Detailed Reviews
We've just returned from a fantastic holiday at Chalet Le Frene in Les Gets. Jo and John made everyone feel welcome with a friendly home from home atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was tailored to our needs. We are a family of 4 and we stayed with our friends who are another family of 4 so we had exclusive use. The rooms in the chalet were very comfortable and spacious and we made the most of the lounge downstairs which was perfect for the kids to play and relax in. There was a TV/DVD x-box and games for us to use. As we stayed at New Year there was also a fabulous Christmas tree to add to the home from home feel.
The chalet itself is about a 5 min drive from Les Gets and Jo and John were happy to transport us when we needed it, we just had to ring. We also drove so we had Cars on hand to transport ourselves when we needed to, although this isn't necessary as the transfer is part of the service offered. Jo recommended Ski hire and Ski lessons and was able to secure us a discount which was great. The ski hire shop was in the best location and we were able to rent a space to store the equipment there for the week to save on transporting it every day.
The food provided in the Chalet was amazing. Jo is an amazing cook and the hospitality was excellent, with 3 courses every night (except their night off). Although we're not big drinkers, wine and beer is all provided. The kids ate separately at 6.30 and the adults all ate together with Jo and John at 8pm. Our children loved the food and ate really well, tucking into the 4pm cake as well as the hearty evening meals. Food preferences were checked in advance which was a good idea.
Les Gets was a great family ski resort, very picturesque and not spoilt by large concrete hotels. Great shops and Great skiing. I also really loved the atmosphere of staying in a chalet rather than a hotel and being able to play in the area around the chalet which was out of town and perfect for the children.
Definitely highly recommend. Thanks for a great week.

This Chalet was recommended to us by friends and I now know why they keep going back!
This was our first time skiing in France also the first catered chalet we've been to so didn't know what to expect, we certainly weren't disappointed.
We were met at the airport by Zara who took us to the Chalet where we were greeted by Jo who'd been busy making our supper.
We didn't have to sort anything out with the skis or passes as Jo had already booked them for us so we were straight on the slopes in the morning.Jo had even sorted lessons for our son and friends.
Jo and Zara came out with us on some of the days which we really appreciated as they took us on some great runs, gave us ski tips and also the best places to eat.
When we'd finished our day they were there to pick us up whatever the time, back for tea and home made cakes.
In the evening they cooked us a fabulous three course meal with all the wine and beer we wanted.
The Chalet is well kept and clean with beautiful views of Mont Blanc.
Our hosts couldn't do enough for us and were very friendly.
We had a fab week with great company and are already looking at what date we can go back next year.
We would highly recommend Chalet Le Frene for those looking for a quality ski holiday in Les Gets.

We had the best ski holiday ever at the Chalet Le Frene for a week in February with a party of eight.
The chalet itself has ensuite bedrooms, some of which have fantastic views over the resort of Les Gets to Mt Blanc, all beautifully presented and clean. There is a hot tub under an overhang of the chalet, which has amazing evening views across the snowy mountains, which we spent hours in(!).
The food all week was lovely, a lot of thought put into a creative menu whilst also catering to some of our picky party with likes and dislikes.
Jo could not have been more helpful, offering lifts every day to and from the ski lifts, helping to organise ski hire and give advice. She has been operating the chalet for many years - she really is the best!
We were all very sad to leave. Can't wait to return next year.

We have stayed here twice and love the welcome and friendly service. The food is fantastic and the chalet clean and comfortable. It's like staying with friends and we are looking forward to going again next year. Although we were slightly concerned this year by reports of lack of snow we needn't have worried- the pisteurs did a fantastic job and the skiing was great too.

Chalet Le Frene is a wonderful, warm and friendly destination if you want to be thoroughly spoiled and pampered on your holiday. The bedrooms are comfortable and all ensuite, with plenty of hot water to soothe any aching muscles! Les Gets is a great place to ski and after a hard day on the slopes you'll be welcomed home with tea and cake. Keep some space though for Jo's generous evening meals, not to mention the wine. Jo is the fairy godmother of chalet hosts and will make sure that nothing you might need is overlooked. She will arrange your ski and boot hire if you wish and will ferry you up and down the hill to the village. It's a winning formula and so we have been back every season since our first visit fifteen years ago.

