What a perfect host! Before my arrival, I received already great advices which places to visit on the way to the Hotel. When I arrived, I was supported again in a very friendly and helpful way. The food was also delicious.

Visited Hotel Serrano in weekend early March 2018. Hotel is in central area close to the beach less than 500m. Room I had was quite clean, with double insulated window. Temperature was ok even though air-condition was not used. Breakfast was satisfactory having a variety of items though if some tomatoes, boiled eggs and a choice of cereals would make an improvement. Dinner was good especially the varieties of pasta accompanied by a delicious healthy desert consisting of mixed fruits and ice cream. Wine was good as well. Would visit again.

We had only one night at this wonderful family-run Hotel. Mamma and 3 of her 5 sons, Giovannii,, Sandro and Diego did everything to make us feel at home. We were at the end of a couple of weeks in Sicily and were on our way back to Ostuni in Puglia. Our room was spacious, comfortable and the balcony overlooked a pretty street. The home-cooked meal was more than generous, with fresh anti-pasti, primo and secondo. Be warned, the serving s are very, very generous and our only regret is that we could not finish the main course! Gracie Mille, tutti e bacci da gli australiani !!

Roberto received us at the airport and brought us to the Hotel Tito Serrano (HTS). We had a good clean air-conditioned room on the quiet side. A healthy fantastic spread was laid out every morning for breakfast. Giovanni, Sandro & Diego pampered us every day and invited our friends from Canada to join us for breakfast as part of the family. The spirit behind the enterprise is the mother, Signora Mimma, who remained concerned about our welfare every evening. While we stayed at HTS, we practically had dinner at the hotel restaurant. Serrano, the Master Chef would ask us our preferences in the morning and he would prepare a feast based on fresh local produce available in the market for dinner: Some of our favourites were - Starters: Blue fish & potatoes pie; fried cod, delicious veal bresaola, grilled veg: aubergines and zucchini flowers, our weakness potato croquettes, beet salad, eggplant parmigiana, and garlic bread with tomato. Primi: Zucchini risotto & shrimp, linguine with seafood, veg soup; Secondi: Grilled fish dolphin, veal rolls in beer. Fruit platter as dessert was a must. Feast is an understatement. Roberto is the Ambassador of Calabria. He gave us books and advised us to visit some historic sites and museums to learn about Calabria that one does not find in official tourist guide books. We were sad leaving the Serrano family. We have left our hearts in Melito di Porto Salvo and will go back to retrieve them. The Serrano family made us part of their own and we are deeply indebted to them for showering so much affection and warmth. The hospitality industry can learn from the family how to delight their guests. Their Greatness is that they enjoy it.

This hotel doesn't look like anything special from the outside but contains pleasant and spacious rooms. The reason its a remarkable place is because of the mother and her 5 sons who own/run the place; great fun, generous, interesting, helpful and with a good grasp of english. Dinner, inevitably prepared and served by the family is exceptional value.
