I booked a room for saturday, 4.9. They mension check in time from 15 - 18.00. I knew we were not going to get there then, so i asked if it is okay to check in between 20.00-21.00. I didn't get any answer to my question. Saturday evening after a whole day of driving, only two stops and a longer waiting for the ferry, it still looked that we were not going to make 21 o'clock. I called the hotel to inform that our arrival was going to be approximately 21.05. The lady told me the hotel was full. I told her that I had a roomreservation, she just told me :" You were not here, so I gave your room away." I NEVER have had this kind of costumer service. Everybody can surely imagine how nicw it is to go looking for another place at 21.00 o'clock.
We stayed at the Hotel Fjordkroen between the 18th and 21st July in one of their junior suites. When we were looking for somewhere to stay in this part of Denmark this hotel stood out as it is located overlooking the Praesto Fjord and was a small family run establishment. It turned out to be an ideal base for exploring the island of Mon along with the main towns of Vordingborg, Naestved and Gavno. The first two nights of our stay passed well, the room was very comfortable, though very warm meaning that you had to have the windows open during the night and the food in the restaurant was enjoyable. On the third evening the hotel was hosting a wedding in it banqueting suite, which is located in the same building as many of the hotel rooms. Given that the hotel is an old building the sound insulation whilst adequate for a dinner cannot cope with the techno disco which started at 10pm. The bass beat could be heard everywhere along with the noise being made by the wedding guests who were standing outside the hotel. This went on to around 2.30/3am making it impossible to sleep. Our stay was ruined , we had come to a peaceful and secluded hotel to relax and instead found ourselves a part of a nightclub. Very disappointing given that the nightly room rate is 156€. It seems that the owners are more interested in the quick profit from a wedding than the welfare of their hotel guests! They need to decide if they are running a hotel or a wedding venue. Perhaps it would make more sense if they were to only rent the hotel rooms on the evenings of weddings to the wedding party like many wedding venues do rather than ruin the holidays of unsuspecting travellers. If you are looking for a peaceful hotel stay whilst in the the south of Zealand then I would suggest contacting the hotel before making a booking. If they tell you that a wedding is planned you should avoid this hotel; if you have any wish for a decent nights sleep. If the hotel was honest it would highlight nights went they had functions planned so people would be aware of the inevitable disturbance.…
We stayed one night and booked a Deluxe room to make sure we have a large enough room. The room was small like a standard one and we could hear our neighbours talking as if they were sitting next to us. We asked for a bigger room but it was not possible. However in the Morning we saw that larger Deluxe rooms were not occupied... Fortunately, restaurant was good (excellent entrecote), breakfast was perfect and hotel location is close to Mon island.
Wonderful to be in a lovely little hamlet, recently renovated B & B style little inn. View from our rooms in the front is just what one wants traveling to the countryside of Denmark--overlooking water and wild flowers. Breakfast was very fresh, great fruits and "authentic".
Charming hotel with beautifully styled rooms. The rooms were so new I was the first guest to stay in my room. Comfortable bed and quiet room. Beautiful ocean view from the balcony. The food was wonderful and the service was the best. I look forward to my next visit.
