Ours is not a “boutique hotel” although it has plenty of charm. Neither is it a country bed and breakfast, even though it is situated in the middle of a natural paradise. It is perhaps a luxury hotel, yes, but it is not luxury as we know it. Really it is a very singular hotel located in one of the most beautiful and undiscovered regions of Spain. Don't forget it's also a restaurant!

Beautiful location buildings and rooms. Unfortunately not even closely match by any kind of adequate customer service or care. Zero vegetarian options even though it was requested 4 times. Once 3 months in advance , once 2 weeks in advance and again on arrival. We were meet in the restaurant with zero options and told we should have given warning of our dietary requirements! On check out extra money was charged than originally advised as they took less than the full payment during booking, even though they sent email confirmation that everything had been fully paid for at the time of booking. Not very friendly nor helpful. Such a shame as the venue was very nice.

Using and old church (somehow ranks as a hermitage) as a base they build this hotel with some good ideas using the concept of separate modern isolated cabins in a cube design that unfortunately have more form than function. They are somewhat small, perhaps one more meter in any direction could suffice. The interior is too compressed with a large bed totally blocked on threes sides with only access in or out through a foot side crawl. The only chairs available were butterfly wings contractions (no backrest). Cute, but useless for resting with a book enjoying the otherwise tranquil and serene countryside, thus rendering the balcony impractical. Better luck encountered at the separate chair stations , strategically located on the extensive hotel grounds, where comfortable seating is available, but not in your room. The compact bathroom is made complicated by the fact that the sink and mirror are at right angles and the overhead light over only one side, sink. Good if your are and Egyptian art profile. The hotel allow pets and when the owners leave them alone while taking any of the inviting hikes, they yelp constantly breaking the serenity of the site. The location is outstanding and the solitude inviting for rest and hikes with birds chirping at night . After that a nice breakfast is included in the price, which is a good idea since the town is few miles away. Personnel was discrete and helpful. We spend three days and will only recommend it pointing out the problems with the cubes. (They have other rooms in the main building). This setting was born of a good good idea that is a poster child for what comes out when designers take over plans to make a point without much thought to practical outcomes for comfort of the guests, particularly if they want relaxation along with uniqueness. Overall, good idea poorly implemented.

we stayed here for three nights and had a lovely time.We stayed in one of the pods which had a great view looking out to the mountains. It has a lovely balcony that you can sit out on and relax.they don't have a reception desk with staff here there is a little bell that you ring if you want the receptionist, it was a bit wierd at first as not used to not seeing anyone around. the swimming pool was FREEZING!

We had a fantastic meal here that highlighted the local produce through a contemporary prism. We selected a degustation menu, that led us through a panoply of flavours and textures, through vegetables, fish, meats and fruits and chocolate. The interior fitout highlights the impressive history of the space and the service was warm and attentive from the beginning and we highly recommend the restaurant. Thank you Gloria and team for a lovely evening.

Everything from the beginning was amazing. The room is big, with a terrace facing the mountains. Bath coming out of the floor also slowing you to enjoy the views. Peace, quiet and lovely food. They even give you a home made cake before you leave!

This was our best hotel experience these last years. Reality is even more impressive than the pictures show it. The whole place is absolutely unique, a peace of art, building a bridge from its ancient times as an Hermitage to contemporary architecture. A peaceful oasis which makes you forget the world outside. Extremely quiet, well entertained and clean. And above all: very friendly and helpful people, taking care of everything. Besides the pool they have a table tennis and table soccer, there’s a library and a large room with an open fireplace. Dinner is excellent with a good selection of wines focusing on the region. Breakfast could hardly be better with homemade cakes, different types of coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice of course. During the day they offer a special menu with several light dishes that they serve at the pool. In its surroundings you can do some walking, hiking and mountainbiking above all. We made a daytrip to the coast, visiting the Papagayo Garden in Benicarlo amongst other things which we can really recommend if you travel with children.

This is a truly unique place to relax, enjoy nature and experience a beautiful blend of modern architecture with tradition and history. It is also a perfect place for a romantic break. We stayed for 5 days in January in one of the cubes. The cubes are fantastic. You wake up and see the marvelous views in front of you and you have a fireplace that is perfect to relax after a day's hike. The bed / tatami is very confortable and the bathroom is spacious and well-equipped with nice toiletries. There is WIFI and everything is clean and carefully designed. On the downside, the blinds are not very thick so they do let quite a lot of light get in in the morning, so if you are a light sleeper, do bring a sleeping mask. The rooms are so nice and confortable that you can stay there all day long, but there are other very nice places within the hotel: there's a very confortable library, a great restaurant, a super cool living room with a big fireplace and many sofas where you can be alone or with friends and have a drink, a chapel where you can spend some moments of silence or you can sit in one of the confortable outdoor chairs to contemplate nature. (There's also a beautiful pool but we went there in the winter so didn't use it). There's literally nothing around the hotel, so you need to bring a car. There are wonderful places to hike nearby (20KM) - go to Beceite and try "la ruta del Parrizal" it's very much worth the while. The hotel restaurant is very good so you can eat there every day, but if you want to try something different you'll need to drive some miles. Service is excellent and very warm. Don't expect a cold and extremely obliging typical luxury-hotel service. The staff at Consolación are professional indeed and they are incredibly nice and helpful, but they are not servants, they own the property and they are warm, close and down to earth. There is no room service and you need to bring your luggage to your cabin, but of course they clean your room everyday and leave it impecable. I very much recommend this place. It's indeed a unique experience.

After staying in Barcelona for 4 days this hotel was an a welcome retreat. The first thing you might notice after settling in after being in the city is how complete the silence is. The rooms had slate floors, but they provide slippers if you didn't bring any. An in-floor bath is present. A separate shower is located in the bathroom. Beds are floor level, but comfortable. The cube has a balcony and two seats you can enjoy the view with. While the rooms come with AC/heat, there is also a fire place inside. I would highly recommend getting dinner there - the tasting menu is a good choice. Breakfast in the morning was buffet style with cured meats/cheese/yogurt - typical food. Also check out the common room adjoining the main hotel building - its a casual place to enjoy a wine or drink. I was initially under the impression there wasn't much to do around here - but after visiting I regret not booking a longer stay as we found you could probably spend a few days there. A few notable activities: If you enjoy outdoor activities, Beceite is about an hours drive away. Getting down into the canyons can take about 2 hours on foot if you park at the last parking lot (8 euros to park). We were surprised to see a mountain goat lounging on one of the hills there. If walking around old walled cities is more your thing murella is a short (20 minutes) drive away in in the Valencian Community. The smoked/cured meats here were excellent. Hotel Consolacion is an excellent hotel for relaxing and enjoying the surrounding landscape.

We spent a wonderful night here in March, and again in April. The cubes are absolutely charming, and each are equipped with their own fireplace. While there are rooms in the main building, I would suggest a cube because it's more fun. It's a great place to come for a romantic weekend, or for a fun weekend with families and friends.
