We are a family of 5 and had to have an impromptu one night stay in Les Gets at the end of our holiday. We stayed here at short notice via booking.com and were very impressed. Although an old hotel, it has clearly been refurbished to a very high standard. The rooms were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The towels were soft and perfumed, and the bedsheets/ duvet crisp cotton. It is family run. The cost was approx E450 for a twin and a triple room for the night. The owner and his colleagues were very helpful and attentive. There is a cosy fireplace to nestle down next to in the evening, and a nice bar/ restaurant area. The restaurant was on the pricey side but very good. Free tea/ coffee and cake was provided in the afternoon. The hotel is located in La Turche. You can click on your skis outside and get directly onto a long button lift to access the main ski area of Les Gets, but walking into town is a bit of a schlepp and not really possible. However, there are buses which leave every 15 mins.

Fantastic hotel stay with friendly staff great position just outside the village, free public bus to the village every 20 minutes but the walk was only about 20 minutes. Phillippe ski shop next door offered discount fo hotel guests. Access to the ski area was brilliant. Room was clean comfy and warm. Only slight negative was that the breakfast was not worth 12 euros each, other than that we will definitely stay there again.

Stayed here for a week with the entire family. The staff was outstanding in cordiality, attentiveness, flexbility, and service orientation. The hotel is located directly on the La Turche ski lift (and blue slope), so absolutely perfect to start the day without needing to take the bus down to the ESF and to all the main lifts which are usually very crowded in the morning. The rooms are pleasant . They are simple but leave nothing to be desired. What really made the stay for us were the great meals (excellent breakfast, a hosted afternoon tea from 5-6pm with cakes or crepes, and nice dinners with local dishes) and very nice interactions with the hotel staff. Would return anytime and can very warmly recommend for the skiing season.

This is a fantastic hotel directly across from the button lift which gifts access to other chairlift to get you across Les Gets.
Rooms were lovely (look like they have very recently been refurbished) and have a small balcony.
As the hotel is at the bottom of the piste you can ski right to the ski & boot room!
Breakfast was very traditional buffet which was constantly replenished.
Staff were very friendly and always smiling and laughing ☺️👍
Would recommend this hotel.

We have just spent a fantastic week at the Hotel La Grand Laniere. Our sincere thanks to all of the staff at the hotel who were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they seemed more like a family than staff/work colleagues.

You get great views from the rooms. The walk down to Les Gets is pleasant and takes about 15mins. The regular free shuttle bus (around every 10 mins in peak holiday time) was really useful for those occasions when we did not want to walk back up.

We had two evening meals in the restaurant, both of which were superb. We also had breakfast every morning, which was equally excellent.

Thanks also to Philippe Sport for the ski hire. The hotel guests have a discounted rate there. The staff were really helpful and for first time skiers made sure we were kitted out correctly, at a great price.

We will definitely be returning. Thank you to all the staff and the management team at the hotel for creating a home from home atmosphere, it was nice to meet you all.

Best wishes

This is a lovely hotel with great rooms and a very nice lounge in Les Gets.
I was travelling on my own with two teenage girls and got a quadruple room.
Our room was ready early when we arrived from Geneva this was great.
Quadruple has 2 bathrooms very handy when travelling with teenage girls.
Excellent view right on to the snow and slopes. However, these lifts were closed as insufficient snow at the end of Jan 2023.
The downside was squeaky bunks so I ended up sharing my bed with one of the girls to save the other moaning !
The rooms don't have a fridge but you can keep cold drinks etc on the balcony.
The bar and restaurant were good and we made use of both, Batiste was very attentive serving us.
Need to get the free bus into Les Gets - only 2 per hour and tricky routes with several lines, during school holidays I believe the service is better and there's a night bus. Out of school holiday time it wasn't really possible to coordinate buses to eat in town.
We returned one night after there was rain on the ice at the doorway and it was treacherous especially with an 87 year old in our party, so be careful and use the locker room access as nearer to the main road which is generally clearer.

