#2 of 6 in Allendale
The Kings Head is a beautiful Grade II listed building set in the heart of the picture postcard village of Allendale, Northumberland. Situated on the market square, we are ideally located to make the most of the village and its amenities. The pub itself has five guest rooms, one twin, two double and two king size, all of which have either a private bathroom or en-suite shower room. Each room is centrally heated to make your stay cosy in the colder periods and comes equipped with a TV, tea & coffee making facilities and your towels. We can also provide ironing facilities for you to use if you require. Our staff are smartly dressed and always wear a smile on their face. We assure you of a warm friendly welcome to make you feel relaxed and comfortable in our traditional surroundings. Once you’re settled into your room, you may fancy a drink and a chat in our homely bar area. Why not try one of our quality cask ales or a warming spirit from our collection. We also stock a range of keg beers and lagers as well as soft drinks for those who want something non-alcoholic. Our small kitchen prepares fresh ‘pub grub’ which is served in our comfortable dining area. Chat to our locals who regularly visit the pub. They’ll tell you tales of the area and give you the low down on the lesser known routes to explore on your travels. Walk out of the front door and you are ready to set out on a journey of exploration in the gorgeous Allen Valley’s area. No need to take the car, just put on those walking boots and set off in any direction. You’ll be reveling in the amazing views and stunning scenery in no time at all. For those wanting to visit local attractions, then we have it here waiting for you. How about a visit to the famous High Force Waterfalls where you can stand in awe at the amazing power of water or Hadrian's Wall to see how the Romans lived. There's plenty to see and do so come on, pay us a visit and get away from it all.

I spent an evening at the Kings Head, starting off sitting at the tables in the Square enjoying a pint and conversation with fellow drinkers, who were new to me. I then moved inside to sit by the bar and enjoyed chatting away. Overall a friendly pub experience.

I bought my father (80+) back to the place of his birth - his first time back in over 50 years. The Kings Head was the perfect place to stay. A spotlessly clean pub with rooms. Friendly, genuine people behind and in front of the bar. Caroline worked so hard to look after us beautifully. I am so grateful, my father had the best time and only good memories. Thank you

Spent one night in Allendale and wife picked the place to stay. Decent pub downstairs, they type you settle into and not leave for hours. Very cozy room, clean and comfortable bed, had such a good nights sleep. Didn’t stay for breakfast as we slept so well we over slept but it did smell delicious. Staff are great, thank you.

Booked in for one night when walking through charmimg Allendale Town. The Kings Head is located on the main square by several shops. The welcome was friendly, the room clean, comfortable and quiet. The kitchen is closed for dinner (due to staff shortages -- which are common at the moment but a table was booked for me at the pub next door. Breakfast was available however and it was great. Recommended!

Allendale is a compact village centred on a square. The King's Head occupies a commanding situation on the square. It seemed to be a popular venue for outdoor drinks on a summer's evening. I stayed one night here whilst walking through the area. Booking in was straight forward, despite all the Covid regulations. My room was spacious and well appointed. A good bathroom is always a bonus when walking. They were not doing evening meals because of staff shortages, but that was no problem as there was a Coop on the square for food to fulfil supper. There was some noise from the square with late night drinkers, but that did not affect my sleep. Breakfast was OK with plated Covid food. I was the only person staying, forget what Booking.com try to tell you. A nice traditional inn for a night.
