Absolutely brilliant menu and food at the Cottage in the wood. Service was exceptional! Wine and food were delicious! Incredibly good value too! Amazing meal! Will definitely return there on our next visit to the Lake District!

Stayed here for my birthday treat and what a wonderful place this is. From driving up the road to get here to entering the front door to a wonderful fire burning this place truly feels special. The rooms were tastefully decorated and cosy - great after a days walking and then there's the food.... our meal in the evening was...

Came here for a pre Christmas break and it was perfect! As soon as we got there we were welcomed by Kath - the friendliest most helpful lady you could ever wish to meet! Received a welcome tray of tea and flap jack next to the log burner which was much needed after a long drive! We stayed in the...

First things first. We had a 2 night stay here, and despite the Cottage in the Wood being fairly remote, albeit in a lovely area, we would have no hesitation whatsoever in returning, or recommending this hotel to anyone. Friendly, charming staff made our arrival and whole experience a pleasure. Our room, whilst not massive, was certainly welcoming, comfortable and...

Arriving at 'Cottage in the Wood' for the first time, we were a little disappointed not to see lots of festive decorations or a Christmas tree from the road; it was the 8th December, but hopefully this may have changed nearer Christmas. Once inside, we had a warm and friendly reception. The log burning stove was just being light and...

My boyfriend and I stayed in the garden room and woke up to the most amazing views. The room was cosy, the bathroom amazing with the best shower and they provided an extra heater to ensure we were warm enough. Made to feel welcome and at home, Kath recommended where to go to explore and printed the weather report and...

What can I say? The hotel, the room, the food but most importantly the staff were all impeccable. Made a very special weekend in our lives all the more special. Would love to go back in the future and I hope they bring back the taster menu too 😉 although the current menu certainly did not disappoint. Thanks again to...

We hadn't been to Keswick for years and so researched somewhere to stay via TA - and found the Cottage. We stayed for three nights, in the Oak room. This isn't enormous, but is very well decorated and equipped (inc twin/superking bed) and with wonderful view of Skiddaw. The Cottage does describe itself as a restaurant with rooms, but the...

My wife and I decided we need a break and found this hotel via Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Located as the name suggests on a hillside, in a woodland, it is a magical setting. We watched red squirrels playing in the garden and the bird life is incredible. Views between the trees down the valley and to the...
