This hotel is a model for what a good 2 star hotel should be like. Rooms well decorated, bathrooms that would put a 4 star hotel to shame, everything works, decent breakfast and helpful owners. Macon is a great place for a short break - vinyards and wine-tasting, chateaux and lovely villages. The town itself is also very relaxed with... More

Just stayed at Du Nord for 1 night on way to Nice. Very easy to find straight off the motorway and we had prebooked parking (important to do so as on-street outside hotel and was pretty packed) so the owner had put a bollard right outside the front door to save us a space which was great. The staff spoke... More

The location is a bit far from Macon Ville station (15 minutes walk), but aside from that, it is a great hotel. The lady owner of the place is very nice, the room is nicely renovated, the view of the river is great, there are plenty of restaurants/mini markets around, and it is close to some historic architectures such as... Liked the location and way it has been re-furbished. Secure parking 50 metres away. Breakfast simple but adequate.

Normally on my trips to the south of France we stop off in Beaune - this time we went a bit further to Macon and stayed in this great little hotel. Let's be honest we chose it for price (€60 per night) and location (right on the river) - clean tidy and stylish with a nice continental breakfast. Macon tself... More

Stayed for one night whilst visiting the nearby Maconnais wine growing region. The hotel is very centrally located right on the river and a short walk from the restaurants (if any had been open) and shops. The couple running the hotel were very friendly. The room was very chintzy with flamboyant lamp shades and enormous cut out images of roses... More

Despite our satnav taking us to completely the wrong part of Macon, when we eventually found this hotel it was a very pleasant surprise. Room had a beautiful view of the river, the ancient bridge and the church on the other bank. Right in the heart of the City, surrounded by many restaurants. Certainly one to return to.... providing our... More

Booked at the last minute but amazed to get in. Whoever rated this as two stars goofed - it is better than most four stars we've stayed in. Wonderfully accommodating staff (owner gave me his parking place in front of the hotel), hotel location right on the Soane river a significant plus, and the breakfast at 7 Euro/pp was among... More

Hotel Du Nord easily the most recommended cos of its modern rooms overlooking the Saone. But when we arrived all the rooms with views taken by people who had booked ahead. Given the only room they had—No 26 which was the cheapest. When we parked near the hotel I remarked to my spouse that I liked Macon cos it was... More