Just had a wonderful week at La Grande Laniere. Perfectly located for La Turche lift and Phillipe Sports. Ski in and out. We had a family room with a double bed and bunk beds. Super comfortable and quiet. Only negative was the bunk bed squeaked terrible when anyone moved. Double was very comfortable. No stand alone shower but the bath was welcome after a long day on the slopes.

Warm and friendly staff, lovely cosy bar with fire. We opted out of breakfast but it looked lovely and staff always made me a lovely coffee.

The restaurant is also very good. Had several very good meals there with friends. Best fondue in Les Gets!

Great location if you want to avoid the busy village centre and lifts. Look forward to another stay there next year hopefully!

Responded 22 Feb 2023
Dear guest, We were delighted to welcome you in our establishment and we thank you for your observations. We are glad that you enjoy your stay in our hotel. We have chosen high quality bedding (a French brand from André Renaud), equivalent to those used in 4-star hotels and we are surprised and sorry about the bunk bed noise. We are looking forward to seeing you next year. Best regards

A great hotel on with ski in/out via button lift. Nice bar and restaurant. About 15 mins walk to the village centre. Staff couldn’t do enough for you. We feet the room was a little bit small given the price. Would return!

Initially I was a bit worried that this hotel wasn’t in the centre of Les Gets. However, it proved to be a 15-minute walk or less than 10 minutes by bus (B) which runs every 30 mins from outside the rear of the hotel. The buses stop just after 6pm, but there is a night shuttle for 3 euros if you can’t bear to walk. However, you soon discover this hotel is in the perfect location for a skiing break – opposite the lovely La Turche drag lift and a short ski down to the Perrieres Express. Both lifts give you access to runs down into the main ‘bowl’ of the Chavannes Sector. The two pistes – Vorrosses, a blue down to the hotel and Melezes, a long red down through the trees are wonderful runs to have nearby. This is a true ski-in/out location and the views of the piste and Mont Chery behind are spectacular.

The supermarket is back in Les Gets, but there is an excellent ski shop (Philippe Sports) and ski pass office nearby and several restaurants within 10 mins walk or loads back in Les Gets centre.

The hotel itself is an older building that has been tastefully updated. The bedrooms are nicely decorated, quiet, lovely and warm and reasonable in size. There is also lots of hot water and good wifi. There are no UK (or in fact non-French) TV channels just in case you need these to keep the kids quiet. Although most of the clientele when we were here being slightly older groups of dads and lads from the UK, France and Northern Europe, which made for a nice atmosphere. There is no lift.

The young staff in the hotel were very good and the lovely Charline on reception extremely efficient and helpful. The reception is open from 8am – 8pm and if you arrive later they leave your key in an envelope on the reception desk.

Breakfast is served from 8am (although was ready just before if you are aiming for the first lift out) and was very good – a nice selection of fruit, cereal, boiled eggs, bread/croissants and great coffee. We also ate dinner on the bistro one night and that was very nice too. There is a big outdoor terrace area if you fancy a beer at the end of the day, but it was quiet when we were there.

The public areas are nice with an open fire in the evening and there is a boot room to store your boots/skis downstairs.

Overall, an excellent choice in a fantastic location and very good value.

This was our second stay at La Grande Laniere, and it didn't disappoint. We love the ability to ski-in/ski-out, using either La Turche button/drag lift of the Perriere 6-man chair below the hotel. This allowed us to access the whole Les Gets/Morzine ski area without ever having to battle the crowds in the center of Les Gets. On the other hand, it was easy to walk down to the center of town in the evenings if we wanted to shop or have dinner outside of the hotel.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and made us feel completely at home. The fireplace in the residents' lounge every evening made it a cozy place to play games and have a pre-dinner drink. The breakfasts were also exceptional with a good variety of savoury and sweet options - including wonderfully flakey croissants.

The only slight disappointment this year was the WiFi connection, which was a little unreliable in some of the rooms. But this may have been a hidden blessing as I worked less than I would have otherwise.

We will definitely consider returning for our next family skiing holiday, and happily recommend the hotel to others.
