Liked . The room was rather spaciaous, which was very nice. We could close the blinds during the night, so the morning sun was not sweeping in. We bathroom had a bathtub, a total plus. Beds, very confortable. Breakfast was varied and good. There is a tea house in the back, which offers very high quality tea, and you can sit outside and enjoy the view. You can play Tennis if you wish to. There is a museum (we didn't go, so can't say much about it). There is a small house next to the restaurant, where a film telling the history of the hotel is shown. Wear mosquito spray in there!! I'm personally not that interested in architecture and art, but for anyone that is into the Bauhaus movement, you will be very happy here. They have kept everything, and it is all in great shape. The view is great too. You just need a car to get up there, or be OK with walking up and down the hill. Disliked · There is no public transport that takes you up to the hotel, or even near it. The hotel is on top of a hill, so you have to be OK with walking up and down (there is a set of stairs that take you right to town). I would have liked to have a second pillow, as they were not very thick.…
(google it): one of the few hotels in original vintage Bauhaus style. Beautiful even though slightly worn. The lcoation is unbeatable, the history fascinating. Nice breakfast and dinner, not overly fancy will come again
Hotel Monte Verita will impress with the amazing view of Lake Maggiore. There are multiple hiking trails to take you down to the village of Ascona. The rooms are well-maintained and the food is healthy.
I was here for two nights for a small academic workshop and wished I could have stayed a week. It was truely one of the most relaxing and beautiful settings I could have imagined. The meeting room we had was a nice space, as well. My private room was on the top floor (144) of the older rose-colored building. As best I could tell, all the rooms in that building have their own bathrooms, and some even have small balconies (not my room, though, but the one adjacent to me--146?). While the decor is spartan and all-white, the bathroom and room had clearly been newly refurbished and repainted. The staff were absolutely wonderful--warm and welcoming and tremendously helpful!--really beyond the all of duty. My lamp was making a buzzing sound and the woman at teh desk came to my room at 10 PM (right when I called) to see if she could fix it. I had called just to report it and see if something could be done the next day, but she wanted to help right away! I was giving my workshop talk the day we checked out, and the man at the desk also met me check out about three hours after the official checkout time, greatly reducing my stress. In short, I would happliy stay here again! The only drawback (not an issue for me), is that once there if you do not have a car, you are prettty much stuck eating there. Breakfast was fine, but the lunches and dinners were uneven. Some great dishes and others not so much. But one can hardly complain in such a beautiful place!…
I was there for a scholarly meeting for three days, and I wish it would be longer. The place is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. See the image from my balcony below. I had a single room, which means shared bathroom. As it turned out, the bathroom is shared with only one other guest. For the entire duration of my stay, I never met the other person.I should note that there's a sink in the bedroom, which reduces the need to use the bathroom a great deal. The bed is quite comfortable, and the environment is very quiet. When it rains at night, you could hear individual raindrops falling, forming a soothing melody for your sleep. The conference facilities are nice, and there's a computer room in case you'd want to update your presentation (like I did). There's a Bechstein baby grand piano in the conference room. I played twice; it has a melodic and mellow sound (one of the keys is slightly out of tune though). The staff there is kind and helpful, too. All in all, a truly enjoyable and uplifting experience.…
