This place really lives up to all the reviews and more - the setting is just so peaceful and the views just add to the experience Helen and Sean were available for any advice but to be honest while they live on the site they are not at all intrusive The yurts really are a fantastic experience and the attention to detail really is tremendous I loved having to charge the phone in the kitchen (yes the owners have even provided locked cupboards for each of the yurts to charge your devices) meant putting the phone away and just taking in the experience Will definitely be back and would highly highly recommend anyone to visit and not come away feeling the same about the place

Absolutely fabulous night. The yurts are discretely located around the site, so quiet with great views across Loch Swilly. The bed is better than we have at home with crisp pure white linen, and extra blankets to keep warm. The log burner heats up the yurt really quickly. Helen and Sean are great hosts, with fresh vegetable from their amazing garden to cook with. Showers and kitchen immaculate. Thoroughly recommended

Even better than we expected! Obviously, the yurt was fantastic, but so too were the kitchen, dining and bathroom facilities. Beautiful views from the outside fire pit and from the yurt door. Hosts very mindful of your privacy. So peaceful !

A large group of us stayed here at the end of May 2022 and couldn't fault the place. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Having booked the original trip for May 2020, they we're very reasonable in rearranging the booking twice due to Covid-19 and we're very glad we all finally got to go and enjoy it. The yurts are beautifully finished, each with their own stove and amazing views of Donegal. They are well enough spread out that they are private and have outdoor seats, a hammock and an outdoor fire pit. The communal room is excellent and the toilet and shower facilities are very clean and convenient. The beds are extremely comfortable, the fires were all pre-set and the site itself is really well maintained and cared for. There is a beautiful old country farm-house on the site and a small but very well stocked vegetable garden which was lovely to stroll around. The site itself is well situated overlooking Portsalon and within driving distance to some of Donegal's most beautiful scenery spots! I can't wait to go back here again in the not too distant future, it's peaceful, relaxing and luxurious! Just what glamping should be.

Wow! What a beautiful place! We stayed in the Mulroy Yurt on May 29th. Gorgeous views from the yurt , and close to the shower/toilet block. The kitchen is nearby and very well equipped , and everything is spotlessly clean. The hosts were very nice, very helpful and we are already planning to return ASAP.

A must stay during your trip to Donegal. The beds were so comfortable, the views were beautiful and the attention to detail was amazing! Loved the extra touches like the white claw and the hammock. It was so clean and very covid compliant too. Sean was very friendly and gave us some recommendations about where best to swim Will be recommending to friends 😊

Amazingly scenic location with fantastic views. Helen was very friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed our stay. Bring an additional light or torch for inside the yurt at evening and night time. More than your phone torch is needed.

I’m guessing that many of the 5-star reviews for Portsalon Luxury Camping have come from serious campers, who will look on this place as a welcome respite from the chores of assembling and disassembling tents, inflating and deflating airbeds, sharing toilet blocks, etc, etc. Here your yurt is all ready for you, complete with a proper bed plus kitchen facilities and your own toilet and shower facilities. On top of that, there’s the incredible view of the ocean on your doorstep, and pleasant owners who seem to genuinely enjoy hosting visitors. However. If, like me, you aren’t a seasoned camper and you’re staying here because of its proximity to Portsalon Beach and other tourist sites in County Donegal, you might question what you’re getting for your €100. And I’m not talking about the lack of electricity in the yurt, or the fact that the toilets and kitchen are a four-minute walk away—neither of these were deal breakers for me at all. But for €100 you don’t even get a complimentary two-pack of biscuits in your yurt? Or a torch to get you from the yurt to the toilets in the dead of night? Or any kind of toiletries in your shower, even bar soap, even TOWELS? And every extra that IS offered, like charcoal or peat/wood for your woodburner, comes at an additional cost. It wasn’t a bad experience staying here. But I guess I slightly question whether it was a luxury experience.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our site here on TripAdvisor. We are pleased to hear that you found us pleasant and the views incredible. We were obviously a little bit disappointed to read your criticisms and receive a three star rating - of course, we are very proud of our usual five star rating and work extremely hard to meet the needs and expectations of our guests. You are absolutely correct that it is a matter of perspective. We try to appeal to visitors who really want to enjoy the outdoors camping experience with the added luxuries that we can offer. We try to describe our site in accurate and honest terms so that guests have a good idea of what we offer before they get here. As you say, you chose our site for location rather than for our type of accommodation and it sounds rather like you would be a bit more at home in a hotel. We are working hard to ensure that everything we do is as environmentally friendly as possible - thus the kind of complimentary extras that we offer are flowers from our garden, filtered spring water, hot water bottles, hand sanitiser, fresh eggs from our rescued free range chickens, book swap library. We very happily offer use of torches etc too if we are asked (COVID-19 guidelines required us to remove as many shared use items as possible which is why torches are not currently in all yurts). Our bathrooms have paper towels for hand washing but we ask guests to bring along their own towels and toiletries - quite standard practice at all camping/glamping sites - but OF COURSE we would have provided towels/soap for you if you had not come prepared - you didn't mention that you needed them. We always ask whether everything is ok and if you need anything to let us know - I recall asking you specifically when i had a chat with you both and you certainly didn't indicate any dissatisfaction at all. Our pricing really is quite competitive for our sector and we try to offer value for money - we are sorry that in this instance we didn't meet your expectations. With our very best wishes Helen and Sean

Portsalon luxury camping was the most amazing place. We stayed in the Ballymastocker yurt and the views were incredible. The facilities were so clean and were better than some hotels I’ve stayed in! Sean and Helen were so welcoming when we bumped into them on site..would 100% recommend and will definitely go back. Niamh

We stayed with Portsalon Luxury Camping at the end of July as part of our 12 day staycation around Ireland. It definitely stands out as one of the highlights of our trip. We stayed in the Mulroy Yurt which was really big and provided more than enough space for us and all our luggage. Most of the time that we were there it was raining but this didn’t ‘dampen’ the spirits at all. The Yurt was completely waterproof and was actually quite nice to listen to the rain outside while cosy inside with the stove. The yurt itself was really clean and comfortable and we had plugs which was very convenient for a ‘camping’ experience - most certainly a luxury for the camping world! The toilet block was extremely clean and it was brilliant to have an area to ourselves, especially with Covid - it was about a 15 second walk from our Yurt which was fantastic - again a luxury for camping! The views from our area were beautiful as was the location, lovely wild flowers growing with some hens around too. While there were others staying in the other yurts we didn’t see anyone and found it all very private and safe. We didn’t use the communal kitchen as we ate from the local golf club and other places in the area while staying. Over all I would really recommend the Yurts- definitely Mulroy is worth the extra money for the proximity to the toilet block and plugs.
