Top rooms were rather expensive but V nice although basin v small and shower bit slippery. Nice complimentary drinks. Nice bar, but loose dogs need control. Excellent breakfast and great Butcombe beer + wine but evening meals lack imagination (who eats chicken thighs????) and steak very variable. Stayed several nights but went out to Star other nights to eat which was superior. Service was good but never saw same staff twice.
Stayed here after our flight home to Bristol. Excellent venue to find. Room was fabulous, staff outstanding and the food and ales were awesome. Menu had something for everyone and all looked delicious. Having found this location we will definitely be visiting again, perhaps for the odd weekend away. Superb venue.
Great location & lovely pub . The bedroom was beautifully furnished to a high standard with the nice touch of a couple of complimentary drinks. Breakfast was also to a very high standard with a wide choice. Can honestly say that this is one of the best pub / B&B’s that I have stayed at … well done to all the staff who helped make this a very comfortable stay !!
Booked this accommodation to break the journey between home and Cornwall - and wish we could have stopped for longer. The staff were all very helpful and showed us to our lovely king sized room. The room was beautifully decorated, clean and fresh. There was ground coffee for the cafetiere and a selection of tea bags including herbal ones. The king sized bed was very comfortable. We did have dinner at The Swan which was excellent. Hubby and 'small' fish which was plenty big enough for him and I had gammon with grilled fresh pineapple. Both meals were delicious. Breakfast was great too - eggs benedict - my favourite. If I need accommodation in that area again I shall certainly try to get in The Swan.
We booked 4 rooms as we were attending a wedding in the area and didn't expect much from a pub - how wrong we were. The rooms are classy and decorated to a very high standard with lots of nice touches. We had an evening meal and breakfast and were so impressed with the choice and standard of food. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. We will be returning very soon to explore the area.
Stopped at The Swan to break a long journey to Cornwall. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Our room was wonderful - fresh milk in the fridge for tea/coffee, caffertier and choice of teas all provided. Room was beautifully decorated, clean and fresh. Evening meal was excellent. Hubby had a small fish which was plenty big enough. I had gammon with fresh grilled pineapple. Delicious. Breakfast was equally good with my favourite - eggs Benedict. Would highly recommend and if we need to break a long journey again will definitely look to book at The Swan.
Excellent staff lovely room and food amazing lovely views will definitely be back with dog too next time as made dogs very welcome Nothing was a problem for the team very polite and accommodating Issie and other team members (can’t remember names sorry) credit to the team
lovely place. very friendly and helpful staff. excellent food. bedroom very comfortable. good location and free parking. would recommend this place. can't fault anything and would certainly stay again if travelling in this area.
We had a garden room, because they are the only rooms that allow dogs. Therefore, unable to comment on the other rooms. Room was spacious, clean and well equipped. No a/c but fan provided.everyone who dealt with us extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. Faultless service. Nothing was too much trouble. I thought the food would be average quality ‘pub grub’ I was wrong, very tasty. I can recommend the calamari to start, sweet, tender and flavoursome. We did not have dessert; no room. My wife had the battered fish and chips. She said it was one of the nicest she had eaten for a long time Breakfast was equally as good, freshly made to order. Even got an extra sausage and bacon rasher for our dog. Fantastic location. Only yards from 18,000 acres of forest, pasture etc to explore with the dog. You don’t have to bring a dog to enjoy this place, but they are genuinely dog friendly. Free doggie treats, barrel og doggie IPA (water) outside with 4 big bowls available. We only had one night. Next week I’m booking again for three nights next May. It was that good.…
The Swan Inn is a lovely country pub with rooms finished to a hotel standard. Our room was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The en suite was was great too with a lovely shower giving the option of normal shower head or a rainwater one. Full size, very nice toiletries provided, thick fluffy towels and a very pretty tiled floor. The added extras made the stay a very welcoming one - earplugs and sleep spray, free Netflix (we don't have this at home so stayed up too late binge watching four episodes of Stranger Things!), complimentary water, milk (in glass bottles - yay!), Prosecco and beer all kept cool in a small fridge with a wide selection of other chargeable drinks and snacks. Nice touch. Breakfast was very tasty and the staff were friendly. Would happily stay here again and would recommend it. Good location for getting to various places nearby - Bristol airport, Cheddar, Weston-Super-Mare. Good value for money, especially with all the added extras.…
