amenities. Our room with balcony had a fantastic view of the Gironde estuary. Unfortunately, we do not have a digital camera so are unable to upload any of the photos we took. We were on demi-pension. They serve a traditional French breakfast with delicious baguettes, various jams etc. A very pleasant extra was freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice prepared to order. The three-course evening meal was always very tasty. It's a pity that the evening meal is only served from Monday to Friday. We personally prefer not to have to eat out in the evening. They have a very small staff but they all appeared to be very efficent, hard-working and extremely friendly. We hope to return this year in early Autumn

My wife and I passed through Royan on our way to Spain...Apparently this town is a thriving French vacation town in the summertime as evidenced by the long beaches found here... As this was the low season we were able to get an ordinary room with a balcony overlooking the beach and ocean for 65 Euros... The hotel was clean and nice...If I'm ever back in Royan I'd stay here again...
