We arrived here by accident as we were walking from the nearby Bova area the next day and where looking for a nice place to have lunch. On the side of a river (dry in the summer) and in the middle of nowhere we found this beautiful little place. No menu but the friendly people just serve their local produce and accomany it with local wine and water. Delicious and a really good value for money. Hope to return next year!

Whereas our small trekking party did not overnight at Bergamotto, we were on the receiving end of heartwarming, classic Calabrian hospitality on the return from a long day trek in the Amendolea Valley. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his staff and were treated to delicious liquid refreshments - all complimentary! We were given a brief tour and history of the homestead - impressed with its wholly rustic, rural and self-sustaining manner. Its an ideal get-away location and a great staging point for eco-tourism and nature-based adventures.

we stayed four nights in a double bed room. It was not high season, so we were the only guests, but every morning someone from the staff made us a fabulous breakfast and we had the whole terrace for ourselves. The view from there is fabulous. The room was simple but comfortable and beautiful - wild romantic. The owner provided us with very good hiking tips. It was also nice to just walk around the area, visit the donkeys underneath the bergamotto-trees or hang around the terrace.

We just spent 11 relaxing days here. A little paradise with rooms in old stone houses surrounded by Bergamotte, fig and olive trees and the smell of Jasmine. The wonderful shady terrace provides a view to the surrounding mountains, the wide, meandering bed of a dry river and to the sea that is 8 km away (beautiful beaches). Friendly and helpful hosts offering true hospitality and wonderful food (not everyday), wine and products of the farm. Quiet and calm, only the sound of birds, sometimes interrupted by shouting donkeys.

Despite calling Sig Sergi 4 times to organise a booking, he found every reason to put us off coming from saying it was impossible to come without a car; that they wouldn't provide dinner; and that there was a funeral so could we come two hours later. We went elsewhere as Sig Sergi clearly doesn't need the business
