The Ranch is a great addition to a stay in Oaxaca at Casa Muguia. With the same owner very much hands-on at the Ranch. Attractively and comfortably furnished, the Ranch offers rooms with breakfast and dinner. Lunch can be provided and the cook is excellent. Horseback riding down trips to the surrounding villages, as well as to Hierve el Agua,...

I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at Rancho Pitaya. A visit to Oaxaca is not really complete without experiencing rural life and nature. With the ranch just 30 minutes from the centre of Oaxaca it is easy to do a combined stay as you did. Thanks again and hasta la pròxima.

I returned to Rancho Pitaya for my 5th visit this month. As always the food was superb: fresh, organic, tasty, nutritious and satisfying. The horses were fabulous. We took an overnight tide( 3 days and 2 nights) into the mountains. We stayed at Eco lodges, comfortable and clean, in pristine surroundings. The scenery was brilliant:, agave, pine, manzanita, madrone and...

It is immensely satisfying to host return guests. And sharing the trails with fine riders, like yourself, make my job a gift from the gods. Thank you, one more time, for choosing Rancho Pitaya for your Oaxaca getaway.

Me, my wife, 5 yr old daughter and 8 month old son spent a week in Oaxaca with Mary Jane in casa murguia for four nights and their bed & breakfast, rancho pitaya for three nights. We had a fantastic time at both places. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. One very positive and notable thing at both locations...

I'm so glad that both places worked out for you. I travelled with my son when he was young and try to recreate the casual but quality experience that I so appreciated in accommodation twenty years ago…. Gabriel is twenty-three now yikes how did that happen? Since you were here the plumbing has been completed checked and sure enough a...

We enjoyed our week's stay at Rancho Pitaya. Rooms are comfortable and Gina is an amazing cook - we loved our breakfasts on the sunny terrace and delicious meals in the evenings, surrounded by cactus trees and bushes. The horses are well cared for and loved and Mary-Jane (and husband Bobby) are clearly very knowledgeable about all things to do...

Thank you for taking the time to let me know about your experience. You have a lovely family but it was a challenge to give a group experience that could be safe and enjoyable for everyone. You expressed concern in our email exchanges that your youngest daughter, who had not wanted to ride at the previous stable/school, was too little...

I spent a week at Rancho Pitaya and loved it. Friends who saw my Facebook photos were drooling. The day starts with breakfast on the terrace, fruit, yogurt, delicious breads, fresh eggs and local coffee or Oaxacan hot chocolate. Then it's time to ride. The horses are in superb condition, happy to be under saddle and enthusiastic. The riding terrain...

It's especially satisfying ( and reassuring ) when guests return. I try to run Rancho Pitaya the way I like to live: casual, unpretentious quality. I'm glad to know that you find the traditional, sustainable agriculture as interesting as I do ! Looking forward to riding with you in November when there's still an abundance of fall wild flowers.

I scheduled the full day ride, but ended up staying for 3 nights! The location of the ranch is breathtakingly beautiful. I arrived in the morning for the ride, and got to tour the landscape with my guide Jayson for most of the day. Jayson was informative, attentive and personable. Following the ride, I had an amazing meal, during which...

Our recent three and a half day riding vacation could not have been better. Mary Jane and Bobby have a wonderful knowledge of horses and the valley of Oaxaca. From farmland to hilltop, the agriculture, flora, history and archeology were fascinating and well explained by these two well informed hosts. The friendly atmosphere, accommodation and food at Rancho Pitaya were...

It is always especially satisfying to have guests return and find the Valley of Tlacolula as beautiful and interesting as we do. Late fall and winter weather almost guarantees riders blue skies and a cool breeze off of the Sierra Juarez. Our new cook Gina is doing a fantastic job with traditional Oaxaca cuisine. Thanks for taking the time to...

We´re so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time at the ranch and the riding. I thought you'd like to see and sample the local authentic, traditional cooking. The farming in and around Rojas de Cuauhtemoc is some of the best sustainable agriculture you'll see anywhere in Oaxaca. Come back and stay, ride and cook at Rancho Pitaya.

The riding portion of our trip was very good, Mary Jane is an excellent rider and horse handler and I felt completely confident in her skills and guidance, especially with our three children.
