From the moment you arrive you are in paradise. Florian and Nancy are terrific managers and know how to organize everything. The accomodations is more than well and the food is delicious and very divers. The crew at the dive centre as well as the restaurant and the rest are very kind and always willing to help you. We have had a very pleasant stay. We can recommand it if you want to have a nice and relaxed holliday.
Our initial arrangment to stay one week only we soon extent our holiday for more one week. The dives are first class, the food at the morning and evening absolute delicious, the service okey and the rooms in best conditions, nothing to reclaim at all. A real paradies for (experienced) scuba divers with NITROX diving.
I`m just back from an amazing dive trip to Nabucco Island Resort in East Kalimantan, Borneo. I am a far travelled diver and have to say that this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Nabucco is a small Resort with only 18 rooms, on a tiny little Island and surrounded by bright white sand and turquoise waters. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly and the staff were very attentive. The over water room was beautiful and meet all requests. The veranda offered some spec. views on the lagoon, Maratua Island and also had a lot of fish under water life even seen sitting on the veranda. The diving was very well run, and the groups very small. Our guide Andris was super knowledgeable and took good care about us! Also the boat crews were brilliant. good drops and immy.pick up. Even though I personally did not use the rental gear, but a couple of my dive group did. The rental gear seemed to be in excellent condition. The diving was superb. I saw different kind of reef sharks, plenty turtles on every dive, tuna, schools of trevally, a giant barracuda school, mantas, frog fish, pygmy sea horses, ghost pipe fish, 21 different kind of nudiranches … you name it!!! Water temperature was 28 to 29 degrees. All in all it was an outstanding stay at Nabucco Island Resort, and I recommend it HIGHLY! Don’t expect luxury rooms and fancy decoration. Do expect exceptional reef diving, great staff and a simple, cozy and lovely dive resort with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.…
We stayed at Nabucco Island for 7 days. It is a Paradise! Apart from the breathtaking views, the staff of the island is heartwarming and did everything to make our stay perfect. The diving was great as well; since our kids were diving for the second time only, they received a lot of personal attention and support in refreshing their skills and knowledge. We have seen lots of beautiful coral and fishes and even a small shark while snorkeling. The restaurant serves very healthy and fresh menus to choose from every day. Our cabins with ocean view and private beach (!) were clean and spacious and offer a lot of privacy to relax. Thanks Nabucco team!
It is hard to imagine anywhere more beautiful on the planet than Nabucco Island Resort. The facilities are excellent all around - rooms are very comfortable and the food was delicious and always more than enough. Our dive guide was Andris and he was superb. The manager Florian was very attentive to all our needs and all the staff were really lovely. The restaurant and bar are located over the water with fantastic views, and are great for hanging out in. Diving was awesome, but be warned there are a few dive sites with strong currents requiring reef hooks (supplied). We were a group of 3 adults and 3 kids and everyone had a great time. The 9 yr-old got her first try at SCUBA (Bubblemaker) with Florian and it went really well. If night sky photography is your thing, the jetty is a good place for it - Florian can turn off the lights for you. We will be coming back again for sure.…
Nabucco is a small but a great island for diving holidays. A great place to dive and relax. We had a double cottage, bit as there weren‘t many guest we had it all to ourselves. The standard room are small, but nice and clean. The divecenter is SSI approved and we took specialty divecourses with Florian, the diveinstructor and new manager. The dive spots are great. We saw some grey reef sharks and the extremly big group of baracudas, which was a wonderful experience. The bar and restaurant are nice spots and the food is really good. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Thanks to all of them and Florian for the great stay.
Thanks to the staff and manager for the nice stay! Food, people, diveschool, bungalows were fantastic. One of the most beautiful places i ever seen. Also the reuseable bottle system is nice the resort does anything to be enviromentelly friendly. We had a beach bungalow which was certaintly worth the money. Prices of the food and drinks are fair. Diving was awsome. I could not think of something negative. Keep up the good work!
I didn't stay here but booked a 10 dive package from Maratua Atoll. I was picked up and dropped off each morning and for me, this was perfect as I was also able to explore the mainland (though you can have this option if you stay in Nabucco too). + Spacious dive boats + Return back to island after each dive to refresh and relax + Professional staff members and guides + A range of diving options - I had no idea that I would be able to see hammerheads and need to use a reef hook! However, also much calmer dive sites + Stunning island Really recommend visiting this place where there are few divers and beautiful scenery
Spent a week there last November and would recommend it. The staff (both dive staff and support staff) are excellent. The food is good and the environment is unique. Truly a jungle island surrounded by shallows containing rays sea snakes and other sea life. You also share the island with large Monitor lizards, bats and other wildlife. It is a German run resort and unsurprisingly efficient and well run. Accommodation comprises wooden chalets on stilts. This is ok but some of the chalets are semi detached with no sound proofing so if you get up early you can get complaints off your neighbours so I would advise booking a detached chalet. There is only one flight a week to the local island and it went tech for our return journey so we had to get boats with no toilets for a three to four hour trip to the mainland and a different flight. I've done over 500 dives and Big Fish Country is one of the best. Negative decent, then down to about 28 meters to reef on edge of a wall. Fast current bringing sharks jacks and tuna. Then move a few metres and film the shoal of about 1000 barracuda. At one point there is so much wildlife you cannot choose where to point your camera. Phenomenal. Did it every day. What is also great is you can do 2 or 3 dives per day, back to shore after each dive, get some refreshments then back in. Great dive operation with great guides.…
From the moment you arrive Kathrin, Tarkan and the rest of the staff will do anything to ensure that their guests have a fantastic holiday. Unfortunately our baggage didn't arrive with us (due to a power failure at Schiphol a big part of the baggage didn't make it to the plane in time...). Kathrin and Tarkan tried their best to help us out with rental gear and some toiletries like shampoo. They also kept us well informed about the baggage whereabouts. At the end of the holiday I regrettably ended up with an ear infection, they provided me with some eardrops and medication. I was really thankful for that. Resort: First of all the rooms are great. Especially the new suites are very nice and spacious. The restaurant is very well organized and the food was fantastic. We booked full board which meant breakfast, a 3-course lunch and a 4-course dinner were included. A water refill is free if you have your own water bottle (otherwise you can buy one at the resort). You can see various kinds of animals and it is nice to walk around the island during low tide. Diving: The briefings before each dive are detailed and informative, you always know what to expect. Not just Big Fish Country but all the dive sites in the area are worthwhile visiting with loads of turtles, fish, colourful corals and some macro stuff. We really enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend this magnificent place.…
