Another incredible stay at Hotel Walther thanks to the Swiss opening the borders to vaccinated US citizens. This was my 5th stay at Hotel Walther. Great hub for hiking. Incredible staff. Wonderful pool/spa. Consistently perfect. Spotlessly clean. 3 categories of single rooms make single stays available for folks traveling solo. Spectacular inclusive breakfast. Lovely Swiss bakery across street to get sandwiches to go for hiking. If I wake up at night and wonder where I am...I hope it's here.
We spent 5 nights in a double room (very big room) deluxe with balcony (the balcony actually was a terrace). Everything is prepared, thought and in place to ensure that you spend a wonderful relaxed time with them. Beautiful breakfast, free minibar, delicious room service, smart, attentive and smiling staff, plenty of spaces to store our stuffs (which is many other hotels a challenge), very nice swimming pool and rest areas, free transfer to the train station, ... We felt at home, but totally pampered, which is exactly what an active mother need desperately. You will also receive a card for free public transport (bus, train,...) and cable cars in the region. Pontresina is an ideal starting point for many hikes and biking tours. The village is nice, you have the Coop and several bakeries. We will come back, maybe for winter time, even it's so far away from home. We recommend 200% this place. Thank you very much for these enjoyable holidays.…
We stayed here for a weekend and wished it was for a whole week! The hotel is so beautiful, the staff so friendly and the food so delicious that you never want to leave. The only slight issue is the indoor pool was quite fresh but otherwise we can't wait to come back.
Very nice location within the Engadin, excellent staff, lovely hosts, superb food, also in the Colani Stübli (Hotel Steinbock next door, Küchenchef Jan Burgard). Wonderful interieur, working with different colours. Overall heartily recommended.
Spent a long weekend here (halfboard package) to celebrate my birthday and to do some x-country skiing. It was a delightful stay - comfortable and clean room with turn down service, delicious and varied breakfast, 5-course evening meals, afternoon cake/tea/piano in the lobby lounge, cozy bar for pre/post-dinner refreshments, amazing spa with indoor pool and a variety of saunas, daily newsletter featuring local weather and attractions (German only), short walk to local ski rental service and easy access to well-groomed x-country and winter hiking trails. Special thanks to Mr/Mrs Walther for their personal and welcome and to the entire hotel staff for their impeccable service. Thank you!
From arrival to departure everything worked with Swiss precision, with outstanding friendliness of the staff. The hotel is very cosy, excellent location in the village. We had dinner twice in the hotel (Colani and Trattoria), both meals were really pleasant and tasty. It is rare that you meet such a personal service, this high level of quality. We will gladly come back!
We stayed here for one night in September 2019 and would love to stay longer. A beautifully appointed hotel with a lot of attended to detail with the furnishings, cleanliness and care from staff. Anne-Rose clearly takes a lot of pride and expects the best from all her staff and this flows through. We were surprised by a very warm greeting from Anne-Rose on check-in and more surprised by the the chat and farewell on departure considering they were hosting an enormous function and most of the guests were flooding in. All the facilities (lounges, bar, restaurants) and pool are all equally impressive; my one (personal) negative is the ‘gym’ space is minute considering how vast the rest of the space is. Pontresina is a wonderful town to explore and convenient to base yourself. We would definitely love to return to the Walther one day.…
This was my 4th visit to Hotel Walther. I love staying here. It's worth a trip from my home in Hawaii to unwind in Pontresina and be pampered at Hotel Walther. This year I spent 12 nights. Staff are incredible as they are genuine and perfectionists. It's refreshing to see the same staff every year and they seem to remember me from year to year. The perfect day for me is attending the M W F Aqua exercise class, then enjoying breakfast, going hiking to get >10,000 steps, coming back to the hotel to relax in the spa, and then dinner. To the Walthers...thanks for offering single rooms for folks like me who travel solo. Pontresina is a lovely little town in the midst of great hiking. The hotel provides an Engadine card for local train, bus, cable cars, ski lifts so it's very easy to get around. Thanks so much for another incredible stay!…
My family and I enjoyed our time at Hotel Walther. It was an extraordinary in every way. The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. The woman who checked us in remembered, without being reminded, an email exchange I had with her about a dinner reservation. Later, she took a moment to answer a question I had about language. She even took out a pen and jotted down a quick lesson, which was fun. Our room was beautiful and the hotel grounds are exceptional. We especially enjoyed the complimentary evening aperitif in the beautiful large lobby. The following afternoon a wonderful dessert table was set with incredible pastries. Our nightcap in the bar was happy and comfortable and we enjoyed the music. I am sure our stay here was among the very best hotel experiences we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. I recommend Hotel Walther enthusiastically. …
We returned to this hotel after an interval of some years, to find it as good as ever. We had a very comfortable room. And were on half board. Meals were first class and the service also - many of the staff/waiters have been there for years and their experience made for a great stay.
