We stayed at La Caravelle for about a week and we absolutely loved it. It was our first time in Corsica and we enjoyed the easy access to the beach and to the mountains. Because we were travelling with our 2 large dogs, we took a junior suite, which was quite luxurious. The room was immaculate and the hotel is in a superb location. The beach is a few metres away, there is a supermarket a few minutes away, the railway boardwalk starts beside the hotel and is probably the best running route to start out from. The harbour restaurants are a short stroll away and (after a couple of glasses of wine) a mere step or two back. La Caravelle also has a beach restaurant, where it’s possible to reserve sun loungers beside the water’s edge and admire the medieval citadel. It really is the most beautiful place. Les moules frites were just as good as you would think. Just be aware that the beach bar only takes cash and no cards. The hotel owners and staff were always friendly and helpful. I was a little concerned that the railway line ran right beside the hotel but this turned out to be baseless as there are so few trains and none at night (that I’m aware of). The hotel grounds are the most immaculately kept grounds ever. The attention to detail is superb.…
Beautiful rooms, several with a view to the Calvi Gulf and its hsitorical Fort and its white sand beach situated at less than 100 meters. The service is perfect, for the rooms and in the restaurant with a highly professional personnel speaking at all a lot of languages.Customers are from, several countries returning every year for vacation .
Although we took 50 years to come back it was well worth the wait. Loved every minute of our stay at this lovely small hotel. Ok. rooms in the garden are a little on the small side but lacked nothing. A couple of minutes walk to the wonderful beach and the restaurant served a set menu each evening but were very accommodating to me as do not do fish and only certain meats and all of the food was delicious. A well laid out buffet breakfast eaten outside. A couple of minutes walk to the little station for a train ride up to Ille de Rousse which was very scenic.
We had a bit of a problem to find this hotel as it is on a side street and there is no sign. When we got there, we immediately noticed the rail tracks and the neighbouring Lunapark. We were concerned it would be noisy but we should not have worried as both stop quite early. The two nights we spent there were very comfortable and quiet. We were on the first floor with a view on the sea. The staff is really efficient and friendly, we had a problem with our shower and they fixed it immediately. The private beach is gorgeous, the seats are comfy and the view on the Citadelle priceless. We did not try the breakfast buffet as we thought 15 euros per person is far too expensive and indeed we could enjoy a huge breakfast in a bakery nearby for half that price. All in all, the place is really great and would be nearly perfect if it was not for a major nuisance: as other comments pointed, it is full of mosquitoes, we have been eaten alive!…
Hotel is in a so-so location in Calvi. Only there for one night before moving on. Shared a twin room. It was quite small with no facilities and it smelt quite strongly of damp. There was quite a lot of noise from a party in an adjoining room. It seems to have a pleasant garden, though we didn't see much of it. Basically, it is far too expensive for what you get. On the plus side the receptionist is delightful and allowed us to leave suitcases at the hotel whilst we disappeared for a walk in the mountains!
