I highly rate this place, its basic in the main building area but the staff were great the views are magnificent and the food was recent considering, I would love to stay here and ski! I do recommend this place for what it is but those views are breathtaking

Thank you for writing. We are an old building, built in 1951 so it's character is of that time which is becoming pretty rare in the beautiful places of NZ. I'm so glad that you appreciated the gorgeous staff that we have, we love them and yes, we are very proud of the food that we serve here. We hope...

We stayed as part of a group at the weekend, The accommodation is reasonably basic , but is clean. The units could do with a fridge and ironing facilities in them, the beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable! The meal in the evening was great, if you had the beef was great, but the pork option was extremely overcooked and...

Thank you for writing. We have 4 standards of accommodation and unfortunately, your group had requested our more spacious Temple wing rooms with the lovely views but this was not available. You stayed in the Maitland wing which is one of our basic wings - but priced accordingly with a 3 course dinner, accommodation and a cooked breakfast for $111...

This was a highlight of our bike trail experience. Great accommodation in Huxley wing, wonderful evening meal, fantastic breakfast and superb service. What a setting - whether it was soaking in the hot tubs, sitting on the deck with a drink or dining we had this awesome view of Lake Ohau and Mt Cook as the sun was setting. A...

Stayed as part of a bus tour. We had a dorm/lodge type area with our rooms. Bed was hard but sufficed. Heater under carpet was great. Bathroom clean. Dinner and bar was good. Amazing views from verandah. Very isolated so bring supplies.

Thank you for your review. I hope that the Lodge rooms compared favourably with other hotel rooms that you stayed in on your tour. Often tour companies choose Lake Ohau Lodge because of its difference. The fact that it is isolated is a draw card and I'm not sure if you need to bring supplies as we have everything here.

The hotel is kind of isolated and far from town. But the view is beautiful with lake Ohau and the mountains. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. While we stayed for one night, there were also the other big tour staying there too so when we had dinner in the common room, they were a little loud. The room is...

Thank you for your review. We are seemingly isolated but it is only 1/2 hrs drive to the nearest town. When you get to Lake Ohau though you see very little sign of other habitation, just one big glorious lake surrounded by hills and mountains. Certainly it can be busy in the restaurant which will mean everyone enjoying themselves and...

What an amazing place to visit our son who has worked on the snow field at Ohau for 2 winters. Louise & Mike are fantastic hosts; hard working people who know how to run a friendly lodge with incredible views. Many more features include a spa & views of the night sky. The bar was well stocked, restaurant 3- course...

Well, of course I know who you are and it was lovely to meet you both and for you to see where your son has been working. How fabulous that you managed to enjoy all of those outdoor activities which are normally either winter or summer, skiing or walking but you did them all! The Mackenzie Country is a stunning...

I have been to Lake Ohau Lodge three times. Once on a school trip nearly 50 years ago, once on a ski weekend about 25 years ago, and once for dinner three weeks ago. It hasn't changed much! The accommodation prices range from budget to mid-price, the setting is outstanding, and the food is delicious. They have a table d'hôte...

We try not to change things! The old school look of Lake Ohau Lodge is part of it's charm. People compare it to their favourite bach that they keep on returning to and so nothing should change too much! I'm so glad that you enjoyed your meal and of course this view from the Lodge is the best view in...

This lodge should be marketed as an essential part of the Alps to Ocean Cycleway experience. From the cheerful young lady who made us feel very welcome, despite our rather early arrival, the clean, comfortable room, the interesting guests we were paired with at dinnertime and the relaxing atmosphere - this is REAL hosting. The dinner, bed and breakfast package...

Thank you to you too! Ohau we love our Alps2Ocean cycle trail guests! Everyone is so enthusiastic about the trail, what a perfect way to enjoy the Mackenzie Country and Waitaki Valley. It has added a new dimension to our business that is for sure and we are just so chuffed that everyone loves the Lodge.

We had such a fantastic holiday! Highly recommend. Amazing 5 star three course dinner, continental and cooked breakfasts, seperate dinner seating for our 5 year old who thought it was FANTASTIC eating with "new friends" hot spa after a day on the mountains. Thanks for writing Ange. We came here 27 years ago with our kids and that was what hooked us, that our kids were looked after so we've always made sure that we try and do that well.
