Stayed here on our way to the Cape on the idea that we should try out the "town" of Richmond. We had a lovely walk around seeing some fantastic public art and in the morning exploring some great second hand bookshops. Marina's was more than fine - clean, good shower ample breakfast (for R45 pp) and we stayed for R975...

We were on an impromptu return drive from Johannesburg to Cape Town and found ourselves in Richmond late in the afternoon. A friend recommended Marina's for a nights stay. The guesthouse is quite old and we got that homely feeling when we first entered the place. The owner welcomed us and sorted out the off street parking for our car....

Nice, clean and friendly staff. Bed was great and loved the air-con and hair dryer. Don't need anything more for an over-nighter. The restaurant (next door) was a bit of a let down. Although the decor is interesting and welcomed the fire, all 4 of us were served ice cold food which we had to ask to be warmed up....

Good stopover, good staff, exactly the atmosphere expected if you want to call it "Karoo" or at least close, all the history in the architecture and at the museum, the lamb chops and the wine, at very reasonable prices.

The accommodation was adequate but I found the whole tenor of the place dark, dingy and dreary. Although the staff were pleasant enough, they were rather casual in their attitude. When I arrived, I had to wait a while for someone to appear to check me in. Breakfast was also very unexciting in terms of choice and quality, and again,...

Stayed over here about 4 years ago and really disappointed this time around. The room was clean and beds comfortable. The bathroom did not have any soap and a shower curtain does not really work. Also only single ply toilet paper. The roman blinds/curtains are dated and the walls require some painting which made the room dark. Unfortunately they had...

GENERAL: We had booked to stay here from Cape Town en-route to the Kruger National Park. We stopped off over a Tuesday evening. Richmond is tiny and does not cater for travellers (other than for sleep) or tourists. Very much a half horse town. Although we had read up about eating places in Richmond and been recommended somewhere by the...

We stayed here twice, once driving from Johannesburg to Cape Town and again on our return. We found our hostess to be welcoming and the overall stay was just what we needed for a long road trip (they even allowed our small dogs to stay). The town is quaint and it's a lovely spot to stretch your legs after a...

A great Karoo destination. Richmond is a real Karoo gem. Marina's is a warm professional B&B. Large and comfortable rooms with great staff and a very relaxed atmosphere. Their Horse bar is an absolute must see.....how long a night can you last in a real saddle....

“The annex is lovely, but if you are there on a Fri or Sat don't be on the street it can be noisy after pub closing time!”
