but at my husbands suggestion we decided to have a couple of nights in this 'luxury' camp. For me there was nothing luxurious about it but I guess to the average camper it offered much more than they are used to, electric blankets, room service coffee first thing in the morning and a tasty meal prepared for them and served...

Thank you so very much for your review - we are always delighted to hear from our guests. We plan on inviting the weatherman to the flowers next year - hopefully he can get his predictions right - sunshine during the day, starry skies at night! We appreciate your kind compliments and constructive feedback - thank you. May we wish...

This was our first experience of the wild flowers and the tented camps were a delightful experience. We stayed at both Skilpad and the Beach Camps - each is lovely in its own way. We thought the tents were better furnished at the Beach Camp and the food was a bit better too - and this I think is reflected...

The camp at Skilpad was an excellent place to see the flowers in Namaqualand in the South African spring. The camp is comfortable and well set up. (Electric blankets!) Note it is camping, and as always camping may not be to everyone's taste. Don't expect the same bathroom delights as in an hotel. But the food and drink in the...

Great concept! Social area great, and food very good. Strangely no sparkling water. There was a storm when we were there and team very unprepared and even turned the generator off at 11 pm! Tents were not checked properly and leaked. Inadequate blankets, old, tired pillows and a mattress that had seen better days a long time ago. Tent servive...

Well appointed smallish tents with two single beds, lovely blankets and electric blanket for cold nights, complete with hair dryers (needed a two prong adapter for these though). Tents not totally en-suite though- if it rains one may get a little soaked... Shower water nice and hot but the shower is a little cramped if you are a large person😳...

This was a wonderful experience. We stayed for 4 nights with our kids. Each tent has two very comfortable beds, electric blankets, power, every a small hairdryer ... luxuries that you would not expect when camping. The food was fantastic - ranging from sirloin cooked to perfection (this was amazing given the facilities and the number of people to be...

We spent 2 nights at Beach Camp and 1 night at Skilpad Camp and left wanting more. It is worth staying at both camps, but next time I would stay at Skilpad Flower Camp first and then on to Beach Flower Camp for the relaxation of being on the sea. We would go again.

We enjoyed this experience a lot. We stayed for 3 nights in this luxury camp. This is not to be confused with a luxury tented camp as one would find at some 5 star lodges. This is REAL camping with a touch of luxury. You will stay in a carpeted dome tent, right by the sea, with twin beds fitted...

Tempted by waking up in the flowers (!) I booked this, and my poor husband thought I had finally lost my last remaining marbles! It is a unique and wonderful experience. The staff are warm and friendly, and I doubt anything would be too much trouble. I haven't slept under canvas for many a long year, but the (single) beds...

This really was a wonderful experience. The tents are right by the sea and you are surrounded by beautiful flowers. It is important to remember that although this is luxury camping it is still camping. That means you have hot water to shower but only at certain times. You have a toilet but it is a portable loo and therefor...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Namaqua Flower Skilpad Camp : 5 August to 18 September 2016 Take your time to explore the flowers and experience the luxury and convenience of an elegant private mobile tented camp, right in the flowers, under skies that seem to stretch as far as the eye can see. Flowers by day and stars by night, a visit to the Namaqua Flower Skilpad Camp in the Skilpad Nature Reserve, 30km from Kammieskroon, the closest town, is an unforgettable experience. With its winter rainfall, Namaqualand is home to the richest bulb flora of any arid region in the world and more than a 1 000 of its estimated 3 500 plant species are found nowhere else on earth. Namaqua Flower Beach Camp: 12 August to 18 September 2016 Every year nature performs a miracle in the Northern Cape, sprinkling confetti as far as the eye can see. Nature's confetti. The seasonal winter rains trigger one of the most spectacular floral kingdoms, a truly breathtakingly beautiful phenomenon, which is quite possibly unlike anything you have experienced before. Succumb to an oasis for rest and relaxation at the Namaqua Flower Beach Camp located one kilometer north of the Groenrivier entrance to the National Park, right on the ocean. An extraordinarily memorable occasion. ... more   less
