Good points:

Close to the slopes - 5 minute walk, we booked with Crystal ski and very quick transfer and dropped right outside the hotel! Lovely bakery service available every morning. The lounge/kitchen was the best part of the room with a comfy sofa. The heating worked well and kept the appartment warm.

Bad points:
The room smelt of cigarettes which was unpleasant and a big disappointment for us! You were made to complete an inventory list to check everything was in the appartment which took time out of our day. One of the duvets had blood on which reception did thankfully sort for us quickly. The sauna was broken when we were there so didn’t get our free use of this and found the hot tub very busy so again didn’t get to use this - could use a booking system for the hot tub? There is no oven (only a microwave oven) and a hob however we ate out most nights instead.

Things to note:
You have to pay a £400 deposit on arrival which was a shock to us! We then checked out at 7am due to our flight time so we are still trying to get the deposit back after it being over a week!!! The wifi isn’t the best despite paying for it due to no 3G signal in the apartment. Washing up tablets/ liquid/toilet roll aren’t provided so bring/buy your own!

Overall a value for money stay with having a good experience of our ski holiday - (due to not spending much time in the apartment). However there were some downfalls as explained!

Skiing holiday booked via Crystal ski. Second floor Two room appartement with alcove ok for two adults and two children 11 and 14, warm and confortable. We enjoyed going in the pool and jacuzzi after a day skiing.
Good location, only a short walk to ski lifts. The kitchen is nice but you need to take your own dish washer tablet, salt. There is a laudry room with washing powder included in the price.
Negative points: bed sheets and fitted sheets stained.
We would come back in the winter but not in summer as balconies are small and chalets very close to each other.

Comfortable apartments, nice pool, great location. Staff unhelpful. Charges for everything. Make your own beds and clean up even though you’ve paid cleaning fee. Apartments warm and beds comfortable. Sauna not working for half our stay.

Room was a good size, but unclean. I mentioned this to the staff who were disinterested and shrugged their shoulders. You must pay for the WiFi at a rate of €5 per day per device or €25 for the week. I paid for the WiFi for one day at €5 and it didn't work. I raised this at reception and the receptionist explained that it never works!!!
Overpriced, dirty and rude staff.

Very disappointing experience. Arrogant staff that is only available a few hours per day, appartment with many shortcomings of which wifi to pay, damaged furniture, loose curtains, not functioning bathroom heating and outlets, dirty extractor, tv with only French programs, are just a few.
Was there noting allright? The beds and the location were ok.
Anyhow, we will NOT be back.

I have to say after booking the residence fermes d'emiguy, and then reading some of the reviews i was a little worried at what to expect. I have felt the need, however, to write my first ever review as I strongly feel the reviews are far to critical. I can only say we had an excellent experience. The residence was clean and well run, the staff very friendly and the facilites were excellent. The appartments were spotless, and well equipped, spacious and more than adequate for a family ski holiday. The pool was great, the kids loved it and even I had a dip in it. It isn t the biggest pool, but it is fine. The Jacuzzi is really really warm, like a hot bath, and although it can get a bit crowded from time to time I never felt I had to wait my turn to get in. The only criticism is the dumb booking procedure for the steam room and sauna. You get one free go per appartment. They are hardly used, and im sure it would serve the residence well to open it up for free use for all residence. They are large enough to cope with a few people in, and it seems a waste having them empty all the time!

We were in Les Gets for the third time and we love the village, the beautiful slopes in the woods and the friendly atmosphere. Second time at Fermes Emiguy and we like the place since it's modern and well equipped. Our apartment unfortunately smelled tobacco when we arrived but the staff immediately got it cleaned and treated and also changed the curtains. No discussion from their side. The equipment wasn't complete but it was OK anyway. Beds are comfortable and the fridge is big also with a quite big freezing compartment. Bring basic cleaning and dishwashing products and then you do the cleaning yourself to save 120€.
The last day we forgot our camera in the changing rooms beside the pool after we had been skiing. The lovely staff found it and sent it back to us by post. We are so very happy about that. Thank you!

First impressions were very good, the apartment was modern and cleanliness was a high standard. However being a group of 6 on a self catering holiday, the oven was very poor. It wouldn't heat up enough to cook meals, so unless we used the hobs we had to eat out.
The pool and jacuzzi was a let down, there was children openly urinating by the side of the pool and all children were unsupervised and causing disruption to other hotel users.
Most importantly when we returned home we were accused of breaking our balcony door which resulted in the hotel keeping our £257.20 deposit. When we handed in our final supplement charges on the last night we asked the hotel staff to come and check our room to ensure they were happy with the state of the apartment- which they refused-, despite this being hotel policy. Through emails we had to ask the hotel for photographic proof of the glass door we were supposed to have cracked. In return we got a photo of a cracked door which was quite obviously not our room or was taken after new guests had already arrived as it was not our belongings shown in the photo. We are still trying to settle this with our credit card company and intend to get our money back as we are getting blamed for something we never did. We are hugely angry and disappointed with the hotel management.
They have ruined what was a great holiday.
I would definitely not return to stay at Les Fermes Emiguy and hope that this doesn't happen to anybody else.

