Very good hotel, a bit out of the town which is nice for the pre- dinner walk but not with cases to get to the train station! But that slight problem is trumped by the views over the coast, with a lovely sight of the setting sun- gorgeous. Also, there is a rock beach beneath the road the hotel is on, for sun bathing (Mrs) or swimming in warm water (me!). Nice breakfast, reasonable at 7.5 Euros each. Only really iffy item- plastic shower CURTAIN which sticks to you- yuk! Suggest you book direct with the hotel for the best rates.
The hotel is shabby and rundown and the room was basic and rather drab but the view of the sea from the balcony is splendid. There is no air conditioning and the wifi did not work in the room. There were no bedside lamps. It is a 10 minute walk to the port and town where there are many restaurants. For €65 I guess it is cheap for Calvi and ok for one night.
I'll start with the positive. We had a super view of the Mediterranean from the balconey. The room definitely needs updating. There is no AC., refrigerator, or television. The toilet didn't always work. We had to keep entering the WiFi code every few minutes and the WiFi barely worked even then. Because we visited in the summer, we paid a premium price. The front desk clerk was not able to check us out the night before or in the morning, so we never saw our bill. With a little work, this place could be superlative and if I had paid €55 like most other people, my review would be better.
Don't go! The hotel is very outdated, smelly and not well looked after. We had a room on the second floor with a nice view of the ocean but that, and the fact that the room was cleaned every day, was about the only thing positive about the stay. As we are not to picky when it comes to hotels and where looking for something not to expensive we gave the place a chance despite the mixed reviews on trip advisor. When we arrived we unfortunally found all the negative to be true. The funky odor of the corridor was unsuccessfully covered by room perfume and the communal areas were very worn down. The room was furnished with a smelly, low and soft bed and a big wardrobe with two of the three doors locked (resulting in not a singel hanger in the room). Shower only had very hot or cold water and the fan provided only worked for 120 min maximum since it was on timer. During nighttime we had to keep the door to the balkony open to get a little cold from the seabreeze. This however resulting in very high noice from the road in front of the building. There is also a small communal disposal collection right in front of the hotel and when this was emtied in the early morning the noice was even more disturbing. The wifi was not working in our room. When we pointed this out the girl in the reception just said, "no it works in all the rooms". We tried to cancel our stay after the first night because of the noice and the lack of internet connection (stated on booking.com that there was wifi in all the rooms) but the manager (trough the girl in reception) let us know we hade to pay for the whole stay eitherway so we endured the three remaining nights. According to the girl in the reception (nice and spoke english) the hotel was going to be renovated next year and I would recommend anyone thinking about staying at Il Tramonto to rethink, spend a couple of extra euros and get better value for your money! We sure wished we'd done that.…
We arrived without a reservation and there were no sea-front rooms available but were given a small room at the back of the hotel. It was cheap (€55 + €6 for breakfast ) and clean but very basic, with no decoration and a very sparse bathroom (no paper to be put in the toilet).Wifi only worked in the reception area. The staff were very friendly and breakfast on the terrace was delightful. Plenty of free parking available. The hotel is about 800 metres up the hill from the harbor where there is a great choice of restaurants. Overall a budget hotel but good value for money
