Can only give a 5-star rating but would give 10 if we could. Clean, spacious rooms. Incredible and hearty Irish fry (and other menu selections) for breakfast. Great space and great host/hostess. Highly recommend for a stay in central Sligo. Great sitting room to have an evening chat.
A lovely warm friendly welcome from Jacqui at Church View B&B. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated large bedroom, very good breakfast, excellent value for money. A lovely base for visiting beautiful south east Sligo, to enjoy local traditional Irish music, and only a half hour drive to Colleaney Mountain Biking Trail and the coast!
I was advised by a local of the area to visit the Church View B&B in a time of great personal need. I’ll spare you the details, but Jackie could not have been more understanding, accommodating and helpful if I could even imagine it. For €55 a night for two nights, I had a double bed and full en suite bathroom to myself. The decor was instantly inviting and very cozy. There was a kettle, cups, spoons, tea, coffee, milk and sugar; along with a jug of water and two glasses on the dresser. Inside the top drawer I found a very decent hairdryer. I also noticed there were plenty of towels in the bathroom, along with packets of shampoo and body wash, not to mention cleansing pads and flannels by the sink. I immediately flopped onto the bed like you see in the Premier Inn ads and felt so comfortable! The room was entirely spotless and I couldn’t find a single fault. I slept like a baby both nights, with the blackout curtains giving perfect darkness. I can’t remember having any noise disturbance either. The next morning I was treated to delicious pancakes for breakfast (which I had again the next day, but with different toppings) and 2 grand cups of tea, along with toast and brown soda bread, all included in the nightly rate. There were also cereals and fruit available on the counter for those who fancied some. I couldn’t have asked for better. I didn’t have to make use of them, but the Church View has ample parking around the back/side of the building. It is also in close proximity to a take away and is only a few minute’s walk from the renowned Coleman Music centre, for the trad enthusiasts, or the bus stop for those who want to see some sights. If you’re planning on staying anywhere in the surrounds of Gurteen, this is easily the place to go. I can’t recall ever feeling so warmly welcome in such a high-quality establishment. I felt genuinely sad to leave, but all I can say is I know I’ll stay here again if I’m ever back in the area. You won’t regret it!…
We recently stayed at Church View Bed and Breakfast. This B&B was a home away from home. The facilities are excellent and homely, lovely rooms and beds. Jacci was brilliant, very helpful and accommodating during our stay. Our stay was perfect and breakfast every morning was lovely. We had several choices and I think we got to try everything out on the menu for the week we were there. Located in the middle of the village it was close to several amenities, pubs and close to my family while visiting. I would highly recommend the B&B, it was excellent and Jacci and Neil were extremely helpful during our visit. I will definitely stay again in the future.
It would have been close to perfect but the shower was just a mist. I was unable to wash my hair,as there just wasn't enough pressure. An Irish rain shower had more gusto. Breakfast was delicious. And we were greeted by a lovely helpful young lady.
Arrived at church view with a very warm welcome & had a choice of rooms . Room was lovely decorated & immaculate condition all mod cons available in the room, bed was very comfy. Breakfast was excellent & plenty to fill us up for the day.a hidden treasure .enjoyed our stay with ye thank you Caroline oconnor waterford
I stayed here while attending Junior Davy Bodhran Academy in the nearby Coleman Centre. Conveniently located in the centre of town this BnB ticks all the boxes. The rooms are spacious and furnished to an extremely high standard, you are given a key on arrival and can come and go as you please. There is a separate lounge for visitors. The Irish Breakfast was excellent. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Church View as one of the best BnB in the West.
We were made very welcome by Jacci and enjoyed a spacious room overlooking the Main Street of Gorteen and the eponymous church next door. Gorteen is famous for the museum and heritage centre devoted to the influence of Michael Coleman on traditional Irish music (He was born nearby.) and is conveniently located at a crossroads between the larger towns of Ballymote, Boyle and Tubbercurry. Jacci offers warm hospitality, clean and comfortable rooms and a substantial breakfast. Main Street is a surprisingly busy thoroughfare so asking for a room towards the rear of the building might be advisable if noise is an issue, although the traffic calms almost completely at night. The Crossbar pub on the other side of the church offers excellent pub meals throughout the day and there's a small supermarket within easy walking distance of the B&B. …
What a wonderful time we had! We were welcomed into the B&B like family. Jacci was ever accommodating to our needs and it really is the small things that make the difference to a trip. We travelled to gorteen to visit family, and our party consisted of myself, my husband and son, my 88yr old Grandad and my 80yr old great uncle. Jacci greeted us warmly for breakfast on our first morning. When I explained my grandad would not have cold milk on his cereal it was no trouble at all and for the rest of our trip a jug of warm milk was produce without request😆. Jacci was a fountain of knowledge of the local area and gave some very good suggestions of things to do. I highly recommend the Michael Coleman centre. My great-uncle was born in the village but had not returned home for 45yrs so when an old friend had heard that the two "old timers" were in the village and came to look for them Jacci greeted him fondly and allowed him to sit with us whilst they all reminisced. I would recommend this b&b to anyone. It is also located next to a pub which serves food so if you fancy an evening out without the car it is only a hop skip and a jump. Lastly if you want to get a taxi anywhere just be mindful that there is only 1 taxi in the village so if you need to be somewhere at a certain time it would be best to pre arrange. …
Stayed at the Church View Bed & Breakfast with friends while traveling throughout Ireland. It has a beautifully kept rooms that were modern and clean. The owners were very friendly and helpful in telling us about local attractions, restaurants and bars. The breakfast menu ranged from oatmeal to a full Irish breakfast. Everything was very tasty. I would recommend this B&B if you are looking for a place to stay while traveling Ireland.