Having read the reviews on TripAdvisor for Fermes d’Emiguy just before leaving for France, we were dreading what we were going to find, as it sounded terrible! Reviewers leaving comments like “these are the worst apartments we have ever stayed in”, didn’t exactly inspire confidence! Our expectations were therefore so low that we were actually quite pleasantly surprised by what we found. It’s clear the apartments must have had some teething problems when they first opened and this would explain some of the very poor reviews it received from people staying in January. However by the time we stayed (in the middle of February), most, though not all of the problems seem to have been sorted out.

We arrived fairly late on Saturday evening (around 6pm), so didn’t encounter any of the problems other people have reported of reception being chaotic because of too many people arriving at the same time. There was just one other family in front of us and so we had just a few minutes wait before we were checked in. The ladies on reception were friendly, polite and helpful. Despite the fact we hadn’t booked in advance, they had no problem finding us a space in the garage under the building. This cost €49 for the week, which seemed reasonable to keep your car close by and out of the snow and cold. Some people have reported that they couldn’t fit their car in the garage as the roof is too low. All I can say is that they must have particularly tall cars. My BMW X5 – which isn’t exactly the smallest car on the road! – fitted no problem at all. I noticed other cars with roof boxes also fitting in without a problem. It is quite tight to manoeuvre in the garage though, so care definitely needs to be taken not to scratch your car, but height wise we didn’t have a problem.

The apartments are brand new, so everything was in good condition and decorated to a modern and good standard. The individual apartments themselves aren’t big. We booked an apartment that was supposed to sleep up to 6 people and found this was just about right for our family of 4. With 6 people it would have been quite cramped I think, so my advice would be to book an apartment that sleeps a larger number of people than you’re actually taking.
The apartments were nicely decorated, comfortable, warm and equipped to a good standard. There was a particularly bad small emanating from the kitchen sink which didn’t really disappear all week, but by keeping the plug in the sink, we managed to keep the smell to a minimum. After a while we got used to it anyway!

The first slightly odd process you have to go through on arriving in your apartment, is to check a long inventory they give you. The inventory lists absolutely everything that’s supposed to be in your apartment, from the number of spoons to how many bins there should be - so it’s quite a long list! You’re supposed to check off everything on the list and fill out a form to confirm everything is there. The French to English translations are a bit poor in places, so it makes for an interesting test of your French, trying to check you aren’t missing anything! This really feels like something the apartment owners should do for you and not something they should be expecting newly arrived guests to have to worry about.

Another thing newly arrived guests shouldn’t have to do (in my view), is make their own beds. We’ve never stayed in apartments before, where when you arrive there are various piles of sheets and duvet covers and you then have to work out which sheets and duvet covers go with which beds, put the duvets in the right duvet covers and put the sheets on the right beds. The duvet covers they provided didn’t seem to fit some of the duvets, so it was all a bit frustrating and something you could do without when you’ve only just arrived.

The apartment was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Whether this was because the previous occupants had left it so clean or because the apartment owners had done a particularly good job of cleaning the apartment, we don’t know. Either way, we have no complaints about cleanliness.

Each apartment has its own individual, lockable ski-locker, which is down in the basement of the apartment block. It’s quite a nice touch having your own locker and not something we’ve experienced before. Each locker has four or five shelves for boots, helmets, etc. and space where you can lean your skis. The downside of the lockers is that they are down in the basement and so you are reliant on the lift to get you there (unless you want to struggle up and down several flights of stairs in your ski boots!). This brings me to a general complaint about the apartments – the fact that everything is split over several floors, but each apartment block has just one lift. The car park is on levels -1 and -2, the ski lockers are on level -1, reception is on level ES (whatever that means), the door to get you out of the apartment is on level zero and our apartment was on level 1. So when you’re carrying heavy suitcases or your skis, you’re very reliant on the lift, and with just one of them everyone seemed to be suffering from the same frustration of having to wait a long time for the lift to arrive.

Reception will happily order baguettes and croissants for you each day, which you have to order before 6.30pm the night before you want them. You can then pick your order up the next morning after 8am. Frustratingly you only seemed to be able to order one day at a time, so you had to remember each day to put your order in. We didn’t get back to the apartments until after 7pm on a couple of days and so it was then too late to place an order and we had to do without the nice French breakfast that we so look forward to.

As mentioned by other reviewers, the apartments are around 400 to 500 metres from the ski lifts (depending on which lifts you want to use). This meant that they were just about close enough that you could walk in your ski boots and carry your skis each day, without getting too many blisters. At the end of a long day of skiing, the walk isn’t something you look forward to doing in your ski boots (or are we just very lazy?!), but it’s not too bad. Walking from the apartments to the centre of Les Gets when you’re not in ski boots is absolutely fine and you’re in amongst the restaurants and shops of Les Gets within 5 to 10 minutes of leaving the apartments.

