In order to give our boys a couple of extra days on the slopes prior to half term in Les Gets we brought our sons (4 & 11) out two days early and booked into Ferme De Montagne.

We were collected on time at Genève and the communication to meet once we had landed was good (which can occasionally be tricky) and the journey back smooth.

Upon arrival we were greeted with drinks and a lovely light lunch. Lifts in / out of the town were readily available and logistically all was easy and help forthcoming.

The rooms are cosy and classically alpine with the restaurant and bar forming the main hub of the operation. Both dinner and breakfast were superb - small ish portions (which were perfect for us) with the offer of more if you were still hungry. The wine was well priced with a good selection and all of the staff very friendly and made a point of introducing themselves. With a good number of well trained staff the service was great.

We would definitely stay again. 😁

Dear Lilloire, Thank you for such a lovely review. We were lucky to host such a friendly pair of fathers and sons for an evening! We are glad we were able to help the family (especially the kids) get some extra practice on the slopes - in such gorgeous sunshine too! We hope to see you again. Kindest regards, Ferme de Montagne

We had read all those rave reviews, so our expectations were pretty high. We have traveled all over the world, and stayed in some of the best hotels, but our expectations have never really been exceeded - except for our stay here.
Its a small hotel, only 8 bedrooms, more like a really comfortable country house. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. One of the things that really matters to us on holiday is that we should be at least as comfortable as we are at home, or more so. And here we slept in beds even more comfortable than our really good beds at home, heavenly sheets and comfy pillows (you have a choice of many types). The cow bells did wake us early in the morning, but we soon got used to them!
It was a very friendly place, where we met some really interesting guests, but we also had a very private time, dining just the two of us under the stars on the terrace. The food was not complicated, but really delicious.
We played boules with the owners in the cool of the evening, had a late night jacuzzi outside, did yoga every morning under a canvas canopy overlooking the valley. During the day, one of the staff took us out for a walk in the mountains, and the best surprise was a picnic waiting for us at lunch as we came out of the forest.
We have not been skiing before, but we are going to come back to try it here in the winter. If its as beautiful in the winter as it was this summer, it will be the perfect place to learn.

Visited this month for Christmas with my partner and left early due to upset stomach had chicken in sauce and veg for dinner, whist eating we realised it wasn’t cooked properly and was cold in the middle. Asked to speak to the chief and was told the owner Suzanne was actually cooking tonight she came out promptly and said “there was a problem with the microwave”….. she could re-heat.. which of course we didn’t except. Hole of the next day was terrible and costly experience that we will never forget.

Everything about the chalet was good until we got the bill. Food and staff had been excellent and attentive and the ski guides a big bonus (although offering such guiding is illegal as none of the British guides at the chalet had the correct French certification). Suzanne, the owner, appeared friendly to customers but we witnessed several staff being given a real dressing down for 'not smiling enough'.
The bill was presented to us in sterling which we had not been informed about in advance and, not unnaturally, we had assumed the wine list was priced in Euros. As a result everything was some 25% more than we'd expected and she certainly knows how to charge with a gin and tonic at £15 and 'OK' wine at £60 per bottle. 10 of us spent nearly £2500 per couple to stay there for just three nights and were then charged £1400 for alcohol consumed in just 3 days. Arguably our fault as we should have checked the bill as we went along but this somehow seemed unnecessary as everything seemed so friendly.
It wasn't just the bar prices that upset us. Suzanne had offered to organise ski passes but failed to mention this would cost us £300 more than if we'd bought them ourselves. The large sum we were persuaded to pay for 'luxury 4x4' airport transfers was a farce as they were neither luxury or 4x4 and we would have saved several hundred pounds if we'd hired far better airport Mercedes taxis.
We felt everything charged was a 'rip-off' and explained all these problems to Suzanne in writing. She not only refused to raise any credit but she chose to ignore most of our comments. Hardly 5* service...and, incidentally, no one could tell us which accreditation agency had awarded them the five stars.
The hot tub failed while we were there (apparently a regular occurrence) and wasn’t fixed before we left. The place was almost empty with very few other guests.
Would we go back? Very unlikely but only if the package was on an all-inclusive basis and if Suzanne was nowhere to be seen. This might sound harsh but with so many alternative 5* chalets there is no excuse for the owner to completely ignore customers complaints.

We were really excitied about staying at the Ferme de Montagne and there were many things that we liked about it. The fantastic food and the attention to detail were second to none However that attention to detail went a little too far sometime. We really felt the lack of privacy got to us in that the proprietors really had to know where we were and what we were doing at all times, and in particular found that on the staff night off all the guests were expected to eat at the same restaurant in town. We definitely got the impression that we were being frowned upon for going 'off-piste' at dinner. We also felt strongly that there were definitely favourites amongst the guests which seemed to cause friction with others ... I would recommend this hotel, but as it is so expensive make sure that you are happy to relinquish your personal space.

We stayed with 8 friends at Ferme de Montagne in January for a special occasion.

