This is a small hotel with new proprietors who are in the process of updating the rooms. Everything was spotlessly clean and the entrance, bar and breakfast areas have been pleasantly renovated Our room had been nicely decorated. The hotel is situated in the centre of Le Mont-Dore with adequate free parking a short distance away across a well lit park in front of the hotel. The continental breakfast was plentiful with a variety of home-made jams and a constant supply of coffee and/or tea available. The town has many restaurants to cater for all tastes. There are thermal baths as well and the surrounding area is good for walking and ski-ing. .
We arrived in late afternoon in Mont Dore without any booking. After a quick tour in the center and a few attempts in different hotels, Nathalie at Hotel de Londres was the most welcoming and cheerful host so we decide to chose that one. Located in the heart of the city, with a beautiful view on the Sancy Peak, it was a right choice. We had a lovely restful night and enjoyed a simple breakfast with local products. Bonus point for the homemade jams and pancakes. We will be happy to stay again if we pass by this "pittoresque village".
This is an excellent budget hotel. The room was clean and, for the price, it was much better than I expected. Excellent location in the middle of town and near the start of the two circular footpaths. The owners are very helpful (and speak English).
When we first arrived we were a bit dubious about this hotel and wondered why it rated so well. It's only 2 star and pretty basic. But as time went on we changed our views. It is run by a husband (the chef) and wife (front of house) team who own and run the whole place. The husband bakes fresh rolls and croissants for breakfast and provides home made jams etc. He also provides a set course dinner every night for any guests who want it and he is a very good cook. And it is all very affordable. The rooms are basic but fine and on the right side of the hotel you get fabulous views of the village and the mountains. So long as you don't have un-realistic expectations this low cost hotel is great value and really does deserve its rating in our view.
A little family run hotel. Only 18 rooms. We arrived ate in the evening and asked if there were any rooms...ideally with a view of the mountains. Thats exactly what we got. From the balcony we had great views of the snow lined mountains. And over the town. Breakfast was home made croissants and bread, with home made jams that were absolutely delicious. The room was adequate, quiet - with blinds to cut out the light and traffic noise. Relatively priced a little above the same type of room i have had before. I would stay again. Exceptionally friendly and helpful owner.