The situation with the hot water wasn’t something that caused us a problem, but that was probably only thanks to the other reviewers here highlighting the problem, so we knew to be careful. Each apartment has its own hot water tank and the water in the tank is heated up just once every 24 hours – at night while you’re sleeping I think. Once you’ve used this hot water up, that’s it, it doesn’t get re-heated until the night time. Knowing this meant that we tried to keep our showers as short as possible and didn’t try to shower and bath on the same day. So we didn’t encounter a situation where we ran out of hot water. I suppose you can argue that this is a very environmentally friendly approach, but on a skiing holiday where a long soak in the bath or shower is something you look forward to, it does seem a bit ridiculous to be worrying about running out of hot water.

The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were both fine when we used them. No problem with dirty nappies being left lying around or the lights floating in the pool, that other reviewers reported. The pool is only tiny – 2 or 3 strokes and you’ve swum a width!, but it was fine for a relaxing soak. Could have been a touch warmer ideally though.

In this day and age you expect WiFi to be available and it was. However I think charging €7 per day is excessive and so we didn’t bother with it. A couple of Euro a day would seem more reasonable and we would have paid this.

We do have to criticise the checking out procedure at the end of the holiday. You have to book an appointment for someone to come and inspect your apartment. We’ve never come across this before and it seemed a bit of a demeaning process to have to go through. A bit like being back at Scout camp and having your tent inspected!! With the long journey back to Calais to do, we booked an appointment for the earliest possible time they would let us, which was 8.10am. We waited until 8.30 and nobody turned up, so in the end we just dumped the keys off at reception and left. So we’ve no idea what time they eventually turned up to do our inspection. We paid our deposit on a credit card, so we’re just hoping this has all been refunded ok. Not a great process and something they need to review I think. At the very least they need to turn up to the appointments on time.

So, the million Euro question: Would we stay there again? Many reviewers have said absolutely not, but we would disagree. We think (for the price) it was absolutely fine. We’ve stayed in better, but then we’ve paid more. The apartments themselves are good, it’s just the service that could be improved. All in all, we had a great holiday there and we’d happily stay at Fermes d’Emiguy again.

We had a fantastic stay at Les Fermes D’Emiguy from 17th-24th March. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, particularly the manager Emily, and gave us lots of useful local information. There’s a lovely lounge area in reception with a pool table where you can also help yourself to complimentary tea and coffee. This was great on arrival although we didn’t use it the rest of the week. We had a 2 bedroom apartment for 6 on the top (3rd) floor in building D. The building was easily accessible from the main reception without going outside. The apartment itself was really spacious. We were a family of 5 with 2 children aged 4&2. One of the adults used the sofa bed which he said was comfy. The beds were comfortable and it was great having two bathrooms (just one WC separate). Being on the top floor we were under eaves so there was a bit of head bumping in certain parts of the apartment but we liked being at the top and had nice views from the balcony up towards the mountain and village. The apartment was adequately equipped for our needs. Big fridge, small microwave / combi oven. One point is there are no cleaning products or equipment in the apartment except one loo roll, so worth taking own cloths, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc.

We only used the pool area once mainly because the kids were so tired after skiing and sledging. The Jacuzzi was lovely.

The residence has a couple of other really useful services including a bakery delivery service for breakfast and they also have a good selection of games you can borrow for the kids which my son loved.

In terms of location the residence is a really easy 5 minute walk to the village centre and lifts. Our 4 year old did it every day without complaint which says a lot. We left our ski equipment at the skiset hire shop at the foot of the slopes which I would definitely recommend doing. There are public lockers there too.

The resort couldn’t have been a more perfect pick for our first ski holiday with kids in tow. The ESI were fantastic with my 4 year old son and the kids ski area at the top of the bubble was perfect. By day 3 we were skiing as a family in the afternoons and in the brilliant ‘Indian’ area for kids and the neighbouring milka green runs. This area was amazing, with teepees for picnics, face painting, and a hut with loos and a picnic area where kids could do drawings. The best part was the little sheep and goats that the kids could pet. We even took my 2 year old up there one day in a back pack and he loved it.

Overall we had an incredible holiday here and I’d highly recommend this residence and resort and we will definitely be back!

If you call them via the hotels direct phone number, there is a lady on the reception who speaks English and is very helpful. I'm sure they could arrange something for you as from experience the go above and beyond for customers.

Yes they take the payment and hold it until you check out. We have never had any problem with getting the deposit back though. The prices to eat out varies. There is a really good kebab shop in the centre which is reasonably priced. They aren't anything like English kebabs by the way! There's also a very good Italian restaurant on the square which is nice. You can sit and watch the kids play safely in the square while eating. There area lots of nice little restaurants around. Morzine is also worth travelling into for the day/ evening as it has more choice of restaurants/ shops.