Now I've lured you in to read my review I thought I'd start of with the basics and work up to the best bits.
The chalet itself is located outside the hustle and bustle of Les Gets centre aprox 5 mins in the car. The mountainside location gives spectacular views of the Ports du Soleil and neighbouring areas.
Each bedroom has an en suite with shower which provides copious amounts of hot water! A mixture of doubles, singles & bunks are spread throughout the rooms for larger groups. Bedding and towels were all provided and rooms were clean on arrival.
The kitchen/dining area is where the magic happens....afternoon cake, 3 course meals and plenty of beer and wine to keep you entertained. The standard of the food and wine was excellent and there was never a shortage of seconds!
Every morning we were ferried down to the lifts with ski's and boards and also collected later if needs be. When the snow conditions are good you can even ski back to the chalet door (this is off piste however a worthwhile excursion).
If you opt for some apres I'd recommend Bar Bush for a demi (chalet cake can also be eaten here ;-)). A live band also play mid week at the Apres Bar which has a good atmosphere as it's outdoor.
The chalet hosts John and Jo were very welcoming and always willing to help. They gave us some good tips throughout the week to ensure we got the most out the mountains.
Top tips - Drink Cotes du Rhone in the chalet, French drink demis, Quiz at Bar Bush on Fridays, Jo is always willing to make tea!

I stayed here for three nights from 4th Feb to the 7th and in my stay here I've never known any hosts to be as accommodating as John and Jo! I arrived late in the afternoon and was greeted by a cup of tea and cake and shown to my room, which had a spectacular view of Les Gets!
The next two days were just as good as Jo and John really made sure I had a great and welcoming stay, the best bit, besides the skiing, was John's three course meals!
Definitely worth a stay here if you're coming to Les Gets. Great value for money and fab hosting, thank you so much John and Jo - I hope to return next year :-)

I am somewhat reluctant to post this review as our trip to Chalet Le Frene was that good that I am not sure I want others to know about it.
Firstly Jo and John were amazing - so hospitable and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble from running us to the ski shop to giving advice on which runs to take.
The food, we were a couple travelling and staying for 4 nights and the food was very very good. Each night was a real treat and I can honestly say I had one of the best desserts I have ever eaten.
The room was clean and we had everything we needed - including eventually the snow.
I would certainly recommend staying here and only wish our trip could have been longer.....

A wonderful holiday at Le Frene.
Jo and John offer a fantastic skiing experience like no other chalet holiday.
They dropped us off at the ski hire shop where all our kit was stored every day and picked us up at the end of our day.
The food was fab and the friendliness was immeasurable.

From your 4pm cake, to three course exquisite meal, or simply a friendly laugh with Jo and her team, this chalet is great. The food is amazing from breakfast through to dinner, the wine chosen by the chalet is always a great choice and the chalet itself very comfortable. Strongly recommend you stay here and enjoy the great views and feel part of the Les Gets family with Jo and John.

Can you please let us know if you have room availability for a single adult for any of these options:
1. Monday 29th Feb - Thursday 3rd March (3 nights); OR
2. Monday 7th March - Thursday 10th March (3 nights); OR
3. Monday 14th March - Thursday 17th March (3 nights)?
At what rate?
Thank you

Hi,
I am another independent chalet business owner and I do all my bookings in the same way. It is prohibitively expensive for small businesses to get cover with a recognised authority such as ATOL .
If you are really concerned I would recommend giving them a call, they will be more than happy to reassure you that they aren't faking it! Alternatively, try calling another small chalet holiday provider in the same resort. Most of our chalets have strong network links with other providers in resort and are happy to vouch for each other!
If you are thinking of booking with Jo at Le Frene then don't hesitate. I have holidayed with, and worked for Jo since I was a teenager (she taught me everything I needed to know to start my own business!) and I think you will have a great stay with her.
