Detailed Reviews
The hotel is fantastic. The rooms are generous and well appointed. The location offers amazing views of the mountains and easy access direct to walking paths in summer (also for the piste if you are there in winter). The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially for children and pets! We stayed on a half-board basis. The meal in the restaurant was high quality and very tasty. The breakfast was generous. The arrangements for the current CoVid-19 restrictions were well handled to distance guests without compromising the atmosphere. Some amenities were closed due to CoVid but that was well known prior to arrival.

Excellent stay, we were very well look after from beginning to the end. Even if we stay there just two days staffs "knew" us and remember what we order the day before. Very quick as well at check-in and check-out (especially at check-out rather impressed by the speed to produce the invoice and have us paid). Room was spotless. Breakfast has a very good selection that changed on slightly on the second day, which we appreciated. The spa/swimming pool is nice, kids are allowed from age 2 years old (which didn't bother us) if it bothers you, just avoid 4 pm at 5 pm or early morning is still very quiet. Gym is not big and a bit cramped with machine but super clean and spacious so better then an average gym at any hotel we stayed previously with good choice of machines, indeed a plus. Not far from "downtown" walk via the railway station if you want a mostly flat walk. A place to go back really to discover more about the area and enjoy the hotel.

This hotel is probably in my top 3. To me clearly better than the 3 "palaces" you can find in the Lausanne-Montreux region.
The attention to small details in all places, the quality of the arrangements and furnitures, the ideas, concepts and novation, the friendliness and "go-beyond" service of all staff is just something I had not experienced at this level so far.
The mixture between wood in a chalet style and modern hotel is amazing. The quality of materials is impressive. There are so many "niches" where you can have a drink, a relaxing moment or play, it is very well thought and planned. Very friendly and helpful staff.
We had a suite and it was absolutely beautiful with a big balcony and beautiful view. There were so many places we wanted to stay at in the hotel that we could not do it all in 3 days! It just went too quickly.
Spa is very nice and treatments are great as well!
Due to Covid only one restaurant was open but the food was very good and original. Good choice of quality products at breakfast buffet.
This is a perfect place for both couples and families, with lots of residences attached to the hotel around. Lots of play areas for children. There is something for everyone!
Wonderful experience.
Will return. definitively.

Clean facility with good access to col de croix and other areas for biking. Restaurant was good. Be careful not to get the only room without a terrace or balcony! Its a shame not to have access to a terrace. Also, be sure to ask about parking options. We were never told that parking costs 24 chf per day and had the surprise at check out. Service was good. Spa area nice but unfortunately no outdoor pool area and small sun bathing area. Martina in the Spa area was the most hospitable and helpful staff giving great recommendations for alternative dining in the area, always pleasant and always ready to help.

+1
The Royalp still has to learn from other hotels of the same category, even though it has its perks :
+ a free shuttle to drop you off / pick you up anytime until 21:00, very much appreciated since the walk uphill is steep.
+ close to Roches Grises, the train stop on the way from / to Bretaye
+ good food at the Roches Grises restaurant for dinner
+ very professional and kind staff at the front desk
However :
- breakfast : there is no brown bread and they charge you for egg dishes…that’s ridiculous.
- The junior suite park view are not practical (not enough natural light, broken furniture that looks cheap, not nice in terms of interior design)
- The spa is really nice, but it’s not relaxing with children jumping into the water and splashing people around, there should be a specific « splashing time » like in other 5 stars for children to enjoy. The rest of the time they (and their parents!) should respect the relaxation time of the other guests.
- When asked for hiking suggestions, the concierge was not able to tell us where to go, what to do…useless. People go the the mountain to hike, most of the time, you should be prepared !
- The furniture had dust. Hopefully the rooms are better cleaned when guests come with a dog…
In a nutshell, we had a nice time at the hotel but I’m not sure I’d go back. For me Royalp is still lacking some 5 stars aspects.

