Detailed Reviews
Our host got us settled in our rooms and then served tea along with home made bread and muffins. He suggested several restaurants to check in Kenmare. The house was full of books and our host was a great source of information. Breakfast was great. Maureen served breakfast while our host cooked. We enjoyed talking with both of them. Fresh fruit on the side table, home made bread and muffins and fresh squeezed orange juice were waiting. We all had porridge, some had french toast with fruit and the others had a traditional breakfast. Everything was excellent. We enjoyed our stay and wished we had more time in this area. We would definitely stay here again.

This house has been a B and B for a long time, and the owners care about having a warm welcoming place for visitors. Breakfast room was warm and decorated with many Waterford glass golf trophies won by our host Tom. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order with many options available. Received great recommendations about what to do and see and where to eat. Beautiful hedges and landscaped yard. Great location for exploring Kerry County. Especially enjoyed trip to Dingle!

during our roadtrip along Irish wild Atlantic west coast we stayed in B&B Birchwood. Host Tom was super friendly and his breakfast was great. Also, the B&B offers nice hike & bike opportunities nearby. For example the Gougane Barra Forest Park of Coillte (nice hikes) or just biking back over the pass from the Forest Park to Kilgarvan.
nearby village of Kenmare offered great dinner opportunities. Lovely place, and not that crowded like Killarney.

Great accommodation! Very nice and clean room and an excellent high-quality breakfast with delicious home-baked bread. Tom is a great and very warm host who is keen to make sure everyone feels comfortable and always has a tip for things to do.

Staying 3 nights at the Birchwood Bed and Breakfast was the delight. A delightful house and grounds, beautiful rooms, quiet and the most splendid breakfasts. On arrival we were greeted by Tom the owner with cups of tea/coffee and homemade cakes which were a daily occurance on arrival back at the B&B. Tom was a wealth of information and made suggestions as to what to see and do in the area. Thanks to him we visited the Beara Peninsula instead of the Ring of Kerry. Beautiful scenery and quiet. Would have liked to spent more time here but will be back. Thanks Tom for hanging our washing on the line outside to dry.

Toms selfmade teabread with a cup of tea we received at welcome was delicious. And that was only the beginning. The nice and comfortable bedroom, the beautiful breakfast, the quiet surrounding, Tom's help and advices for trips in the region and Tom's care about us made our stay at Birchwood a pleasure.
If we come back to Ireland, we come back to Birchwood B&B for sure.

My daughter and I spent two nights at this lovely B&B.
Tom is an excellent host, full of local tips and advice. Always ready to make you a cuppa and makes a delicious breakfast. Rooms are lovely, clean and spacious. Stunning countryside view from front rooms. Thanks Tom.

Birchwood was a beautiful B&B nestled in lovely surroundings. The house was warm and welcoming with a beautiful view and stunning plantings with a stream. Tom was fabulous and went above and beyond to accommodate us. We had to unfortunately leave him early in the morning to make it to Skellig Michael on time. We insisted he not worry about us for breakfast but bless him he got up early and served us coffee, tea, toast, brown bread and cinnamon bread with jams, cereal and fruits and juices. It was a wonderful surprise and quite appreciated. I wish we had had more time to spend with him as he was a treat to meet and easy to talk to. He was like a long lost friend. If we ever make it back to Ireland, we will definitely work into our schedule to make it back to Birchwood. Highly recommend.

Amazing breakfast!!!!
Beautiful clean room, quiet tranquil, 2 night stay. We were on an amazing Chi Kung course in the local area with Joan, and this B&B was absolutely perfect! Kilgarven is a beautiful place to visit.
Tom went out of his way to welcome us with tea and homemade cakes. We had bottled water in our room, Tom is a great host!

My family stayed here at short notice as our previous accommodation had overbooked. Were 2 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 11. Lovely clean and well appointed room. Really big lawn for the kids to play on. Really nice freshly cooked breakfast, as well as lots of other options. Tom is a great host who wants everyone to enjoy their stay and enjoy this beautiful part of Ireland. If I needed to use a B@B in this area again this is the one I would use.
