Wonderful stay at the end of February with friends celebrating my husbands 50th birthday.
The hotel is small and family run, all the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly.
Food is lovely with a great daily breakfast. Loved the truffle oil pop corn!
Great access to the slopes and good boot room. Lovely well designed rooms with great hot showers.
The hidden gem is the amazing spa. The photos don’t really do this justice and was a wonderful place to relax in at the end of the day. Many times as the hotel was so small we had this to ourselves and was a real luxury.
Thank you to all the team for looking after us so well!
Only things we would suggest is looking at the equipment
fitness room our keen gym friend found it to be a bit basic. Also please add decaffeinated coffee to the menu - I was able to find it most places in town and the slopes but not in the hotel.
Fantastic ski-in, ski-out location and such a bonus to have skis & boots delivered and collected by local rental shop.
We would recommend this hotel very highly and hope to return as soon as possible!
Les Gets is a family friendly resort with a short transfer from Geneva. We got horribly lost driving from & to the airport, the car hire map was rubbish! Whitewater rafting was great fun & caving a good option if like us you have some rainy days. We hired bikes for half a day - if you are using the ski lifts more than once its cheaper to buy a magic day pass. Ask for discount on bike hire with this - our shop didn't offer this but when asked, voluntarily gave us money off.
The hotel is a typical wooden chalet literally on the ski slopes. It as all in wood, very clean and extremely well decorated if you like the cosy/ wooden style.
What was the highlight of the place is the food. Breakfast but in particular dinner were outstanding as far as quality/originality of the food but also presentation and service which was impeccable. Really not a 3 stars but definitely a 4 stars from this aspect.
The reason why it is a 3 stars is probably the size of the rooms and bathrooms that are not very big although really comfortable.
The hotel has a lovely bar with a fire place and a nice terrace on the arrival of the ski slopes and just in front of the kids ski school. Inside there is also a sitting/playing room for kids with several toys and games, a TV with DVD a black board to draw. We never used it but the Chalet also has a sauna and a Jacuzzi.
The atmosphere is very friendly, informal and , the owners and staff working there very nice and after a few days you feel like at home.
I would strongly recommend this place in particular for people travelling with kids. Beside the hotel which is totally kids friendly, Les Gets itself is a ski resort organised all around the kids. Lots of activities, a little train going around the village, easy slopes etc.
Rooms are small but thoughtfully designed with good quality furnishings, flatscreen TV, wi-fi and robes and slippers. We also appreciated the complimentary water, fruit and chocolate left for us on our arrival. Most rooms seem to have balconies with wonderful views over the town or the pistes.
Food at the hotel is an absolute highlight. Inventive but not fussy, a thoughtfully worked out menu (which you can ask to be changed on request), and great ingredients made our half-board stay very enjoyable.
Common rooms include a kids playroom and lovely bar with a blazing fire. A small spa room downstairs has a small sauna and jacuzzi.
The main impression left from a stay here is probably a feature of the hosts attitude - a relaxed warm and friendly environment where great attention to detail is paid to make your stay pleasurable. We will be back!
The Crychar is well sited, pretty much in the centre of town, although up a bit of a hill which gets the leg muscles going! It is very quiet and attractive. There had been a bit of a mix up with our booking (not the hotel's fault, but the internet booking service we used) and so we ended up in a smaller room than we'd planned for. Our daughter had a bed up in a mezzanine above the main bedroom. It had very low ceiling height above her bed and although she liked it, it wasn't somewhere she could really play - just sleep. The bedroom below had a lovely view over the mountains and pool, and the bathroom was very well appointed and clean. The room felt very small though. There were too small built in wardrobes but that was it - not very much space when you are there for a week. My husband needed to do some computer based work while we were there so it wasn't ideal, but having said this it worked out fine for us.
We ate in the restaurant one night and it was very good - but they only offered a set, 4 course meal, which was far more than we wanted to eat every night, and also quite expensive (worth it for a one off but not something we'd like to pay every night). There were lots of nice little restaurants in the town though so it wasn't too much of a hardship to wander out each evening for a meal. Breakfast was also quite expensive - probably worth it if you eat a big breakfast but we really just have a croissant and a coffee, so we wandered down to a bakery for breakfast each day.
The best things about this place, though, are the pool, which is lovely and pretty warm considering the location, the lovely bar area (with newspapers etc) and the children's games room which was pretty and well stocked with toys and books.
This hotel would make a lovely escape for a weekend, and if you have the budget to eat in house, perhaps for longer. The staff were very friendly and the surroundings very comfortable. Just a little bit small rooms for a family and a little bit more choice on having cheaper and smaller meals would have made it great.
Food 1st class perfect if your thinking of a close to town ski in ski out hotel.
Any one trying to fault it in my opinion is being picky !! will book again for Christmas.
