Beautiful countryside around this old Inn. Did a couple of lovely walks with the dog. Loads of wildlife. Saw a just born lamb, deer and of course lots of birds. The Elks Head is a lively local pub, acoustic set on and everyone was really friendly. Our evening meal was good value at £12 for 3 courses but it was...

My partner and I stayed here as part of a hiking holiday around Hadrian's Wall. The location is gorgeous, with a view of the river, and the room was spacious and mostly clean. As vegetarians, unfortunately the food was very limited and 'vegetarian breakfast' consisted of removing the meat from the meal and leaving you with the sides (no alternatives)....

Excellent food, decent real ale, child friendly, helpful staff, clean well appointed rooms, peaceful riverside setting, friendly and helpful locals (ran battery down in car and within two minutes two different vehicles stopped to provide jump leads to get us going!)

Cannot recommend this stay enough. Wonderful staff, wonderful food, wonderful room and brilliant bed. We have stayed at many B and B's and this is one of the best we have been to. We would definitely stay here again. You should too.

We booked the Elk's Head through Groupon for the end of March. Being on a budget I had trawled the web for affordable offers and was pleasantly surprised to find the Elk's Head had its promo running the Thursday before Easter, my partner's birthday. The location is rural and a bit off the beaten track but, the setting and enjoyable...

stopped off at the elks head quite a few times for lunch whenever weve been enroute to the lakes/Northumberland on holidays and never been disappointed in the food, but unfortunately this visit I was... we only wanted a light lunch so chose a coffee and a sandwich/baguette...when it arrived i was shocked it looked like one of those really small...

Booked the Elks Head with a couple of friends through groupon for a short break. Well worth the money. Food, rooms and hospitality all lived up to our expectations. Great location and views across the countryside. A short drive into the village of Alstom.

Booked through Groupon for 2 nights. What can one say? It's a remote and quiet hotel but central to anywhere. The rooms are clean, generous and comfortable. Great food. Staff friendly. Would recommend

we were passing and called in for some lunch,a bit cautious, expecting average. We were very pleasantly surprised, the food was very good. One of our party had the special guinea fowl and rated it very highly. The surroundings are not the most attractive but don,t let that put you off. We will be going again
