I spent an evening at the Kings Head, starting off sitting at the tables in the Square enjoying a pint and conversation with fellow drinkers, who were new to me. I then moved inside to sit by the bar and enjoyed chatting away. Overall a friendly pub experience.
I bought my father (80+) back to the place of his birth - his first time back in over 50 years. The Kings Head was the perfect place to stay. A spotlessly clean pub with rooms. Friendly, genuine people behind and in front of the bar. Caroline worked so hard to look after us beautifully. I am so grateful, my father had the best time and only good memories. Thank you
Spent one night in Allendale and wife picked the place to stay. Decent pub downstairs, they type you settle into and not leave for hours. Very cozy room, clean and comfortable bed, had such a good nights sleep. Didn’t stay for breakfast as we slept so well we over slept but it did smell delicious. Staff are great, thank you.
Booked in for one night when walking through charmimg Allendale Town. The Kings Head is located on the main square by several shops. The welcome was friendly, the room clean, comfortable and quiet. The kitchen is closed for dinner (due to staff shortages -- which are common at the moment but a table was booked for me at the pub next door. Breakfast was available however and it was great. Recommended!
Allendale is a compact village centred on a square. The King's Head occupies a commanding situation on the square. It seemed to be a popular venue for outdoor drinks on a summer's evening. I stayed one night here whilst walking through the area. Booking in was straight forward, despite all the Covid regulations. My room was spacious and well appointed. A good bathroom is always a bonus when walking. They were not doing evening meals because of staff shortages, but that was no problem as there was a Coop on the square for food to fulfil supper. There was some noise from the square with late night drinkers, but that did not affect my sleep. Breakfast was OK with plated Covid food. I was the only person staying, forget what Booking.com try to tell you. A nice traditional inn for a night. …
