The location cannot be more central and nicer, the look is great, like in a fairy tale. The hotel itself is beautiful, careful restored to keep his medieval look. The room was nice, the service great and always with a smile. There are parking places available just about to the entry in the pedestrian area in front of hotel. The breakfast is great, having some local made products, very good and fresh. Also we had dinner at the restaurant and the food was great, the local dishes are very tasty and well presented; a special mention for the desserts which were amazing.

Lovely building, inside and out. Friendly staff. Large clean room. Clean bathroom with good shower. Our room faced the square. When we arrived we were delighted. Great view! It was clear there would be a performance on the church steps that evening. Great, we'll have excellent seats! It finishes at 23:30. Fair enough! Or so we thought. We enjoyed watching the play, even though we didn't understand a word. BUT.....After the play finished, the après-theâtre shouting and roaring in the square continued for two hours. The 6:30 bells, which would have been quaint and enjoyable, even though vigorous and loud, did not sound so sweet after a poor night's sleep. Room Tip: in summer, ask for a quiet room at the back of the hotel, (though I see some reviews about the lack of ventilation in some of those rooms).

Wonderful hotel. Great and thoughtful restoration of a grand and historic building from the late 16th century. Beautiful public rooms, great breakfast, smiling waitresses, very nice host and hostess and all of the help in the world to make our stay a comfortable one. We stayed three nights and I got in those three nights 18 hours of quality sleep. You see, there is a major problem here and it has nothing to do with the hotel and everything to do with a stubborn Mayor who seems to not give a damn about guests to his town and their quality of sleep. Bells. Bells and bells and bells. They start at 0630 and ring for three minutes straight. This is followed at 7 by bells on the hour. Forget about sleeping through this unless you wear hearing aids that you have conveniently left on the night stand. I hated it. Hated it. And so Mr. Mayor, you can pat yourself on the back because you have won. I will never sleep again in your city, lovely as it is, with all of its history and its charm and lovely restaurants and the beautiful Golden Adler Hotel, because you refuse to follow the lead of so many other German towns and shut the banging bells off until a decent hour. Like 8 a.m. Or 9, even better. And one final note for the owners. An oscillating fan at BayWa or OBI costs about 30 Euro. Invest in fans. Your guests will be a lot happier when it's hot.

If you get a room facing the inner courtyard (eg #106), be advised that you will not be able to leave a window open, and that there will be very little ventilation, making it hot and stuffy. I recommend asking for an outward - facing room. They have no oscillating fans, either. The reservation implied that breakfast was included, and this is what I was told on checking in, but then when checking out I was told otherwise. I would not recommend paying 9 Euro for the breakfast. The bathroom was clean and had an excellent shower, and there was secure parking for my bike. If you decline housekeeping service, you can get a 5 Euro coupon for a meal or future stay.

I have stayed at this hotel in the past, when it was under different ownership. I didn't stay on this visit. My hotel, on the other side of the church, didn't have a restaurant. They recommended this hotel's restaurant as being quite "local" and explained that it was owned by the brewery. The service was cordial and not perfunctory as it can be in these parts. The food was alright, but nothing special. I had tripe in sour, a local delicacy. It tasted re-constituted to me. Worse, it was served with soggy, oily, pan-fried potatoes. If one goes for meat and potatoes cooking, then it really has to be good or why spend the calories? I guess my take away is that it'll do in a pinch. Also, the hours are a bit more convenient, as they are open later than other establishments. The restaurant is nothing to be avoided, but no great shakes either.
