Had a very pleasant stay here earlier this month, thanks mainly to the owners who were very friendly and helpful. My room was a good size, clean, with a comfortable bed and the continental breakfast was generous. Nicely situated, overlooking a park, not far from the railway station. For a 2 star, it was excellent.
I found the hotel a little difficult to find even though it is shown as only being 400 metres from the station, I asked 3 people where it was and 2 were sending me in the wrong direction. However when I arrived on Sunday, late afternoon I was made welcome and told where to find good restaurants that would be open. My room was medium size and the shower room small with the shower curtain almost clinging to me when I showered, but the water was hot. The toilet was very close to the door, so a little uncomfortable. Breakfast was reasonable. Thank you
Unfriendly welcome from reception on arrival. Our “superior” bedroom has seen better days. I didn’t realise anaglypta wallpaper was back in fashion. The whole place is tired, basic and in need of some TLC. Bike garage 2 streets away. Breakfast lacked any imagination.
Good for a night stop over but not for more. As with other reviews, rooms are small, sparse, and largely outdated. I was overnighting on way to Barcelona airport so it was somewhere to sleep. Location is fab though - right on the Allees Paul Riquet, and a 7 min walk to the cathedral where I had a sunset dinner in the square in front of the cathedral...Béziers itself is a historic place and worth a wonder for a day...
Stayed here one night during a Canal du Midi cycle ride. Hotel is situated in an interesting part of town & fairly close to Beziers’ main sights. Pretty basic room but reasonable rates & decent breakfast. Helpful staff & bike storage just around the corner.
Stayed for one night as part of a group who were cycling. I think if we had been on our own we would have left! The room we had on the first floor was very small, bedspreads were dirty and stained, although the sheets seemed clean thank goodness. Ths shower was really dirty, black mould on the grouting, but at least the water was hot. I would never stay here again. The only positive is its location in the centre of town. It's a quiet road with regard to traffic noise, but you can hear people in the next room having a conversation.
Very good accommodation in the center next to poets park very bright clean and charming decor, Angellina and Philippi were excellent hosts and could not do enough to help us. Would highly recommend this hotel
Lovely clean bright decor, our room (31) generous size compared to chain hotels, very friendly hosts, provided info on local restaurants that would be open (we arrived early spring). We stayed here on first and last night of cycling holiday, great showers, good nights sleep. If arriving by train/airport shuttle just go straight up the hill from station, Google maps lead us on a long circular walk to the hotel.
The Hotel des Poetes takes its name from the Parc des Poetes which is the extension of the boulevard at the very bottom of Les Allees Paul-Riquet and as such it is quiet as the road outside is a cul-de-sac This is very much the old style of French Hotels, effectively what would have been a fine house with at least three floors with the rooms on the upper floors now each turned into a hotel room with the modern addition of an ‘en-suite’ shower and toilet. The upper floors were all accessed using a tight stone staircase so this would have been challenging to someone with limited mobility. My room was on the side of the building so the only ‘window’ was in the door leading out onto the fire escape however the bed was comfortable, the plumbing worked and it was quiet so I achieved a good night’s sleep. My colleague had a room at the front which had a lovely view of the park in front of the hotel but he had a rude awakening when the local municipal gardeners arrived at 6:00 am with their leaf blowers to clear up the leaves that were cascading from the huge trees in the park following a couple of sharp frosts. Breakfast was the usual French ‘Petit dejeuner’ served in the lounge on the ground floor (although that is a slight misnomer as there were a good four or five steps from the pavement up to the front door). Free wifi was promised but given the nature of the building, the local 4G signal was much faster and more reliable. Free secure garage parking is provided at a separate location some 100 metres away around the back of the next building. As a hotel, it is great in that it is conveniently located for the train station and is within easy walking distance of all the restaurants, bars and other attractions of this historic town and it is economically priced. The two ‘staff’ we met were both friendly and helpful. This was a convenient hotel for a economic overnight stop.…
Very close to train station and overlooking a beautiful park this is a great place to stay if you are seeking value. My room 110 had a balcony overlooking the park and was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Shower was good and the staff here were lovely people. Very close to old town and other sights and places to eat. Highly recommended.