Dear Vanessa D, thank you very much for your recent stay and for your very constuctive feedback, which you have shared with all of us. It is great to read that you have appreciated the friendly service, the complimentary hotel shuttle to and from Villars, and good food experience in our restaurant. However, I sincerely regret to learn about the different issues which you experienced during your stay. I do understand your disappointment and frustration, and would like to provide a very short feedback on the different reported issues. - Brown bread should of course always be available in the bread assortment and we will make sure this is the case. The additional charge for some egg dishes is indeed not very elegant and I am glad to inform you that these additional charges have been cancelled since last weekend. - A pity you felt that the view of your junior suite was not practical, with insufficient daylight. Concerning the furniture, I am glad to inform you that we will be refurbishing our guest rooms and public areas over the next year. This will for sure strongly improve the guest experience. - We have "quiet periods" at the SPA/pool area, where guest can fully enjoy a relaxed and peaceful moment at our beautiful Spa & Pool facilities. Outside these hours, children should of course still behave but can also enjoy the pool. I regret if you have not been able to enjoy the more quiet moments and understand that this has been disturbing to you. - I fully agree that all our reception/Concierge staff should know all about the amazing leisure activities in and around Villars. We have taken our staff around on the mountain so that they feel familiair and I will make sure that all staff members will be able to share this with our guests. Myself, I am a very active outdoor person in my spare time and do all I can to share this passion and my knowledge with the team. - All our rooms and public area need to be spotless after the daily cleaning and we will reinforce our cleaning standards with our housekeeping team. Once more, I sinceryl apologize for the less good experience you have had at Chalet Royalp and I would be very happy to welcome you back at Chalet Royalp in the near future, and makse sure we make up for the last experience you have had with us. Please, feel free to contact me directly at e.buursink@royalp.ch. It will be a pleasure to take personally care of your reservation. Very kind regards, Egbert Buursink General Manager Chalet Royalp hôtel & Spa

The hotel is nice, and the staff at reception welcoming. The room (a "mountain-inspired Junior Suite") was large and nice, although the view was mostly on a path were several walkers would regularly stop a few meters away from our window. The pool and sauna/steam bath are also large, modern and well decorated. On the negative side, impossible to book a treatment at the spa, it was fully booked - fortunately, we found slots at a nearby hotel. The shower cabin in our room has not been cleaned at all during our stay. And at breakfast, we were told every day that the tables next to the window were occupied, but nobody sat there during the hour or so when we had breakfast. Sad that these few regular issues lower the overall rating of the hotel.

We stayed here as a family just for one night. They very kindly upgraded us to 2 interconnecting junior suites which was amazing. Very comfortable rooms, lovely view , nice breakfast. Great for traveling with children, kids club, games room and very cosy bar and sitting areas. Children are allowed in the spa pool and we received a lovely welcome from the spa manager. I had a brilliant massage , enjoyed the sauna, hamman and jacuzzi. Every member of staff was kind and very courteous, I absolutely loved this hotel. Totally 5 star !

We had a nice and comfortabnle room, in this hotel ideally located for skiing or simply enjoying the moutains by foot. The spa area is nice but small and has a nice pool. The staff was nice. The restaurant "Roche Grise" offers great quality food. The room service is also great. We enjoyed our stay here.

October may be off-season in the Swiss Alps, but with the views and facilities the was a real weekend luxury getaway.
Very friendly and relaxed service.
Rooms were spacious with a terrace and beautiful sunset views over the Alps.
With sunshine and up to 25 C, we unfortunately had no time for the pool and spa facilities. Recommend instead the train up to the mountains - the station is one minute away and takes you right up to pristine hiking areas.
For an aperitif, either the hotel terrace or walk down to the Ptit Chalet to mingle with the locals.
For dinner, both the hotel restaurant and Ecovets (10 min taxi-ride away) serves excellent local fare (October is game season!).
For lunch, have the hotel try to book at the Miroir de l'Argentine above nearby Gryon. Spectaulcar surroundings.

Wonderful location and service. Food was excellent. Service and staff impeccable. Rooms spacious with spectacular view. Spa is great and massage is good. The furnitures in the room are a bit dated and there is no USB port, but you will not care about it because other things are so top-notched.
