Vahiny Lodge is around 6 or so km. outside of Mananjary alongside the Canal des Pangalanes, only reachable by driving along many small dirt and sand tracks. Restaurant and bar areas located around a nice clean pool. Rooms are the largest I have stayed in, in 26 visits travelling around Madagascar, and with all mod cons (See previous photos posted)....

I had the pleasure of staying at the Vahiny for six months in 2009/2012 while working in the area before moving next door to the plantation. The pictures, although beautiful, really do not do it justice, the place is stunning and very very quiet. A little piece of paradise! The pool is perfect and the bungalows are roomy and secure....

We stayed 2 nights to visit the Pangalanes Canal. We reached the hotel from the FCE train, stepping down at Mizilo station (at 9.00 pm) and reaching Mananjary just after midnight: the road was in good condition and our driver could really drive safely even at night. You could also reach the hotel coming from Ranomafana in 3 hours as...
