Whilst trekking the Queen Charlotte track we spent two nights at Pungs ( Forneaux Lodge was closed) we used the water taxi to get here. Our rooms were perfect, plenty of towels in the bathroom. We had to go in search of milk for our tea both days. Not a mean feet after a big days trek as Punga has...

On the first day on arriving Punga Cove, Heather who is resort manager cum restaurant manager cum many other roles, received us personally at the Jetty, give us a good briefing and brought us to our chalet. Wouldn't even give one star, if not a must. Here is why: My partner and I went there in May 2015, because it was during off-season we were the only guests residing at Punga Cove Resort. However, we got treated like they had a full house...room was not prepared (heated), no introduction about the facility and places, no staff around...

I would read this review along with my review of Furneaux Lodge, both properties are owned by the same entity and I think the issue is the same in both properties, great location, great staff but under investment in the properties makes it difficult, in our opinion to justify the process charged.

Dear Opinion-noted, We appreciate your kind comments on our great location and fantastic staff, which we wholeheartedly agree with. Updating our accommodation is an ongoing and carefully considered process, with some extra challenges thrown in such as the sea air and our remote location! However, we are committed to constantly improving the Punga Cove experience and currently have an interior...

Our room, bed and the facilities were satisfactory. Staff on reception not overly helpful, no free wifi and a shame that the bar closes early in the "off season". Spa was free which was cool - but all other food was extremely expensive. Was an ok stay - but the most expensive of our trip.
