Last December on a journey home to Goderich from Guelph, we got caught on Highway 8 by a severe snowstorm. Slipping, sliding and with poor visibility we staggered in to the Shakespeare Inn. Relief - it was open. Very few cars on the driveway. I asked about a double room. Yes. With tax $149.64!. I asked for a cheaper rate...

The room was extremely small as well as the bathroom. Only one person at a time could be in the bathroom. There was only one channel on the t.v.. My son refused to sleep in the single bed because the sheets were so scratchy, they seemed to be some kind of old flannel. I would never stay here again.

The rooms are average. Reasonably clean. The owner lady was very helpful. Don't eat the breakfast. The continental breakfast was; one boiled egg, toast, butter and jam. There is a coffee room for free tea and coffee during the day.

While we were very happy to be able to book the hotel at the last minute and find a hotel that was very clean and not too far from the theatres, it was misleading that their website said there was a free continental breakfast. Upon checking in we were told that breakfast was an upgrade and assured it was worth...

We stayed here because all our favourite motels in Stratford were booked and we had a last minute opportunity to get away. I suspected that we were in trouble when the proprietor proudly pointed out the coffee station featuring powdered coffee and powdered milk. It got worse: it was considerably over-priced for a very small room, an anemic air-conditioner (on...

Rooms and facilities at this hotel are as they should be, neither negative nor positive surprises. Service and hospitality is very good, I got friendly help and advice all the way through my stay. I would stay here again.

My son and I have traveled to the World Crokinole Championships in Tavistock/Perth County for each of the last 4 years. Each trip we have stayed with Dr. and Mrs. Byers at the Shakespeare Inn. The Inn is easy to find as you enter Shakespeare on Highway 7, and is a short drive down to Tavistock. Dr Byers is quite...

The hotel is very plain. Everything is clean. The sign is not illuminated at night so it is hard to find,. The beds are bad. The free continental breakfast should be free because it's poor. Do not bother with the jacuzzi tub because it is really really not worth it.

I agree with Andy B's review below. This is not a "high end" hotel. It's a roadside motel, but a very good one. Very friendly owners, ample parking space, quaint grounds, free wifi, and very very clean. Five minute ride into Stratford. Stayed two nights with no regrets.

Because of changed travel dates, our usual accommodations in Stratford would not be available for the first 3 days of our annual theater festival vacation. The rates for hotels, motels and B&Bs in Stratford were too expensive for us - two couples from Brooklyn so we looked for something reasonably priced but not too far away from the theaters. The...
