This resort is about 10km from the town of Chiang Khan. The road is winding, unlit in parts and very quiet with no houses or shops. The resort itself is minimalist in every sense of the word and is one of those places which try to say "we give you a 'relaxing experience' - which is jargon for "there's nothing here" and extends to the rooms which were sparsely furnished and decorated in bare (polished) concrete, both inside and outside, on the walls and the floor. I felt like I was sleeping in someones garage. With full width windows at each end of the room, the curtains by the entrance door had to remain closed as everyone who walks past the room (on the only footpath) peers into your room. The location is set back about 20m from the river bank with views across to Laos on the other side, however there is nothing to see just trees and shrubbery - no life whatsoever, apart from the odd fishing boat going up and down the river. Unfortunately on the road behind the resort, there was plenty going on, with double-trailer trucks from the nearby quarry thundering past the resort 24 hours a day. There is no shop, or restaurant or anything on-site or even close by and the minibar contained only soft drinks so you would be advised to bring supplies and / or alcohol if you want to sit on the balcony at night watching the emptiness opposite. Breakfast was below standard for a hotel and price of this level. They seemed very unprepared for anyone other than Thai guests with rice congee available. The 'western' offering was a set prepared plate of fried rice, fried eggs and salad, with some truly awful ham slices on the side. Coffee was either 3-in-1 packets or make your own instant coffee from a jar, however there was no milk or coffee mate and after asking for some, I was offered a sickly thick liquid milk sauce in a tube which was most unpleasant. I was fortunate to be staying only 1 night, otherwise I think I might have looked for alternative accommodation. The good point about the room is that it was spotlessly clean especially the bathroom, but it should be as its only around a year old. The cleanest garage I have ever stayed in.…
I chose this hotel since I prefer staying in spacious and clean room with good views of Mekong River. The owner selected the good quality of beddings and toiletries. Their beddings are the same quality of four or five stars hotel. Pillow covers and towels are new and clean so I really enjoyed my stay with the million dollar view. The price is reasonable. Cons- inconvenience for tourists who do not have the cars since it is quite far from the city centre No breakfast but you may buy things and use microwave in their kitchen. However, the reception and their staff are helpful.
1st stay > Room # B12 - Not the last time we would stay. Pro's > Mekong River views \ Tranquility \ Relaxation \ Staff \ New Hotel \ Room Sytle Con's > No Bathroom Amenities ( Ear sticks, Soap Tablets, Toothbrush, Shower Cap etc ) \ Traffic Noise ( especially Double length Lorries ) \ Breakfast It is a lovely new hotel ( opened in 2018 ) built on the shore of the Mekong river. It is absolutely peaceful setting..... Untill the Double Length Lorry's THUNDER past. Not mentioned in any previous reviews is the fact that a Sand Dredging operation is NEXT DOOR. Lorry's ( Sunday night ) Thundered by 24 hours a day ( yes all overnight ) This spoilt our relaxing stay here - apart from that it would have been perfect. The rooms are appointed very well with everything in working order - The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was interesting - No Thai food, only a choice of Sausage, Fried Eggs, Cheap Fatty Ham and lovely tasty Salad. We bought Dinner ( Food and Alcohol ) at Big C Market in Chiang Khan and enjoyed this on the rooms balcony whilst watching the Fishermen on the Mekong = Perfect. We would come back again - but bring Ear Plugs to stop the Traffic noise....!!!…
