Too high of a price for the provided quality standard. Old furniture, broken doors, no AC, tiny room. Minibar only if you’re lucky (I wasn’t), so no common standard adhered to. 114€ a night in the f**king boondocks?
during a short trip stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The trip include half pension, breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was excellent, the 4 diners we enjoyed there was one I didn’t like particulariteit but that is because of my taste. The other diners were very good. The staff were very helpfunctie and friendly.
My wife's parents came from Glauchau so we decided to spend a week there at the Wettiner Hotel because of the apparently good rates and it's location as a base for touring other cities by car or by train. We arrived by train from Dresden using the excellent value DBahn Sachsen ticket and took a taxi for the short ride from the Glauchau (Sachs) train station to the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised that we had found an excellent value with hospitable owners and staff. Breakfast was included and very good. Dinner was also good and mostly typical German Sachsen food. A small supermarket was across the street for groceries, wine etc with good prices. We rented an auto from Sixth car rental in the nearby town of Zwickau for the week and toured by car on day trips to Eisenach, Erfurt, Weimer, and Meissen. We also took a day trip to Leipzig on a Sachsen pass. To pick the car up we took a short inexpensive one station train ride from Glauchau to Zwickau but I understand it is possible that Sixth may bring the car to the hotel as well if pre-arranged. We had an excellent Golf Diesel at a good rate. The hotel is basically family run and seems popular with locals for dinner and using the adjacent pub. Owner Claudia was especially helpful and took an interest in helping my wife find possible distant relatives in the area. Glauchau was many years ago a thriving textile community. The textile industry is now long gone and the town is now small, quiet and very nice with a fine city hall and adjacent square and stores. It is a pleasant town and a good base for touring Sachsen. We were so pleased we hope to return in the near future. I highly recommend it for a few days up to a week. Yankeeaw…
We were visiting family in Glauchau and the hotel is very nicely located. There is a supermarket across the way and the hotel has a nice little restaurant with outdoor seating as well. The staff is really very nice and helpful as well. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. I know I'm an american (my parents and sisters are from germany) but we were there during a heat wave (which the germans always claim NEVER happens but somehow happens every time i'm there), but a fan might be helpful. at night, there was no durchzug so sleeping was a challenge because of the heat. but this is a problem in most of germany and europe.
I was visiting family in Glauchau traveling with my elderly mother and 2 sons and was surprised to find such a nice place. The staff was very nice both in the hotel and in the restaurant. They were very helpful as well. The restaurant was very good and I was grateful that it was right in the hotel because it made it easier to eat dinner than searching for another place. There was also free wi-fi which was spotty at times, but when it worked, worked well. We happened to be here during the hottest days of summer so no air conditioning (typical for most places) really was a problem and because there are no screens on the window, there were many bugs in the room. Again, this is typical for Germany, but there were more bugs here compared to the other places I stayed during this trip.…
