This is the perfect place to stay on the rugged and unspoilt Beara Peninsula. Our lodge is situated at the base of the Healy Pass on the Wild Atlantic Way. Every effort is made to ensure that all our guests have a comfortable and relaxing stay and plenty of advice is available on what to do whilst visiting the Beara Peninsula. The accommodation is varied with a single room, double & family rooms - some ensuite. Our lodge guests have the use of a fully equipped kitchen. Glamping accommodation consists of a Log Cabin (max. 4 persons) which shares the facilities of the Lodge i.e. kitchen, toilets, showers and common room. We also have a Stone Cottage (max. 2 people) and a Glamping Pod (max. 3 people), both with their own facilities i.e. kitchenette, toilet and shower. We have plenty of camping space available on our fully serviced camping site. We welcome tents, caravans and motorhomes.

My son (aged 5) and I camped here in a tent for a few nights earlier this month. This area is a perfect base for exploring the whole of the Beara peninsula. Owen and Barbara were very welcoming, friendly and helpful from the minute we arrived. The toilets and shower facilities were spotless which is always a huge bonus to any campsite! Plus HOT showers!! 👍🏼..
Lastly, what made this place so memorable to us was that there is a designated mini forest/wooden area where you can get her your woods and build a proper camp fire! Very very few places would even allow this, despite it making every evening much more exciting and enjoyable, sitting around the fire with your beers/marshmallows.. we had a blast.
Highly recommend this site, especially for kids!!

We stayed here for 5 lovely nights, the owners Owen and Barbara were really decent hard working people who keep this site immaculate, the place is a credit to their efforts. It rained hard during the first part of our stay and the pitches got very wet but Owen took care of it the next morning and we had no issues. The location is excellent for exploring all the bearna peninsula and has so much to offer, the campsite is relaxing and inviting and we definitely be returning.

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of June beginning of July 2020 as a brief escape after the easing of the Covid restrictions. We stayed in our campervan with our 2 sons aged 13 & 15. Friends of ours stayed aswell in their tent. Owen & Barbara the owners have developed a gem of a site which is super clean and really well maintained.

We had booked by email and when we arrived we were welcomed with no fuss nor faffing around by Owen who checked us in in minutes and gave us a smashing pitch in the corner. Barbara and Owen clearly take real pride in their site and you get the feeling that it's more than just a business to them.

It's ideally located for exploring the Beara peninsula by bike or hiking. We were able to launch our kayaks across the road and paddle out to sea the seals and explore the sheltered and safe bay in Adrigole. We were also able to go swimming from the pier at high tide. It's about 100m from the campsite. It's also ideally situated at the foot of the Healy Pass which I cycled.

Although there is no shop on site, Peg's shop is 100m up the road and has all the essentials including table and chairs outside where you can sit and enjoy the coffee you just bought.

We had a great few days being active during the day and relaxing in the evening. All the kids enjoyed it as we spent time kayaking, cycling, hiking etc.

If you don't have bikes then I think you can hire them at the site as I saw a sign. You can also rent kayaks about 3km down the road and kayak to see the seals.

If you're looking for a campsite full of amenities such as swimming pools, massive playgrounds, a bar etc then this is not the site for you. However, if you're active and enjoy well presented low key and relaxing then look no further. There's also a lodge on site with rooms for rent which I may come back to pretty soon. There's a little log cabin available too.

One note of caution - the road outside the campsite is a bit dangerous so caution advised with very young kids.

A little gem on the Wild Atlantic Way.

A wonderful campsite , we stayed here in a motorhome during Storm Francis and the owner was very helpful . Spotlessly clean and plenty of hot water . There is a small local shop about 200 m away . Looking forward to a return visit. A great location to explore the Beara Penisula.

We are just home from a 3 week stay at Hungry Hill Campsite. We normally holiday on campsites in France or the UK and the best compliment I can pay is that Hungry Hill is up there with the best of the French sites, but with the added bonus of onsite very friendly, attentive and hard working owners, Owen and Barbara. They ensured a very well run and safe environment with great facilities. No problem was too much for them to help with. Peg’s shop 100m away was also an excellent resource for all the supplies you’d need. In the heart of beautiful cycling and hiking country. Really sorry to have to leave here after 21 days! We’ll be back. Rúaidhrí and Mary

Camped here recently over a weekend. Campsite is very basic and was very busy on the weekend we visited. It was situated on a main road which was quite busy, with cars speeding by all night. Was dangerous for walking on. Toilets were clean. Showers were clean but cold. Kitchen contained a fridge and kettle. Microwave and socket required coins to use. Nothing else in the kitchen. Owner was not friendly.

Beara peninsula is beautiful but felt it was a pity to be staying on the side of a busy road.

We stayed here for a week with our 2 daughters in July. We arrived after a fabulous drive through some stunning scenery and were not disappointed. The campsite is small and quiet and a perfect base for exploring the beautiful Beara peninsula. Owen and Barbara are on site and happy to help if needed. I saw Owen loan camping equipment to 2 families who had forgotten things. There were only 2 showers/toilets in the ladies and gents but we never had to wait to use them and they were clean. Plenty of sanitising equipment available for Covid guidelines. There was a little traffic noise as the site is on a road side but this didn't bother us.

Stayed recently for 3 nights. Great location. Campsite is spotlessly clean and well laid out. Owners couldn't be more helpful with great knowledge of surrounding areas. Lovely place. Will definitely return.

I stayed in the site one night on 16/08/22, had an infant with me but there was no mention of infant rates in the website nor mentioned to me. Paid what ever they had asked me to pay in advance knowing that it is non refundable. The owner was very rude and abusive just because i had not paid for the infant. I would have paid if he mentioned politely about it.Kids had literally dropped a piece of wipes on the grass by mistake and same thing again. It is not like we had packed up and disappeared leaving all the rubbish.Horrible Horrible experience. We even thought it was a very much racist experience too. Will never ever recommend it to anyone looking to camp as a couple or family. Just avoid it. Lots if other nice camping sites in the area

Dear Siju, You made an online reservation for a campervan with 2 adults. At time of booking, you had to enter the number of people: children (0-12 years) and adults (12+ years), but only 2 adults were mentioned. After making the online booking you received a booking confirmation from us which included our payment and booking conditions. One of the conditions is: no extra people, cars, tents or gazebos are allowed unless pre-booked. We remember you arrived quite late at our campsite and that you already parked your motorhome at the front gate on an available pitch. At check-in you kindly mentioned there were an extra 2 adults and 2 children for which you paid. The following day, we noticed that you also had a baby and pitched a tent next to the motorhome. We didn't ask any money for it, but we did advise you to check with other campsites if that's allowed since every campsite has its own rates for extra people, tents etc. Please note that it never was our intention to upset you in any way, we just wanted to give you advise to avoid any confusion on other campsites you might visit after us. And yes, we did ask you to please clean up the pitch because we saw some baby wipes on the grass. No abusive or racist words/actions were used in any way whatsoever. Thank you for your recent stay and we wish you all the best. Kind regards, Daniel & Jamie
