We first stayed in Frys barn in 2018 with previous owners Ruth and Mike, thay made us feel so welcome and really couldn't do enough for us. We have always wanted too return for xmas but thay were always booked up. So we were delighted when it was free for xmas. We Emailed and become aware it had changed hands. It soon became clear that the new owners were not great at returning emails calls (communication) on arrival the owners were out but unbeknown too them we knew were we were going. The cottage was absolutely freezing carpet in large bedroom felt very damp. Bathrooms not clean so much hair in shower room plug..sofas smelt of dog..and we are dog owners. Cottage could do with a spring clean. Then we had a leak on informing the owners thay didn't seem in a hurry too fix the problem. In all honesty we just totally felt unwelcome and like we were squatting and thay couldn't wait for us too leave. Home farm is the perfect location in perfect surroundings. We are so disappointed and saddened too have too say we wouldn't return. We do hope that the owners take this on board and start too enjoy the life style. It isn't an easy Job thay have but if you make people welcome its half the battle.…
We stayed at the Fry's Barn Cottage which is ideally situated for walks, easy access to Cheddar and the Somerset Coast. The cottage has a basic, but good, kitchen and two bedrooms (one en suite). The farm grounds are great and if you are bringing a dog as they will have plenty of room to exercise. The larger of the two bedrooms has a damp/mould issue which needs to be fixed and this has been advised to the owners.
Stayed in the Bakehouse, it was perfect for our needs. Fantastic little cottage, clean and inviting. All you would need for a short or long stay. Good for exploring the local area, Weston, Cheddar, Brean, Burnham, Wells.. Etc..
We have just returned from an absolutely brilliant holiday staying in the Granary at Homefarm in Barton. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and keep the entire premises in an outstanding condition with everything thought of. We can’t recommend these cottages and location highly enough.
We absolutely loved our stay in Granary cottage ! It was spotless and fully equipped with all essentials for humans and dogs!! The grounds are awesome and my little dog loved wondering around ! We hope the rates will never change and the standards never drop because we would like to come back again and again and recommend it to all our friends!! Thank you!!
We have just left Scrumpy Cottage at Home Farm after a lovely week's holiday. This really is the best dog friendly cottage we have stayed in. A good location with fabulous views from the 2 acre secure fields. The cottage itself is fitted out with good quality furniture, kitchen appliances and bathroom with bath and over shower. Bed linen, mattress and towels are also excellent quality. Thoughtful touches like fresh flowers, homemade cakes and relaxing music playing on arrival plus dog blankets, towels, bowls and a tin of treats elevate Home Farm Cottages way above the norm. Mike and Ruth really go the extra mile to welcome guests and ensure they have a wonderful holiday. Honey had the best time too!
We had a wonderful week staying in the Hayloft cottage. Mike and his team have thought of everything to make your arrival and stay as pleasant as possible. He provides a great guide with details of local walks and we enjoyed being conveniently situated within easy reach of the seaside towns and Cheddar Gorge etc. The Hayloft has its own small garden area with seating so that you can enjoy the views across the valley.
This was a first class group of 5 holiday cottages with a choice of 1,2 or 3 bedrooms dependant on property. The Bakehouse is a one bed with a magnificent building wide brick fireplace at one end complete with wood burner and supplied with logs and kindling. The whole collection is very well maintained having had a first class conversion from the original farm buildings. The bedroom above the living area had a large and extremely comfortable bed with a high pitched roof supported by oak beams which did require the ocaisional knee bend to avoid hitting your head. The ensue shower is small but does the job while the kitchen is well done with everything you'd need. This is definitely a spot for walkers with routes from the farm straight up the Mendip Hills and dogs are allowed, even encouraged, in all but one of the cottages. There is plenty of parking on site including a useful electric vehicle charger. In summary a wonderful, welcoming and very thoughtfully run set of self-catering options with loads to do within an hours drive.…
We had a wonderful week staying in the 17th-century converted Bake House and we especially loved its amazing original fireplace and cosy, understated feel. It is clear that great care and attention to detail has gone into the feel and look of Home Farm cottages. There is a near-perfect balance between comfort and authenticity about the Bake House. We will be recommending Home Farm Cottages to friends and anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in this wonderful part of Somerset. They are set in a beautiful rural location with stunning views and easy access to country walks, as well as to pubs and pretty villages within a short drive.
Mike and Ruth have made these cottages so nice and comfortable, they have thought of everything to make your stay perfect . I have stayed in many holiday cottages but these accommodation rentals are by far the best. Love the area and dogs enjoyed the enclosed field will definitely be back and can’t recommend enough ,thanks mike and ruth
