My family and I stayed at Hostal Oloncito. Uwe, the owner, is such a kind host. We had a terrific time chatting with him. We were fascinated with the hostal and all the amenities. Everything was nice, clean and well kept. We could tell the love and attention Uwe has put into this place. Hostal Oloncito is very quite, beautiful...

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and eating pizza that he personally made for us. A lady I met knew him and we were able to have a lovely visit. I lived in Olón for about 5 months and have a big soft spot for this place. It's so quaint and quiet -- it really embodies the town...

Pros: The rooms at this hostel are basic and the outside bathroom is ok. The best thing about this hostel is the location, 5 minutes away from busy Montanita and a 1 minute walk from a great beach. The prices of this hostel are cheap compared to its compatitors and the German host is very kind and helpfull. Cons: Our...

Dear Thank you for your comments and feedback, I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us here at the Hostal Oloncito. Also to let you know that I read your comments regarding the doorbell and can appreciate your dismay, but perhaps I can explain. The doorbell that we have installed here at the Hostal Oloncito acts...

Like the whole of Olon, this place was extremely quiet when we were there. I think we were the only guests at the time for most of our stay. Uwe is clearly still working on doing up the place and after a day or so of polite nods and not much conversation, he warmed to us and we had some...

We were only able to stay for two nights but it was well worth the experience. Uwe [the owner] is tinkering with his Hostel and loving every minute of it - artistic touches abound. The property in Olon is clean, comfortable, welcoming and a great quiet beach location [as compared with neighboring Montanita which ihas very different vibe!] We asked...

A fantastic hostel! The hostel itself is beautiful with artwork and gardens that add a lovely touch to the tranquil atmosphere. The rooms are clean, mattresses comfortable and extra fans keep them well ventilated. The staff is on top of the housework and bathrooms and rooms were cleaned daily. And the owner is such a friendly and easy going gentleman...

We stayed a week and really liked it. Located in quiet street, 100 m to the beach. Beautiful sunsets. Close to supermarkets. Kitchen available or meals on request possible. Clean rooms and well furnitured. Bathroom is nice with hot water. Beautiful garden with hammocks, sand, fountain and more. Lots of shade. Friendly German owner has lots of tips, info and...

I spent my last week in Ecuador at this beautiful hostel. The german owner is very friendly, funny and has a lot of know how about Ecuador. He gave me really good advises about places to visit or to avoid. The rooms are clean, spacy and really cozy. Thanks for the nice days. Cheers Andi

It's true that the owner (a German expat named Uwe) speaks only Spanish and German, but there is often someone around here who speaks some English. Other than that, I don't see why anyone would have problems with this place. Oloncito is a fantastically charming, relaxing, and friendly hostal right by the beach for a very affordable price. I've checked...

We stayed over thirteen days a double room with private special bathroom at Hostel Oloncito. Good internet connections and a very nice hot and powerful shower. The beach is quiet, clean, lonely and unspoiled by properties and not commercial. The Oloncito beach has many palms, lawn and is very far from the village and there are not people. The restaurant...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The whole property is sorounded by a beautiful tropical garden and lots of decor like masks, sculptures and many ligths. There is a place with 4 hammocks to hang around under a lovely bamboo construction. The house was built by the owner Uwe and some locals. They created a nice looking hostel consisting bamboo, wood and stones. They also made a lounge to hang around or even to work with your Laptop. We have a common kitchen and enough space to eat with 20 people on a big table. We offer free coffee and cool water. In the morning you can enjoy fresh bread for free. ... more   less

“Upstairs rooms have more breeze, more view, and a nice veranda lounge with sofas. The room on the end upstairs has a bigger bathroom and better views. But the downstairs rooms are fine too, and they are more shaded.”