I was the organiser of the trip and prior to our trip I communicated on a regular basis with Ellie, the Client Relationship Manager.

During one of those exchanges I was send some questions about our preferences for example: What kind of pillows we wanted (did we want Dacron or Feather)
Which factor Suncream we wanted
Which type of Nespresso coffee we wanted in our room

This felt incredibly special and beyond anything we had experienced before (even after staying to some amazing places around the world)

We invited all our friends around for dinner before our trip and I compiled a spreadsheet with our preferences by person and by couple/room.
This also included food intolerances and ski equipment requirements to help Ferme de Montagne be ready for our arrival.

Unfortunately not only was none of what we prepared used but it was simply ignored.

We did not have the right suncream, pillows or coffee. I will quickly add that it did not matter but our expectations had been raised and it left us disappointed.
We asked Ellie twice during our stay for a change of pillows for one bed and were told they didn't have enough of that type.

On another note, the shower gels and shampoo get replenished in the same bottles every day. The bottles look old and are in need of replacement.

The problem is when you start looking for the small details, there is plenty to find at Ferme de Montagne to criticise.

We have stayed at Scott Dunn flagship chalets before and the standard is much higher for a much lower price.

As the organiser of this trip, I was left a bit embarrassed at times. One of our friends had to travel in the boot of the 'Ferme de Montagne' car on the way back to the airport. Not quite 5 star!

It’s with mixed emotions that my wife and I offer this review. We have many positive comments to offer about the staff who attended to all of our needs; however, we were disappointed in the failure of the owners to stand behind an event they planned on our behalf that did not come close to living up to the expectations they created.

Furthermore, we found the interactions with the owners to be a bit forced, contrived, and occasionally overwhelming. When you pay the rates that are charged by this property, you expect a bit more discretion and privacy – we certainly didn’t need or want the daily “chat” at breakfast and dinner that was thrust upon us.

Speaking of dinner, the chefs are phenomenal, bit the flexibility is minimal. If you come with children – and actually enjoy spending your meals with your children – you may want to think twice about staying here. You’re encouraged to have them eat at an earlier hour than you with any other children on the property, and they are not given a choice of meals at all, but rather presented with the chef’s kids' meal of the day. Again, not what I would expect given the premium price.

In the interest of balance, I want to once again acknowledge the staff. They are comprised mostly of 21-25 year old men and women who seem to be on break from University, in-between school and life, or more generally adventuring a bit before settling into the workforce. Almost without exception, they are earnest, enjoyable, and professional. It is they who earned the 3 stars in this review.

What else can we say? This was truly a wonderful holiday. We were totally looked after, from the moment we were picked up at Geneva airport (with our bags carried for us) and throughout the holiday. The owners were exceptionally welcoming, and spoke to us whenever they were in the hotel - as well as taking us out for a wonderful day's skiing with a memorable lunch in one of the mountain restaurants.
What was truly impressive was the 20-something staff, who could not have done more for us during the week.
The mains water supply broke (under one of the ski pistes), and there was no water for a couple of hours each day for a couple of days, they heated water in the kitchen for us and brought all the guests huge pots of hot water to bathe in, as well as bringing us loads of bottled drinking water. It was hard work for them, but they couldn't have done a better job. Thank you all, and don't worry about the complaining family for whom nothing was enough! And thanks for the complimentary bottle of champagne - you really didn't have to do that.

The ski lift is just across the lane, we were accompanied on the slopes by ski guides who took us to some terrific places. The snow conditions were amazingly good, not just that the ski guides took us to the best slopes, but just the best we have experienced anywhere for 10 years.

Then back to tea and cake by the fireside, a dip in the outdoor jacuzzi as the sun set, a fantastic quality massage,, a cocktail at the cute Parisian zinc bar and ...
\Dinner. Wow! Really good food this was, top chef,, best we have eaten in the Alps, better than the Michelin in Megeve.. Breakfast too was brilliant. Hey, these guys know how to make a coffee, we voted them top baristas in the Alps..

Unbeatable value, hugely comfortable, lovely guests (mostly!), lovely staff, lovely owners, just the best ski holiday ever. Thank you.

The Ferme de Montagne is a unique chalet-hotel beautifully located in the hamlet of La Turche, part of the small town of Les Gets and just an hour's drive from Geneva Airport. The hotel is small and friendly - I think it has eight rooms - for my family it is like being at home - only the food is much better!

The owners Suzanne and Henry are fantastic hosts - consequently it is brilliant for single travellers as well as couples and families. I think we've stayed at The Ferme more than a dozen times and it is consistently really good quality. The chef Alan produces amazing and inventive food - he is hoping for a Michelin star.

The skiing is ideal for beginners and intermediates - there is a drag lift opposite and a chair lift 2 minutes away - these lifts link into the Porte du Soleil ski area that extends to Switzerland and is huge. We are mixed ability when it comes to skiing and everyone is happy with the range of pistes here - even our snow boarding daughter.

I'd strongly recommend The Ferme for a skiing holiday where you are really pampered and where the food is more 'London' than Alpine.
