The Moorings lies alongside the Caledonian Canal at the famous Neptune's Staircase. One of Fort William's finest establishments, The Moorings offers excellent cuisine and service. With splendid panoramic views of Ben Nevis and Aonach Mor, Moorings Hotel offers comfort and modern facilities. Here, you will receive a warm Highland welcome from friendly staff. The Moorings offers award-winning cuisine in Neptune's Restaurant, using fine Scottish produce, including west coast seafood and Highland game. Bar meals are available in the less formal Upper Deck Lounge Bar, where a range of malt whiskies may be sampled. In the summer, the Mariners Cellar Bar features a nautical theme. The refurbished bedrooms have every modern luxury. The Moorings is an excellent base for touring the romantic West Highlands. We offer all of our guests a complimentary round of golf at Fort William Golf Course and free use of our Fitness Suite.

My family and i were staying in the area, after a long walk down the canal i called in to the moorings for a beer !!! was made very welcome by the genuinely friendly and efficient staff, they were obviously very busy but remained hospitable and pleasant, we called again the following night and dined in the restaurant, the food was very nice and once again the staff were lovely, (we also bought one of their pictures that they have on the wall, fantastic) all in all a really nice end to our holiday in Scotland, wish we had found the Moorings earlier !!!

No reception staff available in this tired looking hotel Dining room was closed other than for breakfast which to be fair was of a good standard. The bistro was reminiscent of a transport cafe with a extremely limited menu and the food was extremely average when it finally arrived. We only ate there the once and found alternatives for the other 3 nights. We had to search for staff when we required anything for our room including toilet paper as no one answered the phone. Our room was £300 per night and the bathroom was tired and there was no cover on the light above the mirror so the bulbs and wiring was exposed. This was one of four hotels we stayed at during our visit to the Lakes, Scotland and Cheshire and they should be truly ashamed of the prices they charge for the amenities and service they offer.

Called into the Moorings cafe at the side of the Neptune’s Staircase after a walk, signed in as signs requested to Test and Trace Scotland, made ourselves aware to waitress and sat down, 20 minutes later no menus or order taken then another two tables arrived and were seated then orders taken for drinks and served. when inquired with two tables either side of us as to wether they had they had ordered ? They both advised they hadn’t even seen menus, we left as just not good enough organisation of service to randomly ignore any priority of customers so blatantly, shame really as it is in a lovely location.
